This place is absolutely horrible. They scared you with feeding tubes in order to make you eat, you can't go outside unless your at a certain level, you have to sit everywhere EVEN ON THE FLOORS IN THE BATHROOMS, the staff are so horrible and rude, I wasn't able to see my parents until I left which had been more than month, you only get a 15 minute phone call a day, and it's basically prison but for teens. The therapists there are no help what so ever, my therapists did nothing to help me. The nurses there are the sweetest people I have met, but their are no actual doctors on the treatment floor. Also, you only get a certain amount of time with your therapist. I am now fully recovered from my eating disorder, and I did this without the help of this terrible place. In fact, as soon as I left I relapsed and ended up in the hospital. However, I recovered on my own with my family. These people lie and hid certain details about treatment from your parents, and don't give the whole picture. I would not recommend this place, please if your trying to help your son or daughter overcome their eating disorder this is definitely not the place to do so. Please, find help somewhere they feel safe and comfortable.

alright, i’ve been here 2 times. i wouldn’t recommend. yes, the staff are nice and the nurses (carrie, brooke, deena, jana, shelby) are lovely <3 but the therapists do nothing. all erc does is weight restore you then send you on your way. you’re not allowed outside unless you’re on level 2, you have to sit everywhere (literally, you’ll get a redirection if you don’t sit & could be boosted), 15 min phone calls, and so much more. it’s traumatizing. they’ll force a tube on you if you miss a few meals/snacks, or make you sit at a nurses station with boost until you finish it, which keeps you from all groups (makes no sense especially if you need to be in groups?) it’s a good place if you want to be traumatized. shoutout to the nurses & a few bhcs <3 youre missed by me :(

TW!!!! I was at ERC Denver juniper a little less than a year ago. I was there for 9 days. They were so bad to the kids that multiple people were actively trying to off themselves including me. Please please please if you are looking to go to treatment or send your child somewhere, look at Monte Nido. They will help. ERC will only leave permanent scars on you or your child.

The care for my daughter and our family has been exemplary. We did not only receive excellent care at ERC facility but the after care and support going forward after treatment kept us on the road to recovery. It may be a hard decision to go into ERC but it is the right decision - probably the hardest thing we've ever done but NO regrets!

I have read the reviews about this clinic and it breaks my heart. How is a place allowed to operate that is inhumane humiliating and cruel? I saw that one girl will never seek treatment again because she had such a terrible experience here and another girl said that this place ruined her life and there are other things that are just horrendous here and I just want to tell the girls here that please don't give up because there is a really good place here in Colorado it's in Boulder and it's called La Luna and I have known a few girls that have successfully completed the program and their lives were a lot more peaceful, productive, and manageable. My sister was one. Saved her life. All of you girls and guys deserve decent treatment and deserve to allow yourself to keep trying so please don't let this place make you give up. I am so sorry for all of your pain that you all have had to go through. I seriously wept reading these reviews. I wanted to hug every girl on here. To thine own self be true. One Day at A time.

ERC saved my daughters (teen) life. We battled with ARFID for over a year and it destroyed our family slowly. My sweet daughter so tried to do this with our internal team weekly and she could never make headway. Finally our internal team said to my husband and I higher level of care and the journey to find ERC was terrifying. We fought sending her up every moment of the way and I am so glad the team told us no more go to ERC. I can go on and on and we were scared, nervous and hopeless. We read reviews, I did a personal tour and gave in because what we were doing wasn't working and she wasn't getting better. We trusted our internal team and started with IOP which in itself was a huge step full of emotions. Our daughter never fought us going which shocked up. It lasted 1.5 weeks and while she was learning it was determined RESIDENTIAL was needed to quickly turn this around. Shockingly she never fought with us to go up to rez as she knew she needed more. ERC saved her life from the moment we took her to Res. Yes it was hard, yes it was terrifying but we had no choice. I spoke to the patient advocate who in my mind was me "a mom" who went thru the journey. I was candid with her and felt ok this will work. Our daughter has never spent the night away so it was all the things as a mom getting her there. The staff was AMAZING. They were communicative, kind, caring and we consider them an extension of our family. Some of the ProTee's were also so sweet to us when we visited. Now was it like camp- of course not. I told my daughter YOU have to do your journey to recovery. The key is to focus on you and not others. It took abt 3 weeks for weight restoration to begin. She completed from the moment she walked in. (yeah I was like now you start eating) She learned so much and in 6 weeks she was weight restored and stepped down to PHP and is stepping down again. ERC is where heros work! No exaggeration. The education is AMAZING. I wish I didn't have to balance work and could attend all of the education they offered. Also wish they would write a book because the tools they show you are good for most parents IMO. To the entire staff at ERC... Dr Wooten, Dr Fleck, our dream team and to the others that made the meals, cleaned the rooms etc. Thank you- you gave us our daughter back. We still have a full journey of recovery but at least now we can see that it is possible. BTW my daughter has said multiple times she wish she was admitted sooner to ERC.

