    I’ve been going to Iron Orr Fitness close to 2 months and I love it! I have had the honor to train with Tess for the past 2 months and she is amazing. She is approachable, funny, and knowledgeable. I have achieved amazing results while training with her. I lost 3lbs while training with her and I don’t plan to stop because it has been an amazing journey with her. She is very thorough with the workouts she plans for me in and outside the gym. I am glad I was paired with her as a trainer. It is great to know that I have a supporter and coach in Tess who challenges me at each session to succeed in my fitness goals. YOU ROCK TESS! :)

    Abby is the best trainer I have ever met. I hurt my back and knee a few years ago. I had no idea how should I protect myself or what I should do in a gym until I met my trainer Abby. My workouts are well-planned based on my goals. Abby asks about my feedback in each session and adjusts the strength, movements, and even background music! I am always motivated, and every session is the right amount of challenge and so much fun! Abby pays great attention to my form and explained every movement in detail - the goals, targeted muscles, and mistakes to avoid. Her suggestions are always easy to understand, and easy to follow. With Abby's help, I lost weight and gain muscles. What's more important, I established confidence, the correct form of movements, and know how to protect myself in future workouts. If you are thinking about personal training with Iron Orr, choose Abby! And the gym is also very well maintained and very clean!

    I started going to this gym often recently to try for a better lifestyle change and it's definitely been one of the best places I've been to. All the trainers are active, friendly and ready to help if approached; Justin in particular was a really big help in helping me find my earbuds that I left there. Even though the space itself is relatively small, they definitely maximize what they have, with multiple of each machine and benches to help you work out whatever you need to without having to wait for too long. Would definitely recommend checking this place out, and even going that extra step to get a consultation with any of the friendly trainers there!

    Joining Iron Orr was one of the best decisions I had taken in 2021. I trained with Alisha as my personal trainer for 9 months and I couldn’t be any happier. Alisha is an incredible trainer who is fun to work with, motivates you to reach your goals and genuinely cares about your progress. Moreover, she was very kind and easy to talk freely with. So, going to the gym was never a chore for me and I was always excited to train with Alisha as it was fun and challenging at the same time. The gym itself is well equipped and the other trainers/ staff were kind and were always happy to help. If anyone is looking for an awesome personal trainer, I strongly recommend Alisha.

    I started working out with John Callaghan almost a year ago. Now +100 sessions later I can honestly say starting to go to Iron Orr and having met John has been one of my best decisions in the past couple years. John is very analytical with impressive knowledge in sports, anatomy, metabolism and much more. With his help we have modified and perfected my food intake, workout, overall activity level, sleep, water intake and much more. My appreciation to what John has done for me can not be put into words. In terms of being a personal trainer he is on a different scale of expertise. On top of all of this, I think of John as a friend, and sometime a great advisor on life topics. To be honest if I don't go in for a week, I begin to miss both the workout and spending time with John. Thanks Iron Orr for bringing in such a talent from overseas! I'm in for the long ride with John directing it.

    I've had the pleasure of working directly with Justin Orr (The owner of Iron Orr) for over a year now. Justin has consistently gone above and beyond to work around my schedule and needs. Most of us have been through a gym and seen the pictures of client accolades highlighting pounds lost or muscle gained, but in reality training with an expert in physical health is so much more than that. In working with Justin, I have reduced pain in my back as well as helped build stability and strength in my knees. You can tell a lot about the values of a business by the values of it's owner, and Justin and his teams' commitment to improving the health of their clients is second to none.

    Brett's a rare find as a trainer - he listens, has no ego, and makes you feel like a rockstar even when you're gassed from the volume workout he just made you do. I've received great feedback to correct my form in our workouts and he's great at keeping me motivated through our sessions. The attention I've received has been stellar and Brett's knowledge and experience of training is impressive, so I know I'm in good hands. In the past my biggest issue was going to the gym consistently, but training with Brett has been a breath of fresh air and has made something I normally dread into something I look forward in my day. If you want to feel like you're getting movie star attention - ask for Brett.

