Not an authentic Japanese restaurant. Overall just about the average. Agedashi tofu - Terrible. Agedashi tofu should use silk/soft tofu, cut in cubes, soaked in bonito broth, and topped with radish paste. This one was not even close to what it's supposed to be. Tempura - Vegetables were okay. The shrimp was not very fresh, and I expected the texture more crispy. Otoro (tuna belly) - The fish was good, quite fatty and smooth. It would be better without the topping, which messed up the flavor of the fish. I would recommend putting a bit wasabi in-between the fish and rice, not in the topping sauce... Sake toro (salmon belly) - Like the texture of otoro but fattier and thicker. I was looking forward to the 'melting' feeling but not quite there yet. Still a fairly good one. Signature nigiri - It was okay. Fish were decent but the topping remained a minus.

A very unique and exceptional experience with amakasa style dining. We were offered a wide variety of sushi prepared in traditional and modern methods. The service was very friendly and patient as they explained each dish to our table. Our meal was paired with a chilled sake and a grand selection of desserts

Ordered what looked like great sushi online, only to receive what I can hope was the wrong order which was smashed and cold (for tempura roll)! AVOID THIS PLACE! Tasted old and sad...

A very nice restaurant with good food. I enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and the service was good. I had tge spicy edamame and a couple of sushi specialty rolls.

Found this gem on way back to San Antonio from Westlake event after a Google search. Extensive menu. We had a very friendly and knowledgeable waiter Jeremiah who was very attentive without being overbearing. We had the dishes pictured -- in order -- Brussels sprouts , tako salad, firecracker sushi roll, chirashi. I am a fiend for Brussels sprouts and will order them whenever I can find them. They were roasted / fried in a sweet spicy chili sauce that was great. Roll came out really fast -- spicy and fresh. Salad and bowl had very fresh ingredients that were all delicious especially the tuna. A bit pricey but somewhat to be expected given seafood in central Texas and inflation. Still will be back next time in Austin.

I was really hoping to enjoy this restaurant as it had quite a few decent reviews. I did order take out. When I called in, the lady was very nice and I told her I could not eat wasabi so please do not put it on any of my dishes. After picking up my food, I realized there was Wasabi between every piece of fish and rice of the nigiri I ordered. I called back in and asked if there was anything that could be done as I just paid over $30 for food I could not eat. She said only for me to drive back up there and have them remake it which I explained I did not have enough time. I then asked if there was a way for them to refund just the cost of the nigiri I ordered. She said her manager said absolutely not. I would not recommend this place just due to their service. And the fact that it almost seemed intentional. Who puts wasabi between rice and fish for nigiri? Update after response from owner- I did ask for NO Wasabi before ordering. I actually said multiple times when ordering that I could not have wasabi.

A very sub par experience. My friends and I weren’t really impressed with the food or the service. The sushi was okay. The rolls were okay. The tofu appetizer I got was disappointing. I thought it would be a bit crispier and the sauce that came along with it was very bland. Not to mention, shortly afterwards, my stomach was not happy and I’ll just leave it at that.

I've loved this place ever since we came here for a friend's graduation dinner. I always get the perfection roll (the salad adds a wonderful, fresh crispness to the roll) and the baked dynamite (very filling - it's comfort food sushi). The stuffed mushrooms are also really good and really, really stuffed so they tend to fall apart but it's fine, eat it in 2 parts. My boyfriend loves their sashimi, especially the tuna. Ask about the wasabi relish if you're getting a few types of fish. Michael has been our waiter quite a few times and he's great! This place is open later than other restaurants. The food and service have always been wonderful, highly recommend!

First time trying it and we were very pleased with our food. We arrived right when they opened so it wasn’t so crowded. The sushi tasted amazing and fresh! To us it was more Americanized sushi than actual sushi, but it’s still really good. Portions are big we actually had to take some home with us and the pricing is fair for the amount you get. The staff is so friendly! Definitely ask for Michel.

My son wanted to give Japanese cuisine a try for his birthday. So, after a quick search on OpenTable, we selected Ebisu. What a wonderful experience!! The atmosphere is amazing, the food was incredible, and the waitstaff were attentive without being obtrusive. We had a great time and look forward to our next visit.

Dark and cozy atmosphere with a full sushi and drink bar. The sushi was beautifully prepared however, the beef teriyaki was overcooked, tough and chewy. The greeting was warm and the wait staff were friendly.

Some of the best sushi I have had in Austin. The lunch special I had was almost more than I could eat. The rolls are huge and the servers are just simply fantastic. Highly recommended and I will be back again

This is a cool place for sushi and Japanese dishes. We liked the spicy edamame and nigiri pieces. Our server was helpful with questions I had when choosing my meal and her recommendation was spot on. Their happy hour prices are an added bonus.

Husband and I love it here! We always make reservations online because you best believe there is a wait without one. The food is very much worth it, though! We will continue to recommend Ebisu to anyone who enjoys sushi!

Definitely not the best sushi place in Austin, but it's quite good. Nothing to complain about at all. The fish is fresh and the flavors are what you'd expect. I've been coming for years. The service is usually good. The men behind the sushi bar are always smiley and helpful. Tonight I got a rainbow roll and asked for real crab meat, I wasn't put off by the upcharge for the upgrade. And I really loved the serving platter. It's a good night out, I can't imagine anyone being disappointed that they went.

We walked in and we were greeted by a super friendly lady. I made reservations, so we were seated right away. Our waiter was on top of everything and we have nothing to complain. The whole staff was amazing, the food delicious and I'm sure we will be back!

Great sushi in a classy space! The sushi here is a little on the pricey side, but my wife and I shared one of the lunch specials and left satisfied. We spent under $30 including tip and got two great rolls (the sunshine and the Fire Cracker) and miso. If you like to really stuff yourself it could easily get expensive, though. The only downside was cleanliness at the table. The table we were seated at hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly, and the cloth napkins were very linty. But we liked this place overall.

Best sushi I’ve ever had. Really reasonably priced as well. We came in on a whim on a Friday evening while visiting Austin and they were able to get us seated. Will absolutely be back when I’m back in Austin for work
