I'm giving BWI USO 5 STARS. Approximately 200 of us got in around 2230hrs. Flying in from the Middle East and Germany. Once we clear customs and get our bags, we find ourselves with an airport that is pretty much closed. Nonthing open, including the ticket counters of the airlines. What is open is the BWI USO. What a sight to see, not only for having a place to secure our bags, but giving everyone from the single returning members of the armed forces to those military families traveling together a place to rest, eat and relax in a safe environment. It's a great feeling knowing you can fall asleep and not worry about your bags being or belongings being stolen or gone through. They also have luggage carts to use at no charge. You have to leave your ID and Rtn the cart to get your ID back. To the BWI USO Staff, You are the Hero's. Thank you. Have a Safe and Happy New Year. Great tasting, Chilli. Also, the time of this posting, they are open all night on Tue into Wed, and Thur into Fri.

The first time ever that we've not felt welcome at a USO. The volunteer greeter said that they normally do not allow retirees when it's busy. The facility was nowhere close to being crowded as the picture shows.

The USO is a wonderful place to volunteer. If you are an active duty military member or dependent, it is a nice, friendly place to go to relax and grab some food and drink.

First day through great! Everyone was super nice and helpful. Second time through I went in and had an energy drink and left to go fix my flight and the man follows me out to the elevator and stared and was like do You need food… I apparently look homeless when I travel. Homeless with a CAC?

In reply to the review by Raphael Zdanis: "I am a Marine Veteran and I visited the USO yesterday with a non-military buddy of mine to grab a quick snack after our very long flight. I have been to the USO many times before with my parents, who are not Military, although yesterday I was told by the lady at the front desk that he was not allowed in. She was very very rude, so much so that I myself did not want to be there. It was not very welcoming, so I walked right out. What a way to treat a veteran. I will NEVER go to this USO again." Dear Raphael, if the VOLUNTEER staff member was rude to you, I expect it was because you rudely demanded access to which neither you or your friend were entitled. What part of the USO charter did you not read? "Are United States Veterans allowed access to the lounge? The USO is a congressionally chartered nonprofit organization; we are not a part of the federal government. Our admissions policy is driven by our congressional mandate to support the American Armed Forces - SPECIFICALLY, U.S. ACTIVE, RESERVE, AND GUARD SERVICE MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES. While we respect all of those who have served our nation, we are a military service organization, not a veterans service organization." If you're not a military ID card-carrying military retiree, and you've been granted access solely because of your status as a veteran, count yourself lucky and be grateful because the VOLUNTEER staff were doing you a favor. Period. Full stop. You had your turn as an active duty Marine. It's now the turn for other AD Service Members. If you want guaranteed access, you can always return to active duty or join the reserves. And even then, friends are not authorized entry. Family members only, and then only when accompanied by the Service Member, unless the family member has an AD military dependent ID card entitling him or her entry with or without the sponsor. Otherwise, demand that Congress fund the USO to provide services to non-retiree veterans. Good luck with that. So, the long and short of it is, you've been getting a free ride that you're not entitled to, relying on funding provided for service to AD Service Members only. The USO isn't funded for non-retiree veterans, so you've been taking advantage of the good will of the VOLUNTEER staff. I'll bet you never ponied up a donation to put into the donation jar. Even retirees are granted access only on a space-available basis at the discretion of the staff. BTW, I'm an Army Retiree and USO volunteer myself and you would have been turned away at my location too, Lose the attitude, pal. This applies to all non-retiree veterans, regardless of disability status, who complain that they were denied entry to this or any other USO. You're denied entry because you're not entitled entry. Imagine how full the USO lounges would be if all veterans were allowed entry. It's untenable. We serve a clearly-defined component of the military community and if you're not a member of that component, don't complain to us or about us. As volunteers, we do the best we can within the limits of our charter and the resources provided to us.

This USO is amazing. Arrived from Germany and when we finally got our bags, the airport was pretty much closed, but the USO was open. The volunteers are kind, there was coffee and food, and I was able to take a nap until my flight the next day.

If you rent a luggage cart you can’t keep it here at the uso. You have to unload it and leave it outside. If you want a cart you can “rent” one from them and leave you DL, check your bags and return the cart. This sounds great unless you are flying southwest Which is on the opposite side of the airport. They let me temporarily keep my cart there to go grab something from there snack options. They have all of their options on a whiteboard to choose from, however the items that I asked for they did not have in stock. Not to sound ungrateful for the space, wi-Fi and accommodations, it just did not feel welcoming or kept like other USOs around the country.

No veterans of any kind, including disabled, allowed in?? Even when its practically empty?? Disgraceful. Unbelievable. Shame on all of you for allowing that. You are a joke, and you don't even deserve one star.

Very spacious with a separate infant room. A full snack bar with hot and cold options. I always feel comfortable at any USO's.

I’ve always loved the Volunteers of the USO. First stopped here after returning from Afghanistan in 2003. 21 years later and retired, same friendly and helpful Volunteers. plenty of services, WIFI, comfortable seats, food…you name it. If you’re a Vet or Active Duty, come on in… and please leave a donation.

Well stocked facility with plenty of food, drinks, and personal hygiene products. This large USO has a large baggage area, television viewing lounge, business center, dining area, child care/family center, and the dedicated sleep room/bunk facility. Ed and all the volunteers were very welcoming and understandably proud of their USO. Swing by, grab some chow, catch a nap, and head out to your final destination refreshed!

Newly wed and we all know how difficult it is getting an id. Would not let my spouse in. Even when we offered to show marriage license. First time in my 11 year career this has happened when a family member was not allowed in.

If i could give 0 stars i would. I was refused access to the USO due to my pet that i have full vaccination records of, and a pet carrier for. I was confined to a seat next to the door after signing all or the paperwork for a pet to access the “lounge” area. I wasn’t able to leave my pet unattended to use any accommodations. The amount of disrespect for military members coming home from a deployment on a 6 hour layover is appalling. Do better USO BWI.

Great service, very resourceful. If they are not open overnight, they have a great list of nearby hotels and their services.

Amazing Resource for Active Military members with long layovers - baggage storage and sleep rooms from 6am - 9:45pm. Felt welcomed and was given clear directions and a place to nap during given hours. Lose a star because of the lack of overnight capability, military members who don’t feel like getting a hotel for whatever reason off airport grounds will be forced to sleep in airport lobby, or a small locked room upstairs, called the meditation room. Some groups were ultra worried about missing their international flights and did this.

No pets allowed … Even in carriers. They tell you to leave a part of the family outside or to “Go sit on a bench.” They act as if no families or service members PCS with pets. Very sad.

  • 5/5 Corey L. 1 year ago on Google
Extremely friendly. Was deploying on the rotator and they have a bag storage area which made the 12 HR lay over doable. The USO is one of the nicer ones I have been to. Realize this location has the rotator so it can become busy, so come early. Other reviews about not allowing pets and what not is because it gets crowded! Every thing was clean and well organized.

  • 5/5 William M. 7 months ago on Google • 2 reviews
We had a packed rotator which was delayed repeatedly land very late at night and most of us had early flights out. The volunteers kept the USO open after hours so we had a place to relax and freshen up when nothing else was open. Thank you very much!