    Friendly staff, fair but demanding personal trainers, clean area and an outside part to train. Lockers are a bit tricky, still don't manage to get them to work but I never felt like something would get stolen. Good mixture of cardio equipment, free weights and machines. Can personally recommend Chelsea or Matt as trainers, you'll hate them during the sessions but somehow you'll still be looking forward to the next one.

    In the past couple of months, I had the pleasure of working with Brett Wheeless in training me for the PFT in law enforcement. Brett has been focused on making sure I accomplish my fitness goals, being accessible outside of our work out sessions and giving me helpful nutrition advice to maximize my workouts. His extensive knowledge in the area has helped not only in becoming more fit but also in understanding the discipline necessary for my career path. His uplifting and optimistic attitude, along with his insightful style of training has kept me motivated inside and outside the gym, helping me get the best grades in university. I'm gladly looking forward to the next several months of training with him!

    Glad I decided to check out Iron Orr Fitness. It's a great facility, friendly staff, clean and great trainers. I have been working with Brett, probably the best trainer I've worked with this far. He definitely pushes you to perform at your best without overstepping. He pays attention to your form, making sure you are training without hurting yourself. At the end of each session, I am completely wiped and never leave without feeling like it was an excellent session. I highly recommend checking this place out and working with Brett. He's great to train with, fun conversations and responsive to any questions/concerns you may have.

    I joined Iron Orr about a month ago and I’m so glad I did. The facility is great and the staff are super friendly. I have been working with Veronica and she has been amazing in helping me get closer to achieving my fitness goals. She pushes me all whilst listening to how I feel and she closely watches my form to make sure I’m not injuring myself. She is also super personable and takes the time to send me nutritional advice and tips! I am starting to feel so much more confident in myself and it’s thanks to Veronica! I am so glad I was paired with her, she is an incredible trainer and she really cares about her clients and their fitness goals! Thank you Veronica!!

    Things have been going great so far training with Veronica for a little over a month. I came in with the goal of improving my base fitness to benefit my rock climbing, and I am glad to say it is already starting to pay off! Veronica has been great at finding and improving my weaknesses while consistently making sure that we aren't taking things too far to prevent injury. On top of that, she has a great personality and is fun to work with. Looking forward to the future gains!

    Iron Orr Fitness in San Diego is an amazing atmosphere! Great atmosphere and very knowledgeable and passionate staff from those who market to those who train. Oscar Perez is a very passionate guy and very young and motivated! He knows what’s he talking about and is real with you and cares about his clients! I suggest everyone to go to him! Can’t wait to come and see all the other staff members and get to know them!

    Even with a 5 star rating, it doesn’t do this staff justice. I started by working Oscar to find the best personal training then was able to work with the best trainer for me. Customer is definitely the focus at this gym.

    I consulted with the Justin the owner of the Iron Orr. He is great! He does not make any fake promise and the details mentioned by him that you can tell he spends a lot of time to build the whole plan for your different goals. I plan to build up muscle and loss weight at the end of year. The consult with Justin make me feel confident that they can help me do that from nutrition to training. And they actually do that. I have done couple of times of training and I think it is a good time to review. All the trainers have their own style but they follow your plan that makes at the beginning. Justin is wonderful and he is a real expert. Jay is knowledgable and very considerable. Taii likes to push me to the limit and it will always be a great challenging. They also track your nutrition quite carefully. And notice you whenever you do not complete your nutrition goal. Overall, I think Iron Orr is a good choice for you to accomplish your goal!

    I first heard of this facility through yelp and as it is ranked as one of the best personal trainers in San Diego, I decided to book for a consultation and immediately started training with Brett. Me and boyfriend signed up for the partner sessions but due to our availability our number one concern was trainer flexibility. That being said, Brett has been great and remained flexible regarding scheduling despite of his own busy schedule. In regards to training, it gets very tough especially if you’re a novice in working out but Brett always takes his time to educate on proper posture/technique and takes his time to explain why/how specific exercises can and will help with achieving your personal goals. On top of that Brett is very motivating pushing you through every training session. He also goes out of his way and texts you personalized meal plans, training plans, and even training session reminders. Initially, my boyfriend and I only signed up for 10 sessions but seeing as to how good Brett’s training plan is, we decided to sign up for personal training in this facility for 12 more months. This facility definitely does not disappoint!

