My mom and Grandmother both had their funeral here. I was only a part of the planning for my mom's funeral. From preplanning because we knew the odds were against her to when she passed they were so respectful and sensitive to our grief. Ira and Don were so helpful and explained as we went. I'd always feared that when this time come that people would try to make it as expensive as possible. They were both helpful in making sure we could have a beautiful funeral while not inflating cost and showing where we could save. Ty so much for helping us during this time. IRA! You are amazing for me and my dad. All I need to say is 25 mins and I hope you realize who I am.

This is a follow-up to the above mentioned review (11-21-22). I am still impressed and happy with our choice for my father. One year after his passing we received a HAND WRITTEN card that let us know they really cared. Thanks so much for your thoughtful services. Where do I begin? For this being one of the saddest times of my life by losing my father, Johns Rideout's Mortuary made planning and preparation seamless and pleasant. The entire team offered stellar service, pristine professionalism, and paid intricate attention to detail. I've never been more impressed. We had the pleasure of working primarily with Ira Lucas. There was no pressure to purchase services we didn't need and he was incredibly patient. Each decision we made was our decision and we were not swayed. My parents had everything prearranged according to their wishes. We felt zero pressure to upgrade or add additional services. The staff were courteous and helpful giving information about what we should expect in the future and things we needed to deal with and timeline issues. Everything was handled with no additional stress at a time when emotions were high and family was already stressed. I really appreciate the thoughtfulness direction and empathy shown to our family during this very difficult time.

Lynn Cleghorn was our funeral director for my mom’s funeral. She was so compassionate and thoughtful as she helped our family navigate through our grief as we made all of our arrangements. She went the extra mile in helping family who were out of town to participate in the funeral service via a zoom session. She had great attention to detail and the funeral and graveside services were lovely. We will always be grateful to Lynn for her kindness during that difficult time in our lives. The Rideouts Elwood Chapel is blessed to have her as part of their staff. It was very obvious to us that this was not just a job to Lynn, it is a ministry to those in grief.

My family has used Elmwood for many years for their outstanding services, but it wasn’t until recently I had to use them for myself. Lynn, Jeff, Sharon, Chuck, Missy and staff treated me like family and helped me navigate through this difficult time in my life losing my daughter. They comforted me and treated me with the utmost respect and kindness. Everything was great; pickup of body within 2 hours of notification, no pressure to purchase additional services (we had a insurance policy that covered most of the funeral expense), everyone was understanding, and communications was outstanding.

John Ridouts Elmwood are very caring .They treat you like family. They did a wonderful job handling my momas funeral. I would recommend them and i would use them should I need their services.

Just wanted to give Ms Lynn a 10 🌟 star review for all the help and making my mom's funeral process easier to navigate. I truly do not have enough good things to say about Ms Lynn. Would highly recommend her for any future funeral plans. My moms service was everything that she would have wanted, I don't have enough good things to say about Elmwood and Rideout.

Losing my Mother and my husband within sixteen months has been very difficult, but working with Lynn Cleghorn in both instances was a blessing. My family Has owned property at Elmwood, Since the early 1900s. I have attended Grandparents, Aunts, cousins And have preached my nana's father's father's and now mother's burial at Elmwood cemetery. I was so blessed to be able to meet Lynn cleghorn, She was completely amazing she took all the pressure off allowed me to do what I wanted to do for my mother. She worked with me guided me , She even found her policy just really took the load of the world off my shoulders and made it so much easier for me to concentrate on what I needed to concentrate on. Lynn and the entire staff were wonderful in helping our family through the painful burial of our beloved Mother. Because of many issues pulling the burial coverages thru multiple carriers would have been a difficult task but they handled it all in a timely manner. My experience with Johns-Ridout's Mortuary at Elmwood cemetery was overall an excellent experience. I had some issues with insurance when burying my mother and the staff did everything that they could to help me resolve it as quickly as possible so that I could lay my mother to rest and to make it as easy as she could possibly could for the family. She helped in decision making, planning everything and even when above and beyond and stepped in as a pallbearer on the day of my mother's service.
