The tip of Lewes! It’s a fantastic place with much to do and learn with absolutely breathtaking views. Explore, run, camp, climb the tower and get a breathtaking view of the sunrise. Leave the phone at home and truly immerse yourself in nature.

We go every weekend. The nice thing about this area is, when the parking lot gets full the close until people leave and make room. There isn’t an over abundance of people. Very clean. Showers, Food, Life Guards. No Dogs.

I've gone here almost every summer and I've found new things to do every time!!! I recommend the observation tower at sunset, it's breathtaking. Rehoboth Beach is very close which is nice.

We came here with family and had a great time. The beach was clean and there were plenty of lifeguards for the kids. We brought our own cooler and canopy. I recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks because the selection at the snack bar is limited and pricey. The waves weren't too big and the kids had a great time jumping around in the surf. It stays shallow for quite a ways and we had a blast swimming. The parking lot had plenty of space, but it is quite a walk to the sand, so keep that in mind when deciding what to bring.

Beautiful park with an awesome borrow-a-bike program! The museum is very well kept and the nature center is filled with cool information! I definitely suggest stopping by the pier for the view of the coast and the Lewes-Cape May ferry. The beach was much less crowded than Rehoboth and stretched for quite a ways. There are multiple places to get a great view of the whole beach and the ocean. If you enjoy the beach, hiking trails, and nature, then this park is for you.

One of the best parks ever!! In the summer, the sunrises at Herring Point are beyond beautiful. The nature center is also a great place to visit and you can borrow bikes for free! The programs offered through the nature center are really fun for both kids and adults.

A fantastic beach choice in Delaware! It's less crowded than Rehoboth, and arriving early helped us find easy parking. While the bathroom could be improved, the overall experience was great. We spent the entire day sunbathing and enjoying the beach. Highly recommended!

We really enjoyed Henlopen State Park with it's campgrounds and the beach as it was not crowded. Water was still on a cooler side. You can visit also Fort Miles historic place. This is such a great place for adults with children. The dogs are welcomed. Communal bathrooms are OK. You can purchase right at the campground's little store the necessities including fire wood. It was fun!

Excellent biking. Both finished trails, limited single track, very easy. Nice WW II museum. One of the towers was open to the public and was able to climate. Very nice fishing pier, with an osprey nest. Beautiful scenery, excellent history, and nature with awesome bird watching opportunities here.

We visited Friday of Labor weekend. We arrived around 8AM and biked a number of the trails and most of the way down Gordon's Pond trail. We parked at the nature center and took the loop to the left or clockwise. There are bathrooms that are pretty nice to the left at the playground area since the nature center doesn't open until 9AM. The nature center also rents out bikes for free. You have to go into the nature center to fill out a formal, and that's it. 2 hrs maximum. We also stopped by and visited Fort Miles. There is a small exhibit there right now, but they have plans to expand it for sure, which sounds like it's going to be great. The large gun batteries outside are also very cool to look at, and the scale is just insane. The weird note is that the bathrooms here include showers! I didn't try them but was very surprised. We visited the nature center after we got back from our ride. There were a bunch of other cyclists out there, even that early on a Friday morning. By the time we finished, the whole parking lot was full. The visit center has a number of aquariums that show sealife at different tidal zones. There is a large touch tank with horseshoe crabs and a gift shop too. There is also a theater room that plays a short video on a loop and a turtle and snake. We could've easily spent the whole day at the park but we had other plans in the afternoon which was good as the park was starting to get really full. I was told by one of the staff at the Nature Center that on busy days they do have to close the park at the gate for capacity.

love this beach! very beautiful and nice bathrooms... if you drive on, tho, make sure your line is in the water at all times, because if the beach patrol catches you with it out of the water (even if its 10 minutes before you are leaving lol) high cance, you will get a fine. :) the town is super nice though, and there are lots of nice places to eat!

Great park with kind staff. Spots are close together but have enough space. They have a picnic table as well as a grill. Many or all have an electrical hookup. The bathrooms are all handicap accessible. There were 4 showers in our area that were not only handicap accessible but also didn't require quarters. The park is beautiful.

