We drove 1.5 hours to ride here because my nephew is only 4 and most stables won't let him ride. Completely worth it. Rob, the owner, has kids and has trained his horses to be good with them. The horses were sweet and gentle but weren't tired, bored trail horses. Some of them are rescues but all are loved and well cared for now. The trail was fabulous as well. I'd come back here in a heartbeat and totally recommend. Best trail experience ever.

I went in as a novice and these folks gave me the skills and confidence to do a trail ride with four kids under ten. I can't say enough about Johnny, Shelby and Marietta. They led us through a wonderful hour of a trip. And yes you really are a cowboy, Johnny. See you again soon! Can't wait to ride again. These people really care about their craft and showing the experience of riding horseback.

We highly recommend Chunky Gal Stables!!!! 🐴 I was a little nervous being that I haven’t rode a horse in 30 years and my 13 year old daughter has never ridden one! Rob and Johnny were very professional and friendly. The tips they gave before we rode really helped. The trail Johnny took us on was very pretty and scenic. Also the history Johnny told us about the mountain was cool. The only thing I regret is not riding for a longer amount of time!

We all had a Great time. The horses were well behaved they responded well to the the directions we gave them as we rode up the mountain trail. It was a beautiful day Our guide was Rob. Our crew had a fantastic time riding with Chunky Gal Stables. The staff was excellent, the horses were gentle, and the experience was exactly what we had hoped for. We would definitely recommend this adventure!

It was great! I loved it! I called the same day and luckily they had openings later that afternoon. We went on a two hour ride, which was 85 per person. They have one hour ride options up to all day or overnight rides. We had a little rain, but luckily that didn't impact the ride time. So the two hour ride was actually two hours and they do a good job timing the rides. They also had saddlebags on the horses, so people could put their phones or water bottles in there during the ride. Near the end of the ride, the guide will take a picture of you and your group on one of your phones. It's very beginner-friendly since the horses walked in a line the entire time and were very calm. I highly recommend checking Chunky Gals Stables out!

Absolute amazing family run business. Booked a hour ride for two adults and three kids (4, 8, and 13) with only one of us ever truly riding horses. Rob and staff made the experience one to remember. They were patent, helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. Well worth the drive and money. Will be going back next year. Highly recommend if your looking for a great experience.

The owners were super great, explained everything as they prepped the horses. Rob even made sure to take us up some different routes, so that we would get our full times worth. As we were ahead of schedule.

We were visiting from Michigan. Most of us had never ridden before, Johnny led our group through the mountain trail and it was an awesome experience. We got storytelling throughout the trip and friendliness the whole time. Definitely 10/10 recommend!

Did a 1 hour ride with 3 kids, 2 adults. Rob and his wife Lacey prioritize safety and kept it enjoyable for the whole family. Before we left onto a trail a few miles away, I walked around and noticed how well-kept their stable was. The horses were very well mannered, younger kids (10 & 8) started out tied to Rob since they were a little nervous and as they got confidence about half-way in, he had them on their own on the trail. We opted for a trail with creeks and fewer steep climbs and were not disappointed with the scenery. Hope to come back and try a trail with long-range views. Enjoy the quiet of the woods with beautiful horses (most are rescues) and humble owners who make the trip worth the money. Only a couple of miles from the northeast corner of Lake Chatuge and about 15 minutes from the GA/NC border for those trying to plan trip logistics.

Rob and Johnny are great. They have a good operation and really do a good job with putting the kids on the right horses and interacting with the kids. I also liked that they let my 3yr old daughter ride with me where many places I called in the area wouldn’t. We’ve been back a few times and will return again.

I made arrangements to go riding with my daughter and myself 11/26/22 around 3 pm for an 1 1/2 hr ride. It was awesome. Rob and his wife where very helpful. He took the time to look at the group of 7 and get us on the right horses. Mine was Dallas and my daughter’s was Star. For the both of us this was our 2nd time each on a horse. We will definitely be back. My daughter in law in another state who works with and rides horses says the pictures we sent of the horses show they are well cared for.The prices are reasonable. Very nice facility. 👍👍

Such a fun experience! I've barely ridden a horse in my life, but Rob and Johnny did a great job setting us up and giving us a great trail tour. Highly recommend! I'll definitely try to come back on future trips down south

Went to check out these stables. Very impressed. Met by the two dogs as the welcome committee. The gentleman was as nice as can be answered questions and didn't mind taking a few minutes to meet and greet the kids. Scheduled a trail ride and can't wait to see how much fun it will be.

We had a fantastic adventure! Our granddaughters ages 8 &12 have no experience on a horse. Rob and Lakin were wonderful. They explained everything thoroughly. Lakin led our trail ride. She was very reassuring and kept everyone calm even when the horses spooked a bit. I highly recommend Chunky Gal Stables. We will definitely be back for another ride!

My husband and I did the 1 1/2 hour Eagle Fork Mountain and Creek ride. We had such a great experience! The owners are so hospitable, and very knowledgeable about the area they ride in and their horses. I locked our keys in our vehicle when we arrived, and they helped to put us at ease and enjoy the ride. He drove us to the trailhead and back and even helped my husband retrieve the keys when we got back. We plan on coming back and bringing our children to ride next time! Our two hour ride was wonderful! The horses were easy to manage. Laken, our guide, was very knowledgeable and told us all about the horses’ personalities. Loved the wooded, secluded ride. Highly recommend!

Robb the owner calls back/texts quickly. A fun relaxing experience. Johnny takes time and explains the different personality of the horses. He gives you background and history of the area where you're riding. Highly recommend! We didn't see any animals but of course, you can't always count on that. Overall, we had a fun family experience.

I used Chunky Gal a few years back to take my cousin and aunt riding through the mountains. We had a fabulous time. I’ve been riding and showing since I was a kid so I’m very picky when it comes to using any type of horse rental service. They have a nice little barn and the horses are very well taken care of. I booked Chunky Gal again this fall to take my husband and my friend riding. My husband has never ridden a horse before so I wanted the safest most comfortable experience. Chunky Gal did not disappoint! The trail ride up the old logging road was beautiful and our guide was excellent and full of information. We had a wonderful time. Recommend!!!!