    I completed 12 personal training sessions with JJ at Iron Orr Fitness and had an incredible experience. All of the staff/trainers are friendly and welcoming and the facility has everything you need and more. Having the option of workout outdoors is great! I am not new to fitness but JJ pushed me to the next level and I found myself completing workouts that I would have previously passed off as "too hard". I would definitely recommend JJ and Iron Orr Fitness.

    Iron Orr has been absolutely amazing for our family. My husband, daughter, and I have been going and we love our workouts. The trainers really listen to your goals and individualize the workouts to your needs. It’s truly a great environment where we all feel really encouraged and motivated.

    I made a decision to get in shape at age 67. Crazy, but yeah, true. I searched for a personal trainer and talked with Justin, the owner of Iron Orr. Justin is the most thoughtful, considerate, and skilled training CEO I have ever met. He understood the needs and desires I had at age 67. He listened and encouraged. I have been working out now for 2 months and am in the best shape of my life. I am not kidding. I am down to 17% body fat, and have increased lean muscle mass substantially. They tailored made a program to focus on non-injury, but high impact routines. The trainers are so professional, patient, yet motivating and accountable. This has been one of the greatest experiences of my life, and I would recommend Iron Orr to anyone of any age with a dream to transform their body and their minds. If I can do this at age 67 (actually just turned 68), anyone with the drive and a dream to do this can. Give yourself a gift for 2024. Iron Orr has changed my life.

    Our trainer Adrian is fantastic! My wife and I have been training with him for about 2 months and every time we look forward to our training sessions. Each one of them is challenging and fun, Adrian pays a lot of attention to our form and clearly cares about our health and development. He is a great motivator and always willing to help. He introduced us to a variety of new exercises: his landmine routines are the best! We could not have asked for a better trainer and I am sure we will achieve our goals with him. The atmosphere at the gym is great and all the trainers are very nice and helpful! The HIT classes with Marcel are a lot of fun!

    I had always been a bit intimidated by gym equipment; I mainly stuck to group classes and cardio machines to lose weight. Until I finally decided to start working with a personal trainer. Abby at Iron Orr Fitness was able to simplify the process of learning how to properly use machinery and learning how to target different muscle groups. Her workouts are personalized and she is thorough in explaining each movement. Not to mention, her keen eye for detail. It is very obvious that Abby cares about seeing your progress and will keep you accountable to your goals. She is committed to making sure that you see and feel your desired results. I cannot express how grateful I am for having met Abby. If you are thinking about personal training with Iron Orr. Do it! It is a decision you will NOT regret!

    I want to give a massive thank you to John Callaghan for being my trainer the past 8 months. John is an expert level trainer and I would recommend him for anyone, he's great for beginners who lack the fundamentals, or for people like myself who know a lot but need help getting back into it or taking it to the next level. He knows it all from a deep understanding of nutritional knowledge to helping me train specifically in the gym to build strength and decrease body fat. When I first came to him I had totally gotten out of my health and fitness routine, gained a lot of weight, and had no consistency. John set a plan in place with me, tracked my macros, and even scheduled workouts for me to do when outside of the gym. He held me accountable without being pushy or too aggressive! This is by far the best investment I have made in my health. I will be back to train with him again in the future!!

    I am not a big fan of gyms because sometimes it's boring, and I came to Iron Orr Fitness for boxing classes in the summertime. And this is so cool and interesting, so I continue going and do not plan to stop. My trainer is Gerardo, we hit it off really fast. He is taking care of me, my nutrition plan, and our program. I couldn't imagine a better boxing trainer, everything is so clear and exciting, I have been making impressive results with a technique, and my body is now ready for summer first year in my life, finally ahaha. I also want to mention that Justin (the fitness owner) is very kind and caretaking. The atmosphere in Iron Orr Fitness is so warm, and the attitude is so individual. So I realised that going to gym is not boring if you go to the right place. I recommend Iron Orr Fitness with all my heart.

