I called Blue Sky Veterinary Services at the recommendation of a friend. I am so glad I did! My dog needed knee surgery and other veterinary hospitals wouldn’t even get him in for a consult for weeks. We had a consult at Blue Sky within a few days and scheduled surgery shortly after that. Their price for the surgery was very reasonable and fair. My big boy is a handful and has some anxiety issues. The staff at Blue Sky took wonderful care of him, understood his needs and did everything in their power to keep him as comfortable as possible. Surgery went perfectly and the staff made sure we knew what to expect as far as aftercare, etc. I’ve been extremely happy with the entire experience with Blue Sky and would definitely recommend them (and already have to several dog parents.) I’m very thankful I found Dr Ferrell and his excellent team.

Amazing staff and incredibly skilled surgeons at Blue Sky. We had to schedule our French bulldog puppy for emergency surgery after he fractured his right shoulder and Blue Sky juggled their busy schedule around to accommodate us last minute. Their surgeon did an excellent job and at about half the price I was initially quoted at Veterinary Specialty Hospital of San Diego. After surgery, the staff would respond at all hours of the day to questions that came up regarding post-surgical care. I would recommend this team to anyone and everyone.

My sweet girl suffered a degenerative cranial cruciate ligament tear at the young age of 2.5. Everyone at the clinic was amazing with her. Dr.Paul explained and also executed the TPLO procedure very well. I will recommend this facility to friends and family not just for the cost savings, but also for the amazing patient care! Lotus is back to living her best life thanks to Animal Outpatient Surgery of San Diego! 💗🐾

I highly recommend Dr. Paul and his team at Animal Outpatient Surgery. The space is clean/sanitary, inviting and the staff make you feel welcome and at home with the care for your furbaby. Dr. Paul is one of a kind with his gentle demeanor and honest in his findings which he communicates effectively and humbly as if your pet was his own. I've taken my boxer girl to Dr. Paul on multiple occasions and would never go anywhere else. I have deep appreciation, respect and love for Dr. Paul and Tina. You will not be disappointed in choosing their care.

I was referred to Dr.Farrell by my primary vet for a my dog's torn ACL. Dr.Farrell and his are top notch. Since this was my first experience with dog surgery, he took the time to explain how a dogs ACL works, what happens when it's torn, what they dog to fix it, and possible risk. This team has so much experience with TPLO surgery, they told me what would happen after surgery, and when to expect it. It's been a few weeks now after my dog has been fully recovered, and he acts like he's never injured his leg before. I would highly recommend Dr.Farrell and his team for your pet's TPLO needs.

Dr. Farrell and his entire team are beyond outstanding. They are compassionate and understanding. Dr. Farrell walked us through every step of the procedure and any possible complications. He eased our nerves on a surgery for our 11 yr old German shepherd. The prices are super reasonable and affordable. They all just want the best for your animal and treats them like their own. I will recommend them to anyone I know who's animal needs to have a surgical procedure.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am so pleased with Abby's results of her TPLO Surgery. She healed very quickly and after 2 months she was discharged by Dr. Farrell. Another important reason for Blue Sky Veterinary getting 5 stars is that they don't "rip you off." The results were phenomenal and the staff explained exactly what to expect. Very knowledgeable. I highly recommend Blue Sky for orthopedic surgical needs for your pets.

Searched on Google and Yelp for an orthopedic surgeon after one of my pups tore her CCL. Based on the great reviews, I decided to call. Spoke with Tina and she was calm, patient and informative, answered my questions and explained everything well. Tori also took really good care of us in the office. Our consultation was with Dr. Farrell, while enthusiastic is very caring and comforting. He thoroughly explained the recommended procedure of TPLO surgery including any complications and aftercare and put my mind at ease. While he wasn’t the surgeon that performed her surgery, he had assured me of the other incredible surgeons on staff. I believe Dr. Waypart performed her surgery with Christopher assisting. They did a beautiful job. Christopher and Katie walked me through her puppy PT and took care of her post op procedures. The entire staff is wonderful! Whenever I had questions or concerns they quickly responded. We are 9 weeks post op and our girl is happily walking over 2 1/2 miles daily, running and bouncing around with our other pup. We are truly grateful for their level of care and abilities. I highly recommend Animal Outpatient Surgery of SD.

Dr. Farrell & the whole team did an outstanding job caring for my high-strung, senior, scary-looking (but dopey) dog. I was unhappy with other referrals provided by my vet & found Animal Outpatient Surgery by googling the type of surgery (TPLO) in San Diego. These folks are my kind of people: down to earth, knowledgeable, & they truly love animals. Their pricing was transparent & reasonable, & we received excellent individualized care & attention. After the leg surgery they did a subsequent skin surgery to address a biopsy. My dog hates going to the regular vet and LOVES going to see his friends at Animal Outpatient Surgery; I think that says a lot, all they do is knock out my dog & operate on him lol, & he LOVES every member of the team.

