πŸ‘πŸ‘ Beautiful trail. I’d give it a 1/5 in terms of difficulty. There are a few different trails which are all interconnected. Would recommend to go on a few different ones as each one is unique. The trail can get a little muddy if you’re going after rain. There are a couple of waterfalls in this network... People often mention trail, trails,

Really beautiful walk with almost complete canopy coverage, perfect for rainy days. The waterfall is awesome! Just wish the whole trail was gravel - the part that’s just dirt is definitely a mess whenever it’s wet at all. And, it would be awesome to have better pedestrian crossing protection/awareness from the East parking lot.

Nice trail! Elevation does go up rather quickly. But doable! I did with a baby on a carrier.

Cougar Mountain from redtown are some of my favorite trails and the dogs love them. There are tons of flat and easy trails, but also many trails that have some good elevation gain if that’s what your goal is.

Very easy and beautiful hike. It is kids and elderly-friendly. The parking lot at the trailhead could be busy during the day, so I recommend coming in the morning.

This is a good hike for beginners. We followed slightly longer route along Red town trail and Quary trail to the falls. We came back on the Coal Creek falls trail. Was not that busy and there was enough parking available. Though saw lots of signs to be beware of thefts so I assume there might be some risk to some thefts from cars

Lovely hike, just a short ways from Seattle / Bellevue! It's not the most impressive in terms of sights, but I enjoy that it's quite easy / flat, shaded, forest-y, and cool. It's really great for family hikes, or hiking for people who want to experience nature without exerting too much physical energy. Saw many dogs. When we went on a Saturday morning in June 2022, it wasn't too crowded or busy, though by the time we left in the afternoon, the parking lot was full. I love the feeling of walking through a forest. Most of time, it was fairly quiet. We hiked along the Red Town Trail loop (see AllTrails for full route). The paths are generally decently wide and well-maintained. There are some side trails / detours that are more narrow, which really adds to the feeling of walking through the woods. (I relied on AllTrails to follow these trails). There were also many mushrooms and slugs along the way (it had just rained the day before). Coal Creek Falls is a small waterfall, and nice stopping point - you can rest there and eat some snacks, before heading back to the parking lot.

Simply the greatest place to take the family for a hike. We loved coming here to get outdoors and indulge in what Washington has to offer. Don't miss the Coal Creek mine shaft and storyboard.

Hidden gem. So close to the city, yet very peaceful and well maintained. Easy but have enough up and down to let your heart rate rise. Perfect for exercising for both for less active person and athletes whose want to run the trail.

Enjoyed hiking on this trail very much. The uphills are challenging and I love them.

We came to see the coal creek falls, the trail was great honestly. It was well marked and there was plenty of options to choose from. The only downside is that the falls were dried up.
