Many beautiful beaches and hiking trails. There is also many snorkeling locations with multiple shops in Cruz Bay and one at Maho Beach. This place is perfect for swimming, snorkeling, walking, and hiking. It's nice to be able to have other options than the beach all day. Some hiking trails are tough and can take a few hours to go a few miles but others are easier and shorter. There is usually a short hike to the beaches but those are pretty easy. Well this is in my top 5 National Parks and this was 48 out of the 63. if you love nature, diving, snorkelling, hiking, this has something for you. We spent two days on St. John. One doing a drive round and some hiking and one by boat going round the island, stopping at the best spots for snorkelling. just look at the pictures. If you are staying on St Thomas, its easy to get to St. John (preferably with your own car). The Big Red Barge, which we used and other car ferries operate multiple times daily, so its easy to do a day trip. Driving round is worth doing as you can get to some of the remote beaches, like Salt Pond and the various ruins. You can also rent a boat to take you around. The visitor center is really good and the staff know their stuff. There is also a short hike you can do from the visitor center. If you go to St. Thomas, dont miss out on this park.

Absolutely breathtaking! The actual visitor center is a bit tricky to find if you want to stamp your National Park passport, but the waters are amazing. We snorkeled with sea turtles, drove around the island, and strolled along beaches with water the most amazing and varying shades of blue and green. People were friendly and we only came for a day, but I'm sure you could spend weeks exploring the waters around the islands. There were many beaches to visit on your own or various tour companies offering activities.

Loved it here! We drove all around and explored as much as we could in one day and it was memorable. The views are breathtaking, the beaches are gorgeous, and the ruins are great for pictures. The roads are very windy but they’re paved so you feel a bit safer driving through it all.

A breathtaking beach… white sand, turquoise water. We did snorkelling around and enjoyed a relaxing afternoon sunbathing and swimming. A must see in St-John

This National Park is incredibly beautiful but has experienced some serious hurricane damages. The beaches are amazing and the waters are crystal clear. My husband and I did a national park shuttle tour so we did not experience the parking issues that most did however it did feel a little rushed.

So glad the National Park System acquired so much of St John. There is no comparison with overrun St Thomas. It is lush, beautiful, and safe.

Such a beautiful park. So many hiking trails, so many beaches with different vibes, so much to see in the water and out. January is a great time to visit-- the water and weather are perfect.

Beaches are amazing if you can find them . Lol do research and must have 4 wheel drive to get to some of the best beaches. Also if in need ask a local for help they are truly helpful. Amazing food.

Beautiful, gorgeous scenery. It is a must-visit place in US Virgin Islands. Foot travellers can take ferry from Red Hook, St Thomas, then take taxi to near by attractions - recommend Lind Point Trail, Honey Moon Beach, Salomon Beach (snorkeling). Car travellers have more options to explore the island - if time is limited, recommend to take a driving tour starting on North Shore Rd, aka Hwy 20 - a section pass Trunk Beach is very stiff with sharp left turn, just be careful and set to low gear - beautiful beaches along the route, plus hiking trails, historical ruins. Around Francis Bay / Annaberg - there is a sugar factory ruin, set GPS to go back to Starfish Market and choose Centerline Rd aka Hwy 10 - to travel through the mountain side of the island. On Hwy 10, in the late afternoon, there are blind spots plus some sections the sun is right at driver face - wear sunglasses and be careful. If time permit, and with car, one can explore the West side of the island. Happy exploring the beautiful National Park.

Top 3 most amazing places I've ever been. Beaches are incredible, historical sights are well signed and educational, and the rangers and volunteers are friendly and very knowledgeable.

Beautiful Island of St. John! We did a quick day trip from St. Thomas. Made it to three breath taking beaches. Maho Bay, Cinnamon Bay and Trunk Bay. So many true blue colors that are crystal clear. Lots of snorkeling right off the beach. Definitely wear your reef safe sunscreen or rash guard, this sun is brutal when spending the whole day in the water. Temperature of the water is perfect! Wish we had more time. One day is not enough

It’s really worth the scary uphill drive to reach this place because once you’re here you’ll never forget it. Parking is a battle so be prepared and do as the locals. Apparently taking a cab makes it easier. Cinnamon Bay beach is less crowded and larger but Trunk Bay is definitely the most popular.

Fabulous beaches, wonderful people. Have been living here part time for 20 years, can't think of anyplace I would rather be.

Beautiful. Definitely a palace you should visit at least once in your life.

Beautiful area. Great views and even a hard to reach beach which is worth the trek (Reef Bay). I wish it was more long distance friendly, to see All the best areas you need to have access to a car (rental or take a cab). Trails are well marked, but the grass does get high on a few of them. If you find yourself in the VI, and are a hiker, no matter what island you stay on, going here is worth the trip. Beware of the catus-trees πŸ˜€, and it does get Hot so bring lots of water.

Great views of beaches and islands. Ranger told us that beach parking can fill up by 9:30am. There are sugar mill ruins, as well as petroglyphs off a hiking trail. There is a public bus system you can catch around the park. If you drive, some of the roads are extremely steep, although most are paved. Food along Routes 10 and 20 are concession stands, not really restaurants. I didn't see any gas stations in the park. A docent told us that most of the coral is either dead or bleached around the island, so snorkeling won't see much.

Beautiful water with white sand beaches. A quaint town square with various Island shops.

Epic snorkeling and white sand beaches offer a variety of wildlife and ecosystem viewing, conservation, natural history, hiking, and ocean adventure opportunities. The NPS building here in St John is well appointed and staffed by knowledgeable, enthusiastic docents, with the friends of the VI adding naturalist guided tours and opportunities for land and sea exploration suitable for all ages and fitness levels. This park is a gem- ours to protect! Be sure to be friendly, courteous, and respectful to the locals who call this place home. It's customary to generously tip your captains, taxi drivers, tour guides and deck hands and donate to the parks - keep the awesome energy of this place alive and well funded!

This was the 20th national park that I’ve visited. It’s special place but unfortunately takes some decent planning to get to. Some of the locals were very friendly and welcoming of tourists, but many others were not. The park itself is gorgeous but, plan on renting a Jeep or something capable of driving the many switchbacks and inclines within the park. Have fun!

The beaches in this park are well-maintained and beautiful. One park guide visited with us for several minutes answering all the questions we had. He was very knowledgeable and even knew about trees and plants. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting as many beaches as we could.

Taxi tours can take you around the island for $35 but there is no set National Park tour. If you have your own car rental there are 35 beaches around the island where you can relax. St John is 67% National Park. You can get ferries from St Thomas (USVI), or Soapers Hole/Road Town (BVI). Some of the elevated views across over the islands are really lovely. You can see Epstein s island (he didn't kill himself!) And a property owned by Oppenheimer.

Amazing trails with plenty of areas to explore! Loved all the scenery and wildlife. Watch your feet, lots of hermit crabs on the Island.