My Shepard mix, Perdix, had luxating patella on both her knees. Dr. Farrell and his team took care of her right leg (worse) first & then when her left leg showed worsening they fixed that one too. For both surgeries Dr. Farrell walked me through exactly what to would occur during surgery & what to expect afterward. Chris was amazing walking me through how to help Perdix heal and give her at home physical therapy. Tori and Tina were so sweet keeping me updated on my girl during each surgery. The whole staff here is wonderful, kind, sincere & truly cares for your pet. Very thankful for their help getting Perdix back to her old energetic self!

I rarely write reviews, but this team deserves an immense amount of credit. I want to thank Dr. Farrell and the wonderful team of Tina, Katie, Chris and Tori. Our rescue cat Wiley had a freak accident where he fell and broke all his paw bones on his right front foot. I took him to a local vet who said all they could do was wrap his paw and hope for the best. After a few weeks, they said the only option was amputation of his entire leg. We couldn’t imagine doing this. So, after calling multiple places to see what else could be done, I found Animal Outpatient Surgery and we are so grateful for them. Dr. Farrell was honest and clear about the risks, but Wiley went through surgery, putting pins in his tiny claws. He wore a bandage that he was not happy about, and he tore it off a couple of times. Katie, Chris and Tina were there every time I had to come in and get him re-bandaged. They were so willing to help me with my schedule, and Tina answered my early morning calls, when we would find that Wiley had pulled off his bandage once again. They kept in contact with me and responded to my calls almost immediately, can you believe this? This was a costly endeavor, but Wiley is worth it. Dr. Farrell and Tina clearly told us what it would cost and it was very reasonable. We were given one price and that was it, nothing more. This healing took weeks, but Wiley is now walking, with virtually no indication of his accident. I really thought he would probably limp for the rest of his life, but he is walking and running normally, and continuing to get into trouble, thus his name Wiley. I can’t believe that someone else would have amputated his entire leg! Thank you Chris, Tina, and Katie who cared so much for Wiley. And of course Dr. Farrell for saving Wiley’s leg!!

The entire staff is amazing! Very friendly and helpful. Dr. Farrell is so great! He really took his time and explained what was wrong and what type of surgery was needed. He explained it to us patiently and used a model of the knee to show us. When we picked up our dog after surgery his assistant was just as amazing. He took his time to explain how the surgery went, what they found when they opened her up, and what her after surgery care and exercise should be during recovery. They also have such reasonable prices!! It’s very evident that the entire staff truly loves animals!

Dr. Farrell, Tina, Tori and the whole staff are some of the nicest, empathetic, kindest and most compassionate folks I’ve met with many years of experience that show! Maya had the unfortunate pleasure of having two TPLO and one meniscus procedure done at Blue Sky. While no one wants to have to go through the stress of taking their furry loved one through these procedures, the folks at BlueSky were gentle and reassuring with each and every interaction I had with them. The team is quick to follow-up and provide updates before, during and after procedures and are readily available via text or phone to answer any questions you may. A huge thank you to BlueSky for making what should be a stressful experience an easygoing one through-and-through. Most importantly, a big thank you on behalf of Maya who is back to chasing balls and running on the beach better than ever! You all rock!!

I am a local small animal veterinarian that owned my own practice in San Diego for over 20 years. I've used Dr. Farrel's mobile services for my clients hundreds of times over the years with excellent outcomes. In the past 3 months I've taken two of my dogs in for surgery. One large breed dog for a TPLO who recovered quickly and was fully weight bearing within 3 days. My next dog needed her spleen removed. The surgery went extremely well. The staff is personable, caring and skilled. The facility is immaculate. Excellent place to bring your pet for competent care.

We brought our crazy German Shepard in for a confirmation of cruciate ligament rupture. After a bad experience at an unprofessional facility, we got a 2nd opinion at a vet in Temecula (wonderful) and based on the results of the 2nd opinion, they referred us to this facility. At first I was unsure because of the drive (over an hour without traffic), but the second I walked for the consult, I knew we were making the best decision. They made Stella and myself (and my boyfriend on surgery day) feel so welcome and comfortable. I knew we were making the best decision for our girl. The doctor was so thorough in explaining the procedure and why we were even there in the 1st place. Surgery day was a success. Stella healed very well. The whole team did such an amazing job. When we arrived for the 2 week post op, Stella was SOOOOO excited to see Tina and the rest of the staff (another indication we made the right decision). We just went in for Stella’s 8 week post op! She healed up great and is on the road to recovery! I do know that if Stella was to rupture the other ligament, we will be coming back here hands down!! Thanks again to Dr. Paul Farrel, Tina, and the rest of the staff!! Stella, Jamie, and I appreciate you!!