This place quite literally saved my life. I would not be here right now if not for the love and support from the staff here. Don't get me wrong, there were some very frustrating moments while I was here. But at the end of the day, I can't complain. I can't complain about them saving my life, and I know for a fact that I can't complain about the way that they treated patients there. Eating disorders are fundamentally similar to addictions. They are a viscous, and unrelenting monster that will consume your life right in front of your eyes. I can't complain about the comfort of living there because at the end of the day, they saved my life, and I will always be grateful. P.P. Toxic Positivity :)

I was inpatient here about three years ago. I came in from out of state and paid out of pocket (so I don’t have any experience with the insurance issues people have talked about.) My treatment, however, was wonderful. I lakes in the doors and as soon as I signed my papers, I had my first panic attack. Immediately, a nurse was at my side and calmed me down. I had another one in the hallway and my assigned therapist took me outside for fresh air. They’re very stern on you finishing your plate, but after months of starving myself, eating in a secured environment was so comforting to me. I’m probably the only patient to ever ask for seconds. I received a lot of coping skills and very personal one on one care. They didn’t push medication, but eventually I allowed them to ease me on it. By the time it was time for me to leave, I had concurred almost all my fear foods and was on a perfect medication routine. I left the facility very healthy and happy. I was only sad about leaving such a safe and wonderful environment. Fast forward to today, I’m unfortunately not very well. I have retracted. I wish I lived in Denver, because I desperately want to go back. I’m not sure I can afford it though. In my life I’ve dealt with a lot of truma and bad memories, but ERC is in the top 4 of beat life moments. Just below the birth of my 3 babies. If you have the opportunity to be treated here, you’re very VERY VERY BLESSED.

ERC residential/inpatient lacked therapeutic groups and my particular therapist (Laura) was a horrible individual therapist. However, the rest of the staff were kind, caring, compassionate, and competent. Overall, the other patients formed an incredibly supportive group and environment. At times, people competed for feeding tubes and tubes became trophies. For a treatment center, the food was decent. I wouldn’t recommend ERC for ED-T1D (insulin restriction) as they use permissive hyperglycemia which enabled my eating disorder. My diabetes was not well controlled and I left with an A1C of 8.2-I stepped down to res at ERC from another treatment center that had gotten my A1C down to 6.2 in 3 months. Dr. Mehler (founder of Acute and medical provider at ERC) told multiple parents they their daughters “aren’t that bad” and that he had “seen much worse.” Which, even if true, is detrimental to recovery.

As a parent of a child with an eating disorder, this is one of the best support groups that I have attended. I have only been attending the meetings for a few months now, but the moderator,Beth Ayn, brings a wealth of knowledge, personal experience, compassion, and an abundance of willingness to help out. I learn a lot from the other parents who attend as well. Most of the families who have or have had loved ones in residential treatment centers have been at Eating Recovery Center of Denver. They speak highly of their experiences at ERC.

ERC in Denver has been a godsend for our daughter. She entered inpatient needing medical stabilization, then moved through residential and partial hospitalization. Her team was consistent through the entire stay which helped so much. Parental involvement is heavily emphasized which is great because having the knowledge and experience is key for going home and continuing recovery. The parent courses and support programs are very helpful. Dealing with an ED is very scary, but the team really helps to arm you with knowledge, and use proven techniques and practices to help a patient make needed progress. The facilities are also very warm and welcoming. We traveled across the country for ERC and it was totally worth it.

