Buck and Brian our guides were the best. We had a party of 7. Our 3 kids were 10 and under. My 6 year old was led by Buck with a lead rope and it melted all the stress away to know he would be with the guide the whole time. Our guides could not be better in terms of telling us of the history of the Smokies and overall southern hospitality! We even got to ride through part of the river. Thanks for a great trip at a great price! Book this trip! No better place to be!

Trevor and staff did an amazing job with getting us going on our ride in the Smokies. We had a small group of 6 people. Beautiful 2.5 hour ride down to the waterfall. The horses were all so well behaved. Couldn't have asked for a more gorgeous day. The staff was very hospitable and knowledgeable. If ever back in this area, we would ride here again.

Had a great ride yesterday! We took the hour ride and it was beautiful. We went through a tunnel and through a river, absolutely beautiful! I rode Jesse and let's just say it's good I'm experienced he was a bit hard headed lol, but they told me he is used for experienced riders. My husband rode Penny I believe was her name and she cracked me up she was so calm and tame. All in all a Great ride with great scenery! I forgot Our tour guides name but remember he said hes from Bryson NC and it was his last season here. He was great! Thanks again for an amazing experience on our Honeymoon!

Awesome experience. Staff was great, learned a lot of cool things on the trail. Momma and our three year old took the wagon ride as minimum age for riding the horses is five. Our eight year old and I took the 1 hour trail ride and had a blast!

Today my daughter and I went riding here and we had an amazing experience! Buck was our guide and he did a fabulous job making us feel safe, welcome, and even gave educational info along the ride. My daughter is 12 and inexperienced in riding but her horse did great with her and they also done a good job explaining things to her. We rode Polly and Robin and both horses were great! I would recommend this place to ANYONE. Great prices and a beautiful ride!

Thank you for a great experience! Everything from booking, to arrival, to our one hour ride with Priscilla was great - folks were friendly & informative. The horses were great & you can tell they’re well cared for. We’d be happy to ride with you all again the next time we’re in the area.

To tell the truth I never wanted to pay for this because i never thought it would be worth the money they wanted. But that's all there was to do in Cherokee and I'm so happy that I did. For many reasons but the best one is because of the coolest most down to earth young lady that was are guide. Thank you for being you!!You and sexy Hank made it 100 % more enjoyable then you really relize. Please don't ever stop being you your amazing, awesome, thoughtful, kind, caring, friendly, silly witch makes you more beautiful then you already are! You and Hank make one heck of a team. You can also tell how much love she has for the horse's. That's incredible. Defiantly go see them everybody their horses are beautiful.

My husband and I had the pleasure of visiting the stables on September 23rd. We were one of three couples embarking on the 9am ride (it became notably busier upon our return). The decision to rise early and undertake the 90-minute drive was certainly worth it! This tranquil morning ride leading to the waterfall provided a breathtaking introduction to the Smoky Mountains. This adventure was my first horseback riding experience (my husband's second), and the staff handled our initiation well. They provided sturdy stands for us to mount our horses, conveniently positioned both at the outset and within the woods. The staff took care to pair each rider with a suitable horse. Although I had reservations about venturing out, our knowledgeable guide, Holly (my apologies if I've momentarily forgotten your name), possessed a deep understanding of the horses' personalities and area. She offered valuable insights, such as highlighting Walkers' preferred snack stops and Appache's spots for quick gallops. These insights greatly enhanced our journey (and soothed my nerves). The 2.5-hour ride felt perfectly timed, and the group efficiently assisted us in dismounting at the conclusion. I wholeheartedly recommend this experience to everyone. Thank you for the memorable adventure.

A wonderful family who owns this riding stables that has been in the family for generations. Friendly service and at $25 per person for the wagon ride it was the most affordable option. A little disappointed we didn't get more information about the area from our guide but we did find out the road we were on was created in 1849 to connect Carolina to Tennessee. Wagon ride was nice and to imagine this was how people traveled for hundreds of years. I definitely recommend the single rider horse experience for something more exciting. They did have very clean bathrooms on site!

These were the best cared for, healthiest horses that I have ever seen on a trail ride. Absolutely gorgeous! Our guides Heather & Asiah were awesome. It was really nice that they had plenty of staff to help people mount & dismount both at the stable and at the waterfall at the top so that everything moved smoothly and efficiently. The mounting decks were also handy to make things proceed faster so most of the time was spent riding & not waiting for people to get mounted.

Reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Waterfall tour was perfect!! I felt very safe with horse they selected for me as a beginner with no prior riding experience. Would absolutely return if we vacation here in the future. They do not take advantage of vacationers!!!

My husband and I took the 3 hr ride and had a fantastic time. The trail was a little more challenging than just riding along a flat path, and that's just what we were looking for. The horses were well behaved and handled the terrain well. We will most certainly be back!

My wife and I chose to go horseback riding through the Smokeys on our honeymoon and we couldn't have chosen a better spot. Not only were the staff polite and fun to talk with, but they took very good care of their horses. Our guide was knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable the entire ride. He was great at taking pictures, as well. If you're ever in that area, the drive is worth the experience.

My wife and I just did the 1 hour ride (which was long enough for us at the time) The people were nice and friendly, the horses were clean and well cared for. The scenery was Amazing, especially the river crossing. Highly Recommend.

We took the 1 hour ride. Crossed the river, through a tunnel, and a beautiful loop up the nearby mountain. Saw a mother elk on the ride that the guide said had just had a calf in the area. I plan to do the longer ride to the waterfall on my next trip to the area.

The ride to the waterfall was great and Sonny took excellent care of us! It was also nice when we returned that there was a person to help each of us off our houses.

Had a great morning this morning at Smokemont Riding Stables! A friend and I took the 2.5 hour ride to the waterfall and it was wonderful! Our group consisted of us and two others, it was great having such a small convoy! Buck was our tour guide, locally born and bred, and he was a wealth of knowledge about the area and local flora and fauna. I had a great time chatting with him and learned a lot! My horse was Casey, who was basically me in horse form…he was cautious going downhill and not in a rush to go anywhere haha (but not in a bad way, I appreciated it!). They seemed to do very well with pairing horses to your size, experience, and personality. We had all ridden before but I would have felt like I was in good hands even if I hadn’t. Buck was constantly checking behind him to make sure we were all keeping up and would wait if anyone needed to catch up so no one was left behind. He even took our photos (individually and in couples/groups) on our horses so we had a nice memento from our ride. The ride itself was very pleasant, they take you through beautiful, lush woodlands covered in native plants and mostly deciduous trees. You’re next to a beautiful creek/river for most of the ride so you hear nothing but the peaceful sounds of the water, wildlife, and wind through the trees. The only time you come close to a road with cars is when you’re at or nearing the stable/campground. You go at a leisurely pace and the terrain is gentle with some ups and downs around the mountain park which made it interesting and not just flat. Being that I went in November the leaves were already gone from the trees but I could see how incredibly picturesque it would be during other seasons such as spring and autumn. It was still gorgeous and green though with tons of ferns, rhododendron, and moss covering the landscape. The waterfall was serene and definitely a place I would be happy to return to so I could spend more time as it was more gentle and relaxing rather than powerful (which I honestly prefer anyways). You get about 15 min there to take photos and eat a snack (BYO) before heading back. Your guide helps you on and off and they have a platform both at the stable and at the waterfall to make it even more accessible to ride. The stable itself had bathrooms and a drink/snack machine and the booking/check in process was super quick and easy. I’m already planning on coming back to ride again in the spring! Thanks again for such a wonderful experience, I could’ve spent the whole day! Totally worth it! Do the 2.5 hour ride, it’s worth it!

Smokemont Riding Stables is handsdown the best place we have ridden in or around the Smokies! From the time we met Ms. Elizabeth at the sign in station, it was nothing but a wonderful experience! Our horses, Dan and Brownie, were the best behaved babies! Everyone seemed to really care for the horses and loved what they do! Our guide, Nolan, was great! They also send you out in small groups (ours had 4) instead of 10 or so like other places. I'd also like to mention Cody, as he took time out of his day to have a conversation with us at the end of the ride. If I could rate them higher than 5, I would! We did the 2.5 hour trip to the waterfall and it was perfect!! I can't say enough good things about Smokemont Stables!! --Maggie

👍👍 Great trail! Nice hike for beginners and for more experienced hikers, there's some trail that hasn't been maintained in a while. Tried it and it's pretty dense, but any experienced hiker shouldn't have a problem!! Wonderful place to get away from the road and enjoy the water. Great selection of diff...