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Farrell and the team at Animal Outpatient Surgery of San Diego and Blue Sky Veterinary. I'm so grateful that the amazing (and deserved) reviews here allowed me to find them, and led me to decide to go with them for my beloved dog Honey's successful TPLO surgery. Honey needed surgery after a full rupture of her CCL - the canine equivalent of the ACL. Since this is a specialized surgery, I was devastated to discover that my trusted vet could not perform it, and I was left to my own research to quickly find someone I could trust to help my dog. Let me start by saying that my decision to with Dr. Farrell and the team at Animal Outpatient had NOTHING to do with the incredible price they offer. Yes, they charge far less than the big hospitals, but what is more important to me is the care, skill and value that they deliver. Honestly for me, the fact that so many of the reviews here were about how much less they charge was the only concern for me, as I wasn't looking for the best deal possible, I was looking for the best care possible, as soon as possible, and the best outcome possible. Fortunately, this is exactly what I found. I was relieved when I contacted them and they could get her in for surgery far faster than anyone else we contacted. This was key, as I did not want Honey to have to suffer and wait longer than necessary for surgery for her debilitating injury, and I suspected that the longer she waited, the more damage she could do to her knee. When I called to schedule her surgery, the staff was kind, caring and attentive on the phone, and I felt hopeful we made the right choice. They were also the ONLY clinic I called who actually instructed us to keep Honey resting and doing as little as possible to avoid further damage. You'd hope that this kind of thing would be standard practice, but unfortunately, with big hospitals much falls through the cracks and the result can be disastrous. After this first scheduling call, I felt confident we had made the right choice. When we met Dr. Farrell at the consult appointment, my confidence that we had made the right choice was confirmed. Dr Farrell was kind, caring, and obviously a master of his field. He took the time to explain everything, which is important to me. I'm the kind of person who does a lot of research and has specific questions, and it is important to me that any doctor I choose - whether for people or pets - be able and willing to answer my questions. Dr. Farrell outperformed my hopes and expectations in his ability and willingness to answer my questions. If you have a smaller dog who would be a candidate for the less-costly surgery alternative to the TPLO, Dr. Farrell will go over the pros and cons of each surgery, and leave the decision truly up to you (as long as the pre-op x-rays confirm your dog is physiologically a good candidate for the alternative). Honey's surgery went perfectly, and she came home the same day. Being able to bring her home the same day rather than her spending the night in the hospital was another important factor for us. Keep in mind this is likely one of the ways they are able to get the cost down - by not forcing unnecessary treatments that incur additional expenses. Honey was putting weight on her leg within a day, and started treating it like a normal leg very, very quickly. At the 8 week follow up, she was fully healed and ready to get back to living normal life! She traveled to Europe 2 days later, and has already been enjoying 3-5 mile hikes, which might be the longest she has ever even done! (Maybe because she's so happy to be enjoying life again!) I am so grateful for Dr. Farrell, the team, and the primary surgeon who handled the TPLO (Dr. Farrell assisted). They gave Honey her life back, and gave me my sanity through the process. If you are looking for the best possible care for your best friend, and with the added benefit of the best possible price, look no further - you have found it right here.

Dr. Farrell and his team are the best! From the very first phone call to the last follow up visit, this wonderful group of people have been amazing. My 9 year old boxer had knee surgery and they took excellent care of him. There were some challenges during the healing process but Dr. Farrell knew what to do to get my dog back on track to a successful recovery. Everyone was patient, kind, and caring. They were responsive, professional, and very helpful. I highly recommend Dr. Farrell and his team!

I had a great experience with Dr. Farrell and his team. I won't hesitate to bring another pet to him for future surgeries. My cat urgently needed hip/leg surgery (FHO, femoral head removal). He went from seemingly fine, to a pretty bad limp, to screaming on the floor unable to walk within a week. Our primary vet was booking surgeries three weeks out. We were extremely lucky and Dr. Farrell had an opening for the next day. The phone communication with Tina and Tori was outstanding and the team made us feel very comfortable when we dropped off our cat; Dr. Farrell took the time to answer all of our questions and explained the surgery in detail. The follow up visit and rapid response to our questions during recovery was much appreciated. They have given my cat a second chance at a high quality life.
