I took my family here to celebrate my mothers 49th birthday a group of 8 people the wait staff was rude. The owner made a stupid comment to my mother and said he would love to hire me as a waiter not knowing that I have two college degrees and not interested in working there.

Decided to treat my hubby to red snapper for Father’s Day and Cuban Pete’s did not disappoint! Had the Coconut Shrimp with mango salsa & cheese coconut rice, delicious! Great music and atmosphere, I suggest sitting in their inner courtyard. Also it’s BYOB so bring wine, rum, or tequila to add to fruit or sangria mixers by the pitcher. The owners are lovely and hospitable. I will definitely be returning and bringing friends!

I went a bit crazy with the stars,but let me tell you why... I came to Cuban Pete's as a guest of a friend as we were a party of 4. All adults and we were allowed to bring our own bottled wine. Pretty cool idea.. The food was generous and super delicious!. I had the steak rice and beans. The steak was cooked as I liked and my friends steak was cooked to her liking. My lady had coconut fish, and she truly enjoyed it even though she's not a huge fan of coconut. The four of us all loved our food!. The waiter was very attentive and not overbearing. The atmosphere in the afternoon was like a nice outdoor cafe. The prices were definitely affordable, and I shall return! Parking is a bit sketchy but worth it!.

Great food and ambiance, you can eat outside and enjoy the weather or indoors when it's not as nice. Had the tapas, wanted to try as much as I could, will be back to have a main course and did I mention it's BYOB 🔥🔥

First time here and it was an Absolutely awesome experience with a side of great tasting food worth the 15 min wait! lol all jokes aside Jon our server was on point always checked on us & kept us informed on our orders,etc. food came out fast and it was delicious and so tasteful. Great food. We have been to this restaurant many times, and are never disappointed. They have a great selection of delicious entrees and tasty appetizers. Today we got baby back ribs and vegetable paella. It was really good. The rice and beans that came with the ribs had just the right amount of spices and was moist and tender. We both filled up and still have enough for another meal!

Haven't visited this place in years so decided to pop in for an early dinner with my aunts. We all enjoyed our food but the service was a bit lacking. We went on a Monday night, they were surprisingly busy and it was noisy. We passed on the outdoor seating and sat inside.

TLDR; we saw the same rat over 5 times in the span of 20 minutes, and the manager gave us an attitude about it. So we sat down and had a great meal, the food was great, and our waiter was really nice. After getting boxes for our food and waiting for our check we saw this rat off in the distance and we watched it run back and forth under a table for a few minutes. I was trying not to make a big deal out of it, but I think our waiter could tell something was wrong and he asked, and i said everything was fine. Then my partner pointed out the rat, and the waiter walked over to where the rat was and looked at it. I asked if there was anything that could be done about our check, like a discount or something and he said he would let me know. Eventually, a manager came over and asked why we wanted a discount and I explained the whole RAT IN THE RESTAURANT situation. Anyway, after some time our kind waiter came back and apologized and thanked us for our patience and was honestly really understanding of the situation. The manager comes back and says that they were able to give us a 15% discount….. We were sorting out payment with the check and by the time they came to collect the check THE RAT SHOWED UP AT LEAST TWO MORE TIMES! The waiter happened to be there again and was able to literally see it from our table with us. He apologized again (honestly he was the best). I think the rat showed up on more time, and i just couldn’t take it anymore and waited for my partner at the door while they were still sorting out the tip and stuff like that.

Nice space and ambience. You don't feel like your in NJ. The patio seating in the summer is the way to go. Pretty good main courses - oxtail and churrasco. Dessert and empanadas were decent but nothing like the main course. Service was attentive. Byob is a nice bonus.

As a world traveler, and a foodie. I have to say this place is memorable. That’s what I look for when I travel to a new place. Place is unique and special, along with great staff. We were welcomed and greeted by owner to see how we were doing. Something you don’t see anymore. His love for the people and this restaurant really shows. Came back the next day before our flight and just couldn’t have enough. Recommend: Maracuya drink, ribs, fried cheese, ropa vieja. I could go on forever. Cuban Pete’s offer an extensive menu of delicious Latin cuisine. It’s a fairly huge place and has both indoor & outdoor seatings. The place is clean, lively, and decorated with vibrant colors that gives you the feeling of an island flair. It’s a great place for gatherings or if you just want to hang out and enjoy a meal. They have choices of mixed virgin drinks, bring a bottle (BYOB) and you’re good to go. The staff are very attentive and friendly. I came here with my parents before a concert at the theater down the block. With how crowded the restaurant was, it's incredible we were seated right away and got our food as quickly as we did. Not only is the service phenomenal, but the food is great as well. I got the Cubano, which was sized reasonably for the price. The sandwich came with what I think we're homemade plantain chips. It's clear that the restaurant is popular, and with good reason. My only gripe was how loud it was, but that's only expected when a restaurant is crowded. There's a bunch of outdoor seating and a seemingly infinite amount of indoor seating to accommodate the popularity. Overall, I'd definitely come back next time I go to a concert in the area.