    My personal trainer at Iron Orr fitness was John Callaghan and he was amazing! John was genuinely invested in supporting me through my physical fitness journey without the slightest form of judgment. He helped me understand how my body worked and what factors affected our fat/muscle ratio. He also helped me plan out my daily meals and track my calorie intake and even provided science-backed suggestions to help me with my sleep. He was extremely patient with me while still holding me accountable and allowed me to get the best workout I possibly could in every session. I was able to safely learn work out techniques I have never tried before. John also took the time to make every session interesting and really helped me stay motivated. Moreover, he was very easy to talk to and I always looked forward to our sessions. Over time, my confidence grew and I became much healthier both physically and mentally. I highly recommend John as a personal trainer. Anyone can show you how to work out but John takes personal training to the next level. He has an impressive depth of knowledge about physical fitness and nutrition and an impressive ability to teach his knowledge and skills to people, tailoring each class to their specific needs at any given time. Before I left, John helped me plan out a workout regimen I can easily follow to maintain my physical fitness. My experience from the start to the end has been outstanding - thank you John and Iron Orr fitness!

    I recently started training with Jay Silva at Iron Orr fitness. The gym where the training occurs is a nice facility- spacious, clean, and contains an excellent range of exercise equipment. Only complaint about the facility is the lack of a true changing room/locker room. The staff of Iron Orr fitness are all friendly and professional. For this review, however, I want to focus on the excellence of my trainer, Jay Silva. He is the best trainer I’ve ever had. He is knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. He truly listens to what I have to say about my goals and expectations. More importantly, he has been completely engaged during our entire sessions. He constantly assesses my form during the exercises to minimize any potential injuries. His attitude is perfect- he challenges me but not to a level where I feel too sore or exhausted the next day. He is always encouraging, and I always look forward to our next sessions without ambivalence or dread. Without reservation, I highly recommend Jay for anyone looking for an ideal trainer.

    Recently signed up in January with their personal trainers. I got off to slow start because there was a revolving door of personal trainers leaving but then I was assigned Jay Silva. Jay has military background and focuses on strength training. I felt weak and slow for the first week. But eventually got felt stronger after each session and I was confident to lift heavier to see how far I can go. I am proud to say so far I lost 4lbs and broke a record of deadlifting. If you sign up for this gym please ask for Jay to be your personal trainer. Jay I wished I had met you in January, I know I would have lost 15lbs in 3 months.

I don’t get any personally training, but my interactions and conversations with the trainers and gym owner have always been super friendly and welcoming. Iron Orr is a great gym that accommodates all workout types (lifting, cardio, weekly yoga classes, etc). The environment and friends I’ve made here has really motivated me to reach my goals :’))

    If you are looking for the best personal trainers San Diego has to offer then look no further. Gotta leave a review in support of my personal trainer Brett. Dude is a super personable and knowledgeable trainer. He will push you like no other and genuinely wants to get you to your fitness goals. He focuses on form/technique and is always super motivated. He goes out of his way to work with your schedule and is always available if you have questions or need recommendations outside of your sessions. The facility is great but the trainers are what set this place in another league from others. In short, if you put the effort and time the Iron Orr team will help you get the job done and your money’s worth!

    Chelsey is amazing and very knowledgeable!! After my c-section I thought it would be very hard to train, but she proved me wrong! She took her time to help me gain my mobility and strength and from there I kept progressing. I feel better than ever now! I highly recommend Chelsey and the iron orr staff:)

    Really great facilities but what sets it apart are the personal trainers. My personal trainer is Brett Wheeless and he has been excellent so far. I have seen a massive improvement in my strength and functional fitness and my back problems have virtually disappeared. He also always makes sure I am properly warmed up and never over exerts me to avoid injury.

    I was having a tough time staying consistent and seeing continuous results with my workouts so I began the search for a personal trainer and found Brett at Iron Orr Fitness! I have been training with him for over a month now and have seen results in my muscle gain, fat loss, and endurance increase. As a doctor I don’t have a ton of time to workout and Brett prepares workouts for me as well as nutrition plans to encourage me throughout the week and keep me engaged and focused on my fitness.     My experience training here with Matthew Frankfurth has not only met, but exceeded my hopes and expectations. I cannot speak highly enough of him. I came in with my main goal being to build muscle and lift heavier. Having heard my friends's experiences with personal training elsewhere, I was worried that I would be spared things such as the bench press and dead lift because I am a girl. Not the case at all. Matt has supported my goals 100% from the start with so much enthusiasm and encouragement. I have been consistently improving in form and going up in weight week by week since I started, and my body feels amazing. I can always count on my personal training session to uplift me, energize me, and be a very effective stress reliever. It is very evident that Matt's background in physical therapy, years of education, first-hand experience in competitions, and history doing contracting for the military have made for him to be extremely competent as a trainer. Just as importantly, he’s such a genuinely nice person and so pleasant to be around. It makes getting your butt kicked by a hard workout not so bad! 10/10 would recommend to anyone!!

