Great museum. Walking through the submarine is fantastic. The self guided tour is great. Worth a stop!

Museum is top notch, but the sub tour (even just with the guided tablet) was the best boat tour I've done, even better than the USS Midway in San Diego. Hopefully, you'll bump into a few vets who are on board to share stories and background of the sub. Simply Wonderful!

Well curated museum, nice displays, and a lot of interactive items for kids. Definitely a niche subject. The submarine tour is really cool. They have modified the entrance so you can take a regular stairway in it instead of using a patch with a ladder.

My husband and I enjoyed the various displays and learned many new interesting facts from the state's history. We especially liked learning about the area's submarine building history. The building was very clean and easy to navigate. The museum gift shop also had many interesting items and souvenirs.

I was very fortunate to share a special overnight trip inside the USS Cobia with my son. The program was a lot of fun and very informative. Our museum guides did a great job providing an interactive experience for our scout pack by putting them through a mild training exercise. Sleeping overnight inside the submarine was quite a unique experience; one that my son will never forget. Overall we learned a lot about life inside a WWII sub and came away with a new appreciation for the life of a Navy seaman.

I learned much! Like, for example, sailing on the Great Lakes was almost all schooners, not square-sail, because they were so maneuverable. A bonus to me was their collection of steam engines.

I was truly surprised at the depth of information and how vast the displays. We had a nice young man who gave us the tour of the submarine. Must stop and tour if your in the area. Our time in the facility was @ 4 hours and could have easily been 6

The exhibits are fabulous, but it's difficult to locate all of them. The signs aren't where you expect them to be, and you can easily bypass entire exhibits! My favorite section was extremely difficult to find. When you are standing near the steam engine, look to the left for the sign pointing to "Lower Galleries" this is where you will find the wooden boat exhibit.

#usscobiaovernight Had a great time visiting the museum and spent the night sleeping in the USS Cobia submarine! Definitely worth the trip to learn more about WW2 submariners and the important role Manitowoc played in supporting our troops. Even in the middle of the winter, a great place to visit!

Loved the various displays and motors, etc, but the kicker was the USS Cobia, a WW2 Fleet Submarine. My mother and I had just had a discussion about the comforts of some of the equipment from WW2, lol. As you can see, comfort was not a factor for this generation.

Neat museum. The model ships were very cool and impressive. Submarine tour was great. Lots of equipment packed into every nook and cranny on that sub. Tour guide was very educated on the topic and equipment.

Amazing museum with a great staff who clearly love what they are doing. Both the building and the submarine are very enjoyable to go through with lots of history about the maritime history of both Manitowoc and Wisconsin. Definitely plan to visit again someday

I'm not a ship person, but the submarine tour is super cool. Sign up ahead of time (you can register online) and budget about an hour for the actual tour. As long as you're not claustrophobic, it's a super interesting look into WWII era subs: Manitowoc was a major producer of submarines (but not this one). I did the general tour, but there are longer and more specialized tours if you're super into subs. Also, you can rent the sub for sleepovers on Airbnb for about $500, which seems like it could be a cool thing to do with friends. Oh! And you can ring the bell!!

Love going on the Cobia and seeing all of the interesting exhibits. I come from a Navy family so this place speaks to my heart. It's neat to learn about subs and the men who man them. They are a special breed for sure! The guided tour was nice and you get some funny stories about the sailors. Definitely a must see if you are in the area.

There is a lot of knowledge here. The models and exhibits were very well done. My favorite part was being able to walk inside of a real submarine.

Thoroughly enjoyed the museum. We spent several hours enjoying the exhibits. I highly recommend the submarine guided tour. The guide Riley was very knowledgeable and did a great job answering questions. We went in a rainy day and it was perfect!!!

Very much worth our time, both the museum and the submarine tour. I just wish there had been more time.

I had an excellent time today viewing the new Bringing Shipwrecks to Life exhibit at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum. I enjoyed meeting the curator, Kevin Cullen, who is, himself, the real deal in underwater archeology, too. It was so nice to catch up with Cathy Green, the executive director, about museums, maritime music and Linda Anderson's tall ship photography. I will return soon to meet Becky Schott, the underwater photographer whose amazing images were featured in today's exhibit.

The festival was held outside. We didnt have enough time to go inside to check things out but we really enjoyed everything. From the great food to entertainment to just watching the water. Please visit small places like this. It's always worth it!

We had a great experience and highly recommend stopping by this museum! We took our 3 kids- 9,10,11 years old and they all had a good time. The submarine tour is a must- the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and kind. The museum has so much to look at and do. There's also a fun water feature room that all our kids enjoyed the most. I loved that there was a Disability Pride Month recognition on their TV and also Pride items for sale in the gift shop! Awesome to see!

Great tour guide. Learned a lot and was great to see kids learning about the sacrifices vets made to protect us during WWII

The water was beautiful and getting to see how big a submarine was incredible!! It was a super fun addition to my exploration of downtown manatowoc!! I definitely recommend it if museums and local history interest you! It's relatively cheap and if you have food stamps you can get tickets at a reduced rate!!

Great facilities with many, varied exhibits. Highlight was the tour of a sub! Very interesting, amazing seeing how many pieces of equipment, dials, levers, torpedoes, and guns were on this sub.

We were there on the christmas at the museum day. It was free admission, there were drinks and vendors and santa and all sorts of things. I thought it should have been much busier than it was. The cobia was awesome and the men on board telling stories were so wonderful.