On Valentine’s Day February 14, 2021, me and the hubby decided to go. As soon as we got there it was a two hour wait, which we do not mind because the food is always good. We waited and went back inside a hour and 30 minutes later for the waiter to tell us she never wrote our name down when we first arrived. We still end up getting a table 20 minutes later. Me and Hubby ordered our food and a pitcher of Sangria. Our waiter was very polite but once we received our food it was very cold and my food was incorrect. My Hubby ordered boneless chicken breast with coconut rice and I ordered Churrasco with White rice and beans. My meat was cold and so hard plus the rice was hard also. I turned to look at my Hubby’s food and the chicken did not look cooked at all. He stated the food was terrible. He did not eat but 2 spoonfuls and got grossed out. I asked the waiter for the receipt, we paid and left. Very disappointed. This was the first time this ever happened to me at Cuban Pete’s. I won’t ever go back. This place is overrated‼️

Wow, this is some of the best Cuban food I’ve ever had. Oxtail is to die for and the Cuban style roast pork is outstanding. I highly recommend eating there and I will definitely go back.

Cuban Pete's - we enjoyed the outside seating. Mojitos didn't have alcohol in them, but we're tasty. Ceviche was good, but the plantain chips need to be bigger to scoop up the ceviche. Chicken lollipops was bland and needed the onion vinaigrette on it to make it a tad better. Shrimp dish was a disappointment. The fried fish was very good. We would come here again.

Super cool place to go to , decoration, the atmosphere, the staff everything it is so really cool and nice to be there. I had an amazing time just recently in December and I am looking forward to going in the summer. They do have a patio that resembles the patios In Cuban restaurants in Havana. They don't have alcohol but they do have these drinks made similar to the ones that you get with alcohol. The restaurant was clean. They have plenty of space to accommodate a lot of people in the restaurant. The parking can be a little tricky but nothing is impossible.

During the pandemic i would order food from them from uber eats, but seeing the news on how the owner said he needed to make money so he kept the indoor dining at full capacity makes me think they don't take precautions in the kitchen and makes me very hesitant to order from them, I'll order at another restaurant farther out and pay extra for the delivery for a business who doesn't pack in people like sardines during a pandemic.

Cuban Pete's is a great place to eat during this pandemic. There are lots of tables. There is no liquor, but there is a liquor store about a block away. You can bring your own bottle. I had churrasco with chimichurri. It came with white rice, black beans, and sweet plantains. I don't like sweet plantains so next time I go back I will ask to substitute for fried yuca. My friends and I ordered a pitcher of mango mojito. For dessert we had tres leches. This was an awesome way to celebrate my friend's birthday. It is winter, but I still enjoyed the atmosphere even though it is supposed to be a tropical setting. The music took me back to my childhood. It would be even better in the summer. The waiter was so professional and courteous. The bathroom had such interesting wallpaper. It consists of magazine clippings from the 1950's era. It had a ton of old advertisements like Clinton cigarettes, Palmolive dish soap, and Colgate toothpaste. Overall, this is a great place to eat, but it you like to drink don't forget your bottle before you come in. Two thumbs up.

The goat cheese fritters, that used to be fluffy and flavorful, were hard and definitely not fresh. Beans tasted like they were served straight from a can. The grilled chicken breast was way too thick and uncooked. There was a waiter that kept literally running very close to our table, which made us feel uncomfortable. Unfortunately, I'm not coming back and I will stick to Rincón Criollo in Queens, NYC.

I went to this place for dinner on a Friday. The place is located in Montclair, got a really good ambience. The food is really good. I likes the calamari. Also, they have good seafood options. I would recommend the seafood paella. They have both indoor and outdoor sitting and got street parking.

The desserts are wonderful, and the service is friendly. The menu has a lot of options. Food is solid - not the best Cuban I've had but certainly not bad. The yuca fries were chewy and the rice was a bit plain, but the steak was awesome (especially the sauce). The flan was phenomenal. The restaurant has a fun vibe!

Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was A+! We had a wheelchair user with us and they quickly accommodated us. They brought us ice water straight away which was so appreciated and we had a great experience overall. Also, the prices are so reasonable!

The tres leches is also delicious. It does get really busy and sometimes takes way longer to receive your food than anticipated so order way in advance. Parking can also be a pain.

I live in Philly, when I tell you this about to be my new favorite spot when I visit Jersey. The environment and food definitely give authentic Cuban. The staff is friendly and courteous. The service was quick and excellent. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are more than enough.

I have been eating there periodically after those years and I can say it has been satisfying but not outstanding. But in the last five months I have been there about 5 or 6 times with friends that I brought and specifically this last time, June 23 it was totally unsatisfying. The oxtail of my two girlfriends, one of them having her birthday that day, was tasteless, when I know it was always great. My garlic shrimps were drown in a read oily liquid and flavor was not great neither, fried casava was too dried, sweet plantains and tostones were great as always, and fried calamari was good too. But we ordered another appetizer that never arrived. Our first pitcher of sangria , the white one, the strawberries were fermented, but they changed for the red one and that was great as always. We were not provided with glasses and we had to go and get them from another table, food took forever to arrive and restaurant was not that full. Not trying to be mean, just don't let your quality to decline.