    My mom started working with Matthew Frankfurth recently and has seen tremendous success with her knee/core strength and stability (Especially during winter here). Matthew ensures he strikes the right balance between my mom's ability (based on her past mdicial conditions) as well as getting stronger and issue-free in the future. My mom trains 3 times a week and she now looks forward to go to gym more than anything else. We just enrolled her for another set of classes.     I joined Iron Orr in January and have had excellent personal training experiences both on-site and for the past few months virtually. My trainer Adrian has made a huge difference to my overall fitness and is always amending the routines with new excercises and progressively tougher challenges. The on-line sessions are supported up by the very good Iron Orr training app where Adrian posts the supplementary weekly training program. I would thoroughly recommend Iron Orr if you're looking for a friendly, professional and tailored fitness experience

    I've been powerlifting on and off for the past several years on my own, and my personal results have been really, really lackluster for someone who is at the prime of their life and really young. I decided I needed to find a personal trainer close by if ever I was going to make progress. After searching around, I found Iron Orr Fitness, and I explained my situation to them through the form they have on their website. Within the next business day, I got a reply back and was given a complimentary session with Brett Wheeless to assess my goals, my strengths, weaknesses, and everything else. Jump forward to right now, and I am still with Iron Orr and am going to stick with Brett for as long as I possibly can. Brett has been nothing short of an excellent trainer. In our first few sessions together, he has done everything to fix so much of my technique on all 4 of the major lifts, including: - Strengthening my glutes and stretching/strengthening out my hip muscles (to fix my hip alignment that was causing me to have a functional leg length discrepancy) - Fixing my deadlift form so that I do not hurt my lower back on heavier weights - Fixing my bench press form to ensure that I never tear my rotator cuffs - Adjusting my overhead press form so that I get more shoulder activation and ensuring that my lower back is in a safe position on every rep - And much, much more... Where has he been all my life? With his amazing guidance and support, my numbers on my lifts are going up now, and I no longer feel the discomforts that I've had in my lifts from years prior. He's just really good at what he does, and I can't thank him enough. If ever you need to find a personal trainer to help your powerlifting that is not only intelligent in the personal training field but is also a great man to talk to about anything at all, Brett Wheeless is your man. He will get you your results. In fact, I recommend him to everyone, regardless of your goals.

    Huge fan of Iron Orr Fitness. I recently came here looking to establish a consistent fitness routine, and had the opportunity to train with Brett! He is fantastic in all areas, and extremely knowledgeable about the human body. He is consistent and focused on helping me achieve my goals, and is quite explanatory when talking about the purpose behind each exercise and how it will lead me to reach my goals. He is patient and accommodating with my busy schedule and I could not be more pleased.     This place is great for your workout routine. Lots of workout equipments and tools offered, such as threadmills, cycling machines, free weights, dumbbells, barbells, Bozu, mats, etc. Keep in mind that you gotta be a resident living in one of the Costa Verde apartments or its sister apartment to gain the entrance. However, if you know a friend who lives there, you can come in as a guess complimentarily.

    Chelsey is an amazing trainer who listens to her client's needs and adjusts the workouts accordingly! I'm noticeably stronger and leaner than before (all of my friends have commented on how much fitter I look, which is always a fantastic compliment). The whole team of trainers and the environment at Iron Orr are friendly and encouraging! Highly recommend Chelsey if you're looking for someone to motivate you to get strong and lean.

