This is by far the best place if you like meat. I’ve seen this place looked at the menu a few times but for some reason we had never tried, the menu looked liked they only served raw meat poor advertising at least for me and my family, but ones we tried.. OMG soooo good!! I highly recommend this place.

Absolutely amazing restaurant in Gardena. Dont let the high prices scare you off! If you want to splurge you definitely can, but the spicy cold noodles and the kimchi pancakes are honestly good enough reasons to visit. This has become one of our go to spots in terms of food quality. Service is always fantastic, when we visited around new years they had small cake gifts for new visitors! The next time we visited, they overcooked the pancake, but one quick conversation later they served us new ones. High quality food and an engrossing atmosphere.

Wonderful. Modern design, open spaces, great flavour. The $60 meat set that serves 2-3 people was served on a wooden escalating platform with tags to indicate which meat is which. This is a Japanese BBQ, so if you're used to the typical Korean set up with sides be aware everything here is piecemeal, so particular sides are extra. However you can order interesting things like Japanese pancake (okonomiyaki).

This place is like the Rolls-Royce of Asian style BBQ like yakiniku or KBBQ. Very cozy and quaint location reminiscent of actual Japanese yakiniku restaurants so call ahead and make those reservations. There were only 2 wait staff when we went so there was a little lag in service however they were amazing and very accommodating. Since it was our first time coming here I opted for the American Wagyu set. Not the most expensive set but not the least. Also tried the sea urchin beef sushi and the seafood pancake (pajeon) People used to KBBQ may find this different since the grill is grated and more of an open flame so the meat cooks quickly. This is important since it's a very good quality of meat and the amount of fat makes a difference. That being said, we were on a food journey. The quality and feel of the meat changed with every cut. From the super fatty A5 Japanese Wagyu Ribeye to the Salted Tongue everything was amazing but had their own characteristics which made then unique. I'd also recommend the shiso rice with this meat it's a game changer. Tamaen isn't like those AYCE KBBQ spots so you won't necessarily get overly full, but the quality of meat is worth every penny. Can't wait to go again.

Decent Japanese BBQ place with high quality meat. Very clean and modern interior. Friendly servers. Corkage fee is $15 if you’re into pairing wine with your beef. They have a very limited wine selection, so this helps.

Truly excellent yakiniku in the heart of Gardena. Legit A5 wagyu, American wagyu, dinner sets they even have oxtail soup, egg soup, great service, perfect seasoning. It costs a grip but it really is worth it. Authentic Japanese Yakiniku. You need to come here.

Called in to order the Tamaen assorted set (60$) for takeout about 3 hours before the pickup. Went to revive about 2 mins before pickup time and they had things ready. Smooth process, friendly nice dude. Meat was very good. Would go there again.

It’s a small place but comfortable. ♿️ friendly. Reservations are recommended. Service was quick and kind. Food was delicious. I loved the Limited Short Rib because the meat almost melted in my mouth. The lunch set was enough amount for me.

fantastic spot. I truly don't know how they can offer a A5 Ribeye for that cheap when 1lb sells at $250. Very nice staff, glad I made the visit

Their delightful bento boxes have been a silver lining of the covid era. They've been creative trying all sorts of things and it can be a little hard trying to figure out what they currently have (website, IG and Yelp are not always up to date). I have appreciated the various bargain priced curry bowls, boxes of all different kinds of high quality meat at all price ranges, cheap beer, even the pancake was great. We've tried all the fried chicken, I especially enjoy the cartilage. The groceries they carried for a while was really useful with super high quality eggs for the price. They also have a butcher shop website that looks nice. Of course I hope they do well and can go back to their normal business, but it might ironically be less in my price range then to go as often!

Friendly staff, beautifully prepared cuts of beef. Plus they offer A5 japanese Wagyu!!! For the serious "Foodie" try the beef sushi!
