I love the cozy atmosphere and the idea of a coffee shop with crafts, but the coffee was not brilliant, and the scone was not great either. My chai was way too sweet (like the mix from Trader Joe's with extra sugar), but the lavender latte was okay. It was about $20 for the lavender latte, a chai latte, and a scone. While we did not paint any pottery, I did browse the gallery and liked that there was a huge selection and variety for items to paint. They take about a week before they're ready for pickup, but I was told they can ship them if you're unable to pick it up from the store.

Great coffee shop with views of the water and a great location for pottery and painting. This is a good place to meet as well with great seating and even window seats if you want to look out at the harbor. The coffee is great as well. I had a French Toast Latte and it was perfectly crafted!

Love this little gem. I had the best London fog latte I've ever tasted in my life. The painting is reasonable pricing. The overall atmosphere is calm and inviting.

We didn't have any food, we just came to create our ceramic treasures!!! It's so much fun. Allow time for 3-4 Coates of paint with most pieces running between $30-$45. It might be hard for kids under 5, parents should investigate first

Outstanding place. We have painted multiple times now and each time it's been a blast. The staff is wonderful and super helpful if you have any questions. Prices are fair and include as much studio time as you need. Location features a coffee bar as well with very tasty cookies.

Great place to grab coffee and bite to eat. I love that the pottery area is attached, so fun to have the artistic feel even if you're only there for the coffee. 😉 Bummed there wasn't wifi but still made for a comfy place to sit down and get some work done. Oh, and the salami & pesto panini was HEAVENLY 🤟🏻

Delicious coffee and friendly staff! We stayed and painted some gnomes, it was a delightful experience despite how packed the place was. Knowledgeable staff explain the process and check in on you regularly. I'm so excited to see my lil dude fired and shiny!

Very covid friendly, when I went there at least! Drinks are all in to-go containers, and social distancing is enforced as well as mask-wearing! We called ahead to go there, which I believe is required currently! My brother is in the background, sorry for that, but these are also from late June//early July of last year, so perhaps some things have changed! Hope this helped! Awesome place, with great drinks, employees, and section of things to paint! 💙

I attended their monthly Ladies Night Out event and it was a lot of fun! It is well organized and the staff is super helpful and friendly. There is a nice selection of paint and pottery pieces to choose from. Pottery is a tad expensive (average item is around $25) but it does include the glazing and firing of your piece. The cafe was very clean with a wide variety of drinks and snacks. There is a small selection of children’s books as well to keep little ones occupied. Overall it was a wonderful evening out and I would definitely visit again to paint another piece! (Tip: If you are an artist you might want to bring your own brushes, as their selection caters more towards crafters).

Very pleased with the unique experience and accommodations. My kids love this place and keep asking to go back. Staff was very helpful in accommodating to all of our needs. They're very patient with kids and families. Highly recommend Java and Clay Cafe. We will definitely be coming back again and again.

This place is so fun! Great way to spend an afternoon. You get to have coffee or wine, relax and paint! I also really appreciate the gf and vegan options! Love it!

Need a coffee while cruising the harbor and taking in the sights and shops? This is my go-to! They make delicious latte drinks and serve pastries to go as well! One day I'd love to paint some pottery here but have yet to do that.

A friend and I went to Java and Clay Cafe recently and had an amazing time. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious and perfect snacking sizes. The staff was helpful and very friendly. Would recommend for friends, family, or for staff bonding.

Such a cute, fun place. They young lady who helped us was great. Kinda pricey and not a large variety of pieces to choose from but an experience, memories and a good activity for kids.

This is a great spot to get your hands busy after noshing on some crafted espresso or lemonade drinks. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout the process, and it was a fun experience to paint clay sculptures. We did it for a birthday party, but I could see myself going back just for some art therapy.

Staff was super helpful and assisted us with getting little handprints on a tile. We've always had a nice time here, great selection of pieces to paint and lots of colors. It's clean and well organized. A definite asset to have Java & Clay down on the waterfront.

Nice cafe with good coffee, but we felt nickel-and-dimed. If you are craving chai, the menu says spiced chai or vanilla chai, so we ordered one of each, but there is an up-charge for each, and another up-charge for ice.

It was pretty quiet when we were there. The price seems a little spendy unless you consider the cost of buying the piece ready made by a machine, to a piece that no one else has, in the colors you would've wished they had at the mall AND doing something fun, especially with a buddy. They're very patient and helpful. All of the colors and textures we could think of were available. All of the supplies are at the table for you. They give you basic instructions, and leave you to your project without hovering. They're ready to help anytime you ask. We didn't finish our projects, but you can go back as many times as you want or need to finish a project for free. They wrap it for you so you can take it home safely. We haven't finished ours yet, so I can't review the rest of the process, but I've seen MANY projects done there at all skill levels and they always look amazing. Both the painting room, the coffee shop and the exterior are SUPER clean. The light and furniture are inviting and make you want to hang out and people watch. There's outside seating with great views of the marina and the park. There's even a post to tie your dog to with a bowl of water, if you want to go inside.

Had a great time and everyone was friendly and helpful for my son and myself. Non-toxic paints and even practice plates. Had the coffee a couple times now, good so far. They also have food, sandwiches and baked goods. Go check them out, paint washes out by the way and they have sponges you can wet and wipe the paint off right away.

This place is perfect for a parent-child time, a get to know you better date, personalizing a gift, and more! Parking is found behind the business building. Parking is limited, so prepare to park around the area if all spots are taken. Java and Clay do have gluten-free, vegan, and alcohol options. You have an option to open a tab while you paint. You can order drinks and food while painting. You can order at your seat, and they will walk the ordered drinks and food to you. The staff is friendly and kind. Ask about their painting techniques, stencils, and other forms. If you do not finish painting your pottery, you can tell them you are not finished. They'll inform you about the formal process. You take the unfinished pottery home and bring it back when you are ready. If you are done painting, then leave the pottery on the table, pay, and go. Come back in a week and grab your ready to go pottery! Simple, relaxing, and easy!

I was walking downtown with my daughter and found this hidden gem. Our family used to paint all the time but the place we used to go to in Seaside on vacation closed down and we got away from it. I am so glad we found this place! I had a tasty Carmel latte and watched my daughter paint this morning. Such a joy. We will be back!