    If you’re interviewing several trainers to see who is the best fit for you, you need to include Brett Wheeless of Iron Orr Fitness. I came into their gym a 35 year old who hadn’t worked out, well, ever. Playing sports, sure, but a gym workout was a daunting idea! I wanted to make a change...get out of my lanky, skinny fat frame. A little over a year later, Brett has gotten me from zero gym experience to 5x/week, 19% body fat to ~11%, and up ~15 pounds of muscle! Brett has been there through my negativity, keeping me on track with the right amount of push. Neither the physical nor mental results were an easy task for me, and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without Brett there every step of the way. If I could afford to start each and every day with a workout with Brett, I would do it in a heartbeat! Give Brett the opportunity to help you with whatever gym desires are, and I promise you will not regret it!

    I have been training with Brett Wheeless for just over two months. I'll divide my review into two parts, one of the gym and one of Brett specifically. Gym Review: I really like this gym compared to others I have tried. The equipment quality is very high. One can tell that they put effort into maintaining and servicing the equipment so that it is safe and clean. Their offerings span the full range of equipment and I've never found myself in a situation where I was unable to do an exercise due to lack of appropriate equipment. The gym is small compared to larger chain offerings, so if you go during the pre and post-workday rush hours, you will probably find yourself having to wait. Review of trainer Brett Wheeless: I am very pleased with the quality of personal training from Brett. Before starting training, I was a gym novice and very insecure with working out in the gym. In addition, I have a back condition that makes several exercises difficult or impossible. From the beginning, Brett has factored this into my training plan and so far I have been very pleased. I physically feel myself getting stronger with improvements to my posture, balance, and overall energy levels. I look forward to continuing to train with him! P.S. Fair warning, Brett has a tendency to request constant fist bumps. 😎

    I had a small injury in my shoulder, and Brett really helped me get rid of it - I just walked out of my workout and asked a quick question and he took me to the side and showed me exercises to get rid of it. Super helpful gym and trainers!

    I recently started going to Iron Orr and I have had great experience so far. Justin, who is the gym owner, met with me for a thorough consultation / evaluation and then set me with up on a program with two excellent trainers (Francesca and Jay). It’s awesome to workout with experienced trainers who understand physiology, and are genuinely focused on matching exercises to the client’s abilities and goals. The staff, starting with Justin, are very customer friendly and create a welcoming environment for members. The facility itself is fully equipped with everything from cardio equipment to a turf room to weights and more. The focus on cleanliness is better than any gym I have ever seen. Kudos to Justin for creating such a great place to workout and to the staff for continuing the vision.

    I started going to Iron Orr couple of months ago and I love it there. I have been training with Francesca and have seen great results. She is very knowledgeable and understands what I need to see actual results. She and the team didn’t make any fake promises but laid down actual real goal which can help track your results. I have lost around 10 pounds and feel lot leaner. Francesca pushes my limit and forces me to get out of comfort zone. Besides Francesca I have worked out with couple of other trainers and I loved working out with them too. They might have different styles but they follow the plan and actually listen to what you need. In the past after few months I get bored with working out but that has not been the case since I started at Iron Orr. They also focus on nutrition and help you keep track of it. Overall I think Iron Orr is an excellent choice to achieve your health goals!

    Facility is clean, spacious, and has a wide array of equipment that fits anyone's needs. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. I worked with many of the different trainers at Iron Orr Fitness, and each and every one of them are amazing to work with. They taught me different workouts, nutrition plans, and warmup/stretching routines that allowed me to surpass all of my fitness goals quickly and safely.

    I used to hate exercise. Ive only done majority cardio and HIIT work so those always leave me dying and out of breath. I decided to try weight training because of all its benefits for bone health and old age (in addition to gaining pandemic weight). However, having been always intimidated in gym weight rooms, I wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing to be safe and avoid injuries. Iron Orr has a free consultation session so I decided to check it out and see what they can offer me. They cater each program to the individual and their goals. John Callaghan trained me and he was amazing. John introduced so many exercises to me and taught me how to do it in the proper form. When I dont feel certain muscles, he would teach me modifications or alternate lifts I could do to have a better mind-muscle connection. I used to have a nagging back pain and after addressing it with him and working on exercises that help strengthen my back and core, it went away. I've trained with John for more than a year and I still use everything I learned from him when I'm training by myself. In addition to his degrees, he has trained clients all over the world and entire athletic teams so you know you're in the best hands. Thanks John for all your guidance and sorry this is long overdue!
