This place has everything special you are looking for, want the ordinary? go to Safeway want high quality cold cuts, cheese and others then shop here! Did you say wine? Yes great wine selection for table wine and more. Are you a baker? Did you see this baking area? The baked goods are fresh and delicious. The homemade chocolate chip cookies are amazing. Organic fruits and vegetables are here. Fresh raw grain, beans and organic coffees will surpass your imagination. Rows and rows of the highest quality you are looking for highest quality of organic and regular foods. Let’s talk cheese did you see the pics of cheese? More cheese than you ever tried! The staff has available some samples you can test out.

Wonderful, helpful happy people. A great first time experience. Prices can be more than across the street Safeway, think like Tacoma Boys or Seattle thriftway on some items. Other prices are comparable to Fred Meyer. Mostly impressed with how much to visually take in and how friendly staff was.

I dread making trips here… because every time it feels like it cost an arm or leg sometimes both ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Honestly the selection and quality says it all. The deli section, ridiculous. The various salad bars from olives to poké, insane. And of course don’t forget about The Cookie, so good boarder line addictive. Be warned. The only reason it doesn’t get five stars is because the prices but I totally get it, especially these days. If I could win a super market sweepstakes to a store this would be the choice haha it’s a foodie’s paradise.

I love Metropolitan Market. We have been one of your clients since you first opened and we were North End residents. We now live in Lakewood, but Metropolitan Market is still my go to place for food shopping. It is one of the main things that bring me back to the Proctor area. I guess that explains my dismay at seeing self-checkout being installed at my last visit. Of course, I've come to relish the wonderful array of cheeses, meats and produce you always have, but what has always made the store special to me is the friendly feeling, the feel of community that you get when you are in the store. And that feeling comes from the folks in the various departments and as a final send off by those manning the check out booths. The self-check out made me think of a Wall Mart type store. Not the culture that I now drive all the way from Lakewood to experience. It is a further de-personalizing of our culture. Is there anyway that can be limited or, better yet, go away.

It was a little before 6pm and I stood in front of the deli for a good 10 mins before being told by an employee working the hot food section that they were closed. Another employee working the cheese area avoided making eye contact with me the entire time. I’m just a little perplexed at how individuals will only help people in the sections they’re working in. How hard is it to fill up a container of potato salad, enter the item number then weigh it? I guess now and days that’s asking for too much… I ended up making my way over to Safeway to get my potato salad and the rest of my grocery list.

I truly loved visiting this store it was clean and had a large variety of food items. Everything was well organized and the people were friendly this is the first time I have been in a grocery store where the produce looked all organized in a row and so colorful I just stood there and was amazed I only wish there was one of these stores near me in Florida. I will for sure return to this store when I come back in town. They had wonderful bakery items and a place u can get fresh coffee and sit outside and relax. Very nice.

Love the Metropolitan market on Proctor in Tacoma. Super clean, very fresh produce and lots of variety. Plus, their baked in store cookies are to-die-for. Best of all is their wine shop. If you can't find the label you're looking for, they take special orders, and you don't need to purchase a case. Also, their wine people are very knowledgeable and helpful. Overall, a fantastic place to shop.

The ladies at the florist have provided some of the best customer service I have ever experienced in a flower shop. I'll be shopping here for the foreseeable future.

This is my favorite grocery store. They have so many specialty items that fit every holiday. Recently bought the fir candle and it smells amazing. They have a great selection of pre-packaged foods, cheeses, meats, and alcohol. Everything about this grocery store is wonderful! Beware-it's not wallet friendly. Only two negatives. One, I purchased a mermaid cupcake with a fondant tail. It looked really good but it had like no taste to it. Two, they have a variety of fresh breads available unfortunately, the best bread is $1 from Walmart that are perfect for Italian grinder sandwiches.

I am just now getting around to this. Our son was married on July 7 of this year which means it was our responsibility to host a rehearsal dinner for him and the bride-to-be. In April I came in to inquire about what they offered. Nick (in the hot case area) was the one I spoke to first. He was responsive, professional and knowledgeable. Weeks went by and my husband and I came back in, however, at that time we spoke to another associate who would take over our order and help us. Well, if you really want the catering done correctly, make sure you request Nick (in the hot case area) who will go above the call of duty. After coordinating with the other associate, I was still left with many questions and concerns (my reason for 4 stars). When it was finally given back to Nick to handle our order and concerns, he gave us his direct number, made me feel more assured of what they could provide and the amount of food needed....Okay, I ordered way too much, but that doesn't affect them negatively...we scheduled a pick up, how it would be packaged, how to pay for it. I gave the store manager a Thank You card giving Kudos to Nick and his professionalism and how wonderful the food was. The compliments kept coming in about the food: Caribbean Pulled Pork, Turkey & Gravy, mashed potatoes, seasoned carrots....other items were provided through other vendors...salad, roll, desserts. Metro Market's food is very good...you can order meals to go which will give you a sense of what things taste like. Thank you for making our Wedding rehearsal dinner fabulous!

My all time favorite grocery store. They have everything and their produce display is so beautiful. The way they display produce makes you want to buy all sorts of produce! It’s been 2 years since I’ve been able to find Romanesco broccoli. I finally found some here. Want to buy one of the amazing chocolate chip cookies there? When you receive it…it’s going to be warm. Oh. Em. Gee!! Prices are on the high end but stick to the sales and you may find a couple deals. This is just a beautiful store…period.

If you live near the store or have a chance to visit the store and you like whole foods, this is going to be a place you want to check out. I prefer it over whole foods honestly.

  • 5/5 Allison W. 10 months ago on Google
You should definitely check it out if you appreciate whole foods, live nearby, or have the opportunity to do so. Actually, I like it better than entire foods.

The flower stand is so beautiful, gorgeous flowers and the wrapping is so nice! Also pricing for them is very reasonable!

I recently visited and was disappointed by the overall lack of friendliness displayed by the staff. Many employees seemed disengaged, unapproachable, and uninterested in providing a pleasant shopping experience. Improved customer service training and a focus on fostering a more welcoming atmosphere would greatly benefit the store.

My husband and I went last week. I came for the cookies and he wanted the chocolate milk but we ended up leaving with more 😅. Love the produce selection and we’ll definitely be back. 😁

Alice at the cheese/meat deli went above and beyond helping me pick out cheeses and meats to pair on my first charcuterie board! Very patient and knowledgeable, I would have been very lost without her :)

Favorite bakery - best cakes in town for special occasions. Everything about the Met is five stars. Great customer service to the finest produce and meats.

This place has so many great things that you don't find at a run of the mill chain grocery store. Fantastic quality in everything they do. The bakery is by far the best part in my opinion!

A sign said organic seedless watermelons 9.99 so we stopped in. Looking high and low we finally found them next to the cantaloupes; someone had painted a batch of lopes watermelon colors and did a darn good job. You know has fantastic fat watermelons? Afghanistan.

I’ve been coming here for years, since it was Queen Anne Thriftway. The staff are always very kind, helpful, and feel like a home away from home. The prices are higher than your traditional grocery store but are worth it and it’s a great place for hot food!

Great food options for everyone. The prices are a little more then the regular grocery store. However my family and I visit often and always love the selection especially in the deli. Also try a fresh cookie before you leave they are delicious.