Cape Henlopen has an excellent beach with trails and camping near. They have ramps for the pier and ramp to go down onto the beach. It's a good experience for a quieter day of sun and ocean waves. I find these State Park beaches are popular in high season, but they settle down nicely after 2 pm in summer. Then, all day they're easy-going after the beginning of September. I saw designated areas for dogs, and I promised our teen son we'll have a day with his little dogs. My husband and I spent a day there October 1st and it was busy but not crowded. The views of the lighthouse, the ocean, and sand dunes behind us made the day. This State Park and beach rates high in my book for having an accessible beach for disabled, plenty of parking, dog friendly sections, and being quieter without boardwalk noise, or street traffic.

Beach was crowded but not bad for a public park on a holiday. Beach was also fairly accessible for those with wheelchairs. Food from concession stand was great! Tasty chicken strips (not minced chicken pressed into nuggets), crispy fries - all served quickly and hot. Only drawback was getting into the parking lot. No signage at main road letting us know that those with state park passes could get in the left lane and move through faster. This also caused more slowdowns as cars merged between the two lanes.

A beautiful park, has nice beaches. Beaches there are unguarded. You can bring your dog anytime during the day or year. $5 (in state) $10 (out of state) day parking fee. Fishing is allowed in specific areas and you may drive with your car right to the beach in those areas but need to purchase a permit online or at the city hall in advance.

What a beautiful park. The lady at the front was so kind and informative. The signage, the park, the bathroom, the beach was all so great. We got to see horseshoe crabs, played the disc golf course and just overall loved everything about this park. I would love to see more state parks like this across the US! They are doing something right here. Thanks so much!!

Beautiful park just far walk from campground to beach areas, really must drive or ride a bike. Campground needs more bathrooms and larger playground.

I have lived in Delaware 30 years and even though I knew it existed I never been here until just this month, day trip. First of all parking is not expensive if you live in the state. Might be few dollars more if you are from another state. The map of the park is little difficult to understand. Had to ask people which direction was the Fort Miles museum. The Cannons and military truck was neat. Not much to see in museum as thought there would be. The observation tower was closed so could not go inside. After this we headed to other side of park and went in nature center. That was like a mini aquarium with a hands on experience too. Kids liked it. Then we went to the beach area I guess there are a few entrances to the beach but we took one closest to light house in distance. The sand ramp to the beach was a hard walk especially for us not used to walking thru sand on a hot day with medical issues like asthma. Some older couples had to stop and catch breath too. Once we got to a area to set stuff down we wanted nothing but to head for ocean. That was great except for a couple jelly fish and crabs?? Pinching our toes ouch! The beach was not really crowded maybe 30 families spread out. At one point my daughter and I were only ones in Ocean for miles. Thought that was weird and cool at same time. Could see dolphins out deep. If there was a route to lighthouse other than by boat we didn't see it. Over all had great time.

This place is phenomenally beautiful. Sweeping views of the ocean and interesting structures left over from World War II. You can walk to the beach from your campsite. The cons of this place are those big stinging flies and the campground sites are very close together.

Beautiful beaches at this park. Only $10 to get in. Got very busy in the afternoons but the morning we were able to find parking and enjoy our space. Bathrooms available as well. A little walk to the beach but not too bad

What a wonderful place! A beautiful pine forest that is a pleasure to run around, clean fresh air and lots of shade. An observation tower, artillery guns, and an amazing WWII museum. And that’s not all - there is a great beach, with a wooden boardwalk to the sand, bathrooms and shower facilities, super convenient and well thought through. Plan a lot of time to explore. We haven’t camped here, but I bet it’s a hot spot that is reserved fast.

It's a perfect state beach with scenic views, clean sand and water, and most importantly, it's not overwhelmed with people, even in peak tourist season!

Park is beautifully maintained by volunteers. It has a great historical Fort Miles Museum. The trails are great for biking or hiking. The Ocean views , dunes, and beach areas are well maintained with beautiful views. There is also an observation tower with spectacular Ocean views.

We love to go camping at this place! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The campground is clean and well ordered and the beach is very nice, especially if you go after Labor Day like we like to do to avoid the crowds. We enjoy the free bikes from the bike barn.(you can borrow them for two hours and ride around on the trails. For a large family it’s great not to have to haul bikes around with you.) I there’s a nice tower you can climb up and get great views from.

