This church publishes The Christian Science Monitor newspaper. The religion was established by Mary Baker Eddy. There is more than meets the eye here at the Mother Church that is not tied to the church.. The Mapparium is an enormous stained glass rendering of our planet that you can walk through on a suspended walkway. Be careful of what you say inside it. Even whispers can be heard by everyone else inside the globe. In the Mother Church itself is an overwhelming pipe organ. There are 235 ranks of pipes, for a total of 13,189 individual pipes! The Aeolian Skinner instrument has to be among the largest in the country. The organ itself dwarfs the console where the organist sits to play. The largest of the pipes appears to be as tall as a three story house. The reflecting pool in front of the church is a well-known landmark, and is worthy of a serious look.

The First Church of Christ is a beautiful building with unwelcoming, combative staff. My friends and I felt policed by "Barb," who treated us like we were shoplifting. It was a weird, uncomfortable atmosphere and unfortunately we decided to leave rather then engage in whatever is going on there. I would recommend some diversity training if management is concerned with the microaggressions staff imposes on guests. I would think that Christians would strive to be inclusive and friendly, but I guess not.

We parked at the Christian Science Plaza underground parking garage to attend a Boston Pops Friday afternoon holiday concert at Symphony Hall in Boston. We saw a sign announcing free daily tours of the Mother Church (of the First Church of Christ, Scientist). The guided tours begin on the hour and half-hour and last about 20 minutes. We had plenty of time before the concert, so we decided to join the next tour of the Mother Church. We were very glad we did. The architecture, the interior, and the history of the founding of this institution were fascinating. Don't miss a tour if you are in the area.

Hugely impressive, monumental. I liked the neo-classical domed church adjacent to the annex that is like a medieval castle and the shallow long reflecting pool outside adjacent to a tree lined walking path. The Mapparium with the amazing lobby, spherical glass globe mapped from 1935, along with Mary Eddy Baker's teachings is worth a visit. The organization is affiliated to the Christian Science Monitor, a world renowned news and information agency

If you're visiting Boston, I highly recommend taking a tour of this church as it is gorgeous. They are currently working on it as I write this review, but once it is finished in 2018, it is a must see! The ceilings are beautiful and it houses one of the largest pipe organs in the world!

Besides the church, which is quite beautiful, be sure to visit The Mary Baker Eddy Library for the Betterment of Humanity, which includes exhibits about the founding of the Christian Science Church, and the prize-winningChristian Science Monitor.

I highly recommend a visit of the Christian Science Church campus. Their Mapparium tour is cheap and interesting way to spent 30 minutes. I didn't really know what it was until we went inside the giant glass globe. They also offer free tours of the church. The main church is absolutely beautiful. I believe they tune the organ about every 2 weeks. If you're in town, drop by to hear it play. Lastly, the CS staff was great! A big thanks to Bill who gave us the tour.

Amazing tour guides. This church is an architectural marvel with the biggest pipe organ I've ever seen-top 10 biggest in the world. If you ask nicely, the tour guide will ask the organist on site to come and play a short song so you can witness how grand the sound is.
