The park was awesome, but the “welcome” was trash! Bailey was so rude and laughed at me when I asked if there was a military discount. I paid, then was a sign for a discount, asked about it and she said I could go do that online my next visit and then an extremely sarcastic “have a nice day”! The park itself was pretty awesome! Got to see an alligator, and the sky walk was worth the entire trip! Lots of great plants to see! Didn’t want to like it after dealing with Bailey, but despite here being terrible, I did love the park.

Great park for wildlife. We were going to ride our ebikes and there is plenty of road to ride. The gators were out when we rode through. The tower and bird walk were still closed from Ian so we will go back when those reopen.

So glad to see that the bird walk is open. The canopy walk/ tower is fun with views of the area from the top 117 steps up. Camping in Big Flatts is a favorite.

I love this park. I visited 5 consecutive days after going the first day. Everyday I saw something different. Will surely visit it whenever I am in the region. @awashingtonphotography

I stopped here on a sunny day in mid November and it was wonderful. Very large park that has animal viewing areas along with plenty of places to park along the road. If you want to see a gator it's pretty easy, there are small pull of areas (with warning signs) that allow you look out onto the water and see the gators in or around the water. Plenty of birds flying around and other animals if you keep your eyes open.

We really like coming here for the day and camping. We rented a pavilion for the first time and specifically got Clay Gulley for the small playground shown on the website. Super bummed to say there is NO playground. If this was my first visit, I'd rate it lower. But we've come here many times and have enjoyed everything else.

You must go to Myakka River State Park. We saw beautiful woods, alligators and pink spoonbills along with many other birds. This park is a treasure that should not be missed.

Pretty park, but the main reason we can was for the canopy walk attraction and it’s still closed off as of 3/18/23. Almost 4 months of closure….

This place was amazing, we saw lot of armadillos and rabbits during the night, during the day we saw a lot of alligators and deers. The place was beautiful the canopy towel was beautiful, the ranger that was at the entrance was amazing and helped us every time we had questions. The camping amenities where clean every time we used them, we thought that there would be too much mosquitoes but there weren't that much. Sadly our tent got flooded the second night because our tent site had little unlevel spots and our tent wasn't the best for the heavy rain so have in mind if you are going to camp during bad weather. Even with bad weather we decided to stay a fourth night because the place is amazing.

Never disappoints! Always wildlife and landscape photo ops! Saw 15 species of birds today...from rosette spoonbills and egrets to stilts and little blue juveniles... Lots of gators as always. Well worth the $6 entry fee.

First of all: I'm not reviewing the state park ranger station here, but rather the state park itself. The park is located just outside of Sarasota east of Highway 75 and is very easy to get to. The entrance fee for my wife and I in our own car cost $6. I read somewhere that you pay extra for the vehicle and then again for the people, that wasn't the case with us. So you drive into the park and see a lot of beautiful, more or less “untouched” nature. There are many animals to see, especially a variety of birds and lots of alligators that frolic in the various waters. In all of our visits to the Everglades this year, we haven't seen as many alligators as we did here. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have rained much in the area for a long time. The water level was very, very low, which also meant that boat tours could not take place at the moment. It's a shame, because we would have particularly liked to see the pink spoonbill a little closer, as it could only be seen from a long distance on the other side of the lake. In addition to exploring nature from the car, there are also some hiking trails, a lookout tower with a treetop path, but you can also have a picnic at various designated points and even grill at the grills. We really liked it (especially the lots of Spanish moss on the trees), we would recommend it.