Gorgeous state park. Costs $10 for out of state vehicles and $5 for in state. Main beach was very busy even when we got there at 3. We drove around a bit and found a much quieter area at the point. There were no lifeguards there (at the point), but it was so peaceful!

We had a great time visiting this park with our kiddos, all under five. The beach was accessible (though largely roped off for bird nesting — we’ll have to go back at a better time of year for human exploration) and the best part for our kids was being able to get in the water on the cape side without fighting waves! We will definitely be back to explore more.

We've visited the park in the past, but this was our first time camping at the campground. One of the best state parks we've ever visited. Facilities are clean and well maintained. There are bike paths that will take you anywhere you want to go within the park. Our favorite spot is the west side of the point, especially at low tide when you can search for snails, hermit crabs, horseshoe crabs, and other wildlife. Definitely a perennial for us. Can't wait to stay again next year!

There's no need to pay during the off season but this park is stunning. The bay, the ocean, the piers, the display military equipment. My son loves tanks and this place was a blast for him! The hawk look out. The trails. This place is so much fun to explore. The towers are amazing as well! You can even see new jersey in some areas!

This is a beautiful park with stunning views of the coast and sunrise. There is a bike path too that offers equally breathtaking views of the area. The only reason I gave this 4 stars is I thought the campground store was on the smaller side compared to other campgrounds that I’ve been to. Also, there are no sewer hookups at the individual site but there are three dump stations upon exiting the park. Electricity and water hookups were available. Since this is a woodsy campground, there were definitely more mosquitos - so bug repellant is a must. Cell coverage was spotty in case that’s important to you. Based on views and location, I would highly recommend staying here.

Amazing experience was able to access all the beaches within 10 minutes of bicycle riding from the tent. campsites are amazing. have tree cover, allowing for a cozy experience, People are wonderful and friendly closest beach took me three minutes to get there from a campsite on a bicycle.

Awesome place to visit, plenty of activities, separate areas for swimming and fishing, plus beautiful view of a lighthouse. Only thing I had an issue with was that the stores were not open except on weekends only at the time of my visit. But was able to see the hawks, deer, and wild turkeys.

  • 4/5 Mike S. 10 months ago on Google
Went up into the WWII watch tower. See photos. I suggest going during fall season (less crowded). Single line of traffic to get into the park during summertime. Prepare to sit in line for 15 min. to enter the park.( fee to enter) Once in, no problems.

  • 5/5 Jeremiah G. 10 months ago on Google
I love the State Park. With that being said, I only go in the fall and spring due to my work schedule. I know the summer is a little hectic, but that is summertime in a resort area. I enjoy sitting on the pier, watching the water, and looking at the wildlife as I drive through. If you are calm and patient enough, the deer will eat out of your hand, even the turkeys will come up to you. This place is absolutely relaxing to me.

Great park with lots to do for just $10 if you visit from out of state. We visited during off season during the first weekend of October. We enjoyed visiting the Nature Center, which is a small room with 5 different fish aquariums and a small touch tank, which is nice for the kids. We were just a few minutes too late to partake in the borrow a bike program, but it's a great program that allows you to take a bike for free and ride the trails around the park. We visited the beach area, which has a convenient bath house and lots of space to stretch out along the sand. There's sightseeing to enjoy- lighthouses, wildlife, and gorgeous water views. We definitely recommended climbing the observation tower to take in the sights. For a fun activity, count the number of stairs as you climb to the top! How many stairs did you count? There's also an area to drive out on the beach for vehicles that are approved to do so, kayaks, and a military museum. Definitely worth the trip in the summer or the off season.

  • 4/5 Nicole C. 1 year ago on Google
Nice beach. Gets VERY crowded in the summer - you need to get here early for a decent spot and/or some peace and quiet. Just be aware there are multiple beach entry points. The beach at the end of the road (“The Point” parking lot) is for people who park their trucks on the sand… we didn’t realize that at first. The better beach is the first one you come across that has the big parking lot and the pavilion/snack bar. I recommend checking out the rest of the park as well. There’s trails and some historical sites. $10/day for out-of-staters, $5/day for Delaware residents.
