Great yummy food. I stopped by for a quick lunch and it was just delicious. I had lentil soup and the grilled platter. You can tell it’s fresh and good ingredients. Definitely I’ll stop by again for dinner. Well done!

After years of hearing about this restaurant, we finally tried this for dinner. This is a well known neighborhood favorite. However it is tucked away in an expensive residential neighborhood. It does live up to its reputation. I hope the neighborhood appreciates having this restaurant there. We found everything tasty and delicious. The dumpling assortment is a good way to start the meal. This style of food is better shared. This way everyone can try more menu items. Recommend coming here with 4 our more people. Reservations are recommended. There is only street parking., if you don't live nearby.

My family loves going here. It has a cozy atmosphere. The bread and dips appetizer is delicious. I got the spicy beef dumplings which were delicious. It’s a very full menu so there’s so many great options. The only reason for the 4 vs 5 stars is that it took about 20 min for us to get seated even though we were on time for our reservation. Still highly recommend this place!

Aracosia is another hole in the wall establishment. This was my first time trying Afghan food and did not know what to expect. Good thing I went because the food was out of this world. Each dish was unique in its own sense. Very Flavorful. Ordered Lamb Shank Moghuli and it was absolutely succulent. The meat was fall off the bone good. Also ordered the Chicken Aracosian, Hot Mazza Assortment Platter, Beef tenderloin and lamb chops platter and Rose Water Ice Cream. Come and try this place when you are in the area. You won't regret it

Enjoyed dinner here as part of a large group in their back room, 4 tables seating 7 or 8 folk. Started with a sampler of four appetizers: spicy beef dumplings, leek & scallion dumplings, roasted eggplant and butternut squash. My favorite was the butternut squash topped with garlic yogurt for its savory taste. The Afghan flatbread served with appetizers was the right amount of chewy and enjoyable with the yogurt dip. Others had a variety of entrees, I had the Qabuli Palou: lamb shank falling off the bone accompanied by basmati rice with shredded carrots and raisins. It was delicious but provided enough for the next day's lunch. Others were okay but not thrilled with their choices: aushak (steamed dumplings filled with leeks and scallions but swimming in a bowl of sauce), chicken thighs in a tomato based stew, lamb kabobs. Folks at the table tried 3 desserts: an almond cake that did not taste like almonds, a rose water flavored custard that was tasteless and a pistachio custard that did taste of pistachios. The service for our group was outstanding and many folks agreed with me that they would return.

I am currently sitting here contemplating the meal I just had at this amazing restaurant. It would be an understatement to say that this food is simply amazing. The flavors, the spices, the perfectly cooked lamb that fell off the bone and finally the cardamom cake were each just spectacular. And the service was so pleasant with recommendations and descriptions of the menu. What a treasure to have enjoyed this meal. Thank you to all. PS: do not miss any of the dumplings

Food is consistently delicious. We had a variety of dishes but everything tasted amazing. The restaurant’s vibe is very welcoming and we especially love the art on the walls. Staff are friendly and attentive. They’re usually very busy so making a reservation is def recommended.

It’s a fine dining place requiring reservations on most days. We were in town and could luckily get a table. Pros: cute little place with afghan decor and new imagery to the middle eastern restaurants. Variety of listings to choose from. Heaven for meat lovers or eaters with heavy lean towards beef based dishes. Pistachio cake was delicious. They provide dips on the side which are really good if eaten by itself. Doesn’t really compliment along with food. Cons: food is not real authentic, toned down to satisfy American taste palette. We tried the stew, pumpkin dumplings, rice and more. Each individual order has multiple items on the plate. Each of these items are more delicious then if the whole order is eaten together.

I visited Bistro Aracosia last night (January 29, 2023) because this family-owned Afghani restaurant recently added a two-page VEGAN menu. Wow! Their vegan food is delicious. Rich, filling, and perfectly spiced. They even offer vegan savory yogurt. The ambiance is warm and inviting. The service was excellent, including from the owner's daughter who seated us. The only room for improvement is that no dessert is listed on the vegan menu. I understand Bistro Aracosia offers vegan sorbets.

I only regret that I can give Bistro Aracosia only 5 stars (or that I have given other restaurants 5 stars in comparison). They have many options for carnivores and vegetarians. The food here has layers and nuances that are hard to describe. It is as if Mediterranean food married gourmet Indian food and they had a child. I have eaten near the Champs-Élysées in Paris, in the Trieste district of Rome, on Mount Lycabettus in Athens, in the Mountains of Crete, in the Medina in Tangier Morocco, and many more; this is the best food I've eaten. The atmosphere is great as are the acoustics, we enjoyed quiet conversations in a busy restaurant.

Great ambience and service. I had the chicken karahi which was rich in flavor and had very tender chicken. Afghani flat bread is complementary with 3-4 dips. Overall, great food and service.

Delicious food and a great atmosphere. We tried the taste menu and also had some dumplings and tasty bread. The mango cocktail was a good, sweet cocktail. Black tea was also a nice beverage.

My new favorite restaurant. The spices are rich, balanced, superb. All dishes were perfectly executed. The service was lovely. All at an awkward time of day (2pm on a Saturday). A+!

Amazing restaurant! Food is super flavorful and delicious, the staff are very friendly, and the interior is very nice. The lamb with lentil risotto was fantastic.

Wow!! This is the best restaurant I've been to all year. The flavors are so surprising and delicious! The 3 of us got the samplers, so we got to taste all the different meats, vegetables, and spices. My favorites were the grilled lamb chops and the pumpkin with garlic sauce. The drinks were also fantastic. Will be back soon!

Amazing, aromatic, and fresh tasting food. One of the appetizers with sweet pumpkin hit the right spot!! Lamb chops were juicy and flavorful. The place tends to get busy. Make sure you make reservations online. The waiting staff is well trained and attentive. Talia and Kyle held the fort well, despite the Saturday night rush.

Don’t miss this place if you’re in DC. Food was mind blowing and the service was even better! They care about small small things. Noah’s service was amazing! We loved the veal shank + Mughalai sauce 🤤

Very classy delicious place to eat. They had pages full of vegetarian options, but the meat dishes also looked very good. Had a few fun non-alcoholic drinks. I tried the pomegranate cardamom lemonade which was the perfect level of sweetness. Our server was awesome and very helpful with recommendations. And the desserts were great — I loved the milk cake and the chocolate one too. A bit pricey but will definitely come back and recommend to others.

Delicious food, amazing wait staff and just overall fabulous hospitality. The dumplings were scrumptious, especially the pumpkin dumplings if you like something a bit sweet. I haven’t tasted meat as succulent as I did with the lamb and beef platter. Very attentive staff overall. As you can tell, I most definitely recommend a visit. I’ll certainly be going back!!