As a parent many reviews with treatment centers are scary to look at in an already heightened time and major decision making process for your child and entire family. Most who do reviews are patients themselves who are very sick and going through a very traumatic process. This is why I feel the need to write a review for our young daughter's treatment with ERC Pine in Denver. This is our 8th treatment facility within four states within the past two years. We live out of state of Colorado and we did not take the decision to place her so far away from home lightly, however she was steeped again in her eating disorder and so very sick. Our daughter did both IP and Res with step down to PHP at this location. We just discharged and are headed back home to continue the work of her treatment. She made amazing gains with weight restoration at Pine that we were not able to accomplish anywhere else. With eating disorders, weight restoration needs to happen or the brain can not fully utilize treatment. Food truly is medicine. We attribute this great success in weight restoration with consistency and a phenomenal treatment team that worked so closely together. In other places there was great turnover of staff and this resulted in lack of consistency and communication break downs. Our daughter's ed has been so strong that it quickly found these loopholes. This was especially evident on weekends when the treatment teams were not onsite and the staffing was hard to come by. The few gains she made from the week were then lost and then some over weekends and then it was clawing back and the necessary gains needed were never attained. When I came out to Denver for PHP for 5 weeks, uprooting myself from home and leaving my family, including other children, back home, I was a bit apprehensive. The Family in Residence piece with parent sessions, education, support groups, therapy, etc. were amazing. I learned so much and met some amazing other parents along the way. It is such a great support system in such a difficult time. I feel more equipped and ready to head home to continue on than I have in any of the other facilities we have been a part of. ERC believes in, delivers, and educates Family Based Therapy (FBT) which is research based and crucial in the recovery of children and adolescents. Parents are absolutely necessary in the recovery process of their children! Other facilities we have been in have used young adult or adult strategies/treatment modes that are not working with this younger population. Our daughter kept getting stuck and the "professionals" were not hearing our pleas to work with us in the FBT model. Additionally, ERC implements Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) and teaches and models this to parents. This has been good for our whole family, especially our other children. The whole family has repercussions with this debilitating disease. Making treatment decisions is the hardest decision parents have to make, especially when going far away from home. We do not regret our decision to send our daughter to Denver ERC-Pine one bit. Good luck to the rest of you parents in this very difficult and traumatic time!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Alaska and a member of the Board of Directors of the Alaska Eating Disorders Alliance. I facilitate my nonprofit's monthly caregiver support group. Parents who attend my support group have shared their positive experiences when their children received treatment at Eating Recovery Center in Denver. These parents spoke highly of the professionalism of staff, their treatment recommendations, their effective treatment interventions and modalities, and the wide array of services and resources provided to them and to their children.

ERC is a fantastic treatment center. I am a dietitian in VA and have had numerous patients seek treatment with ERC Denver and have had excellent outcomes. ERC's work is backed by research and they emphasize quality care for their patients. I highly recommend them!

A child of close family friend was a patient and she was saved by them. The care received was professional and caring and her family was very pleased.

So many people have been changed by this amazing recovery center. You can tell that the staff & directors genuinely care about the patients and people they interact with everyday. My friend has never been the same in the best possible way since starting her recovery journey at this location. So grateful for the work that they do & continue to do everyday.

I am posting this for any parents wondering what to do next. My teen daughter completed residential and PHP through ERC-Denver for anorexia. I credit her team at the hospital (Dr. Mike, Annie and Jessica) for much of the progress she made in her recovery. Admittedly the therapy and thought process on eating disorder recovery was illogical to me at first - I spent hours and hours researching and reading, but it works. ERC stopped the bleeding so to speak and provided a roadmap to further recovery. My daughter is now in another ERC location in IOP and has a private team (therapist and dietician) in addition to her team at ERC. She is doing great so far. Up and down. Back and forth. It's a long road. If you are wondering what to do next, don't take an eating disorder lightly or think it's a phase (I did this). An eating disorder progresses at light speed. I wish I would have known this prior to my daughter ending up in the hospital. I hope this helps someone. I definitely recommend ERC-Denver - a big thanks to that team.

I am a dietitian in the Richmond, VA area. My experiences with ERC in Colorado have been wonderful. ERC in Colorado has stopped their ED behaviors, allowed weight restoration (when applicable), and stabilized the patients to be safe and return home. The facility does a great job educating parents/supporters/family. To me, ERC is the gold standard of care in the United States. ERC typically is the first place I will refer clients that need a higher level of care.

I want to start off by saying this place is terrible. The only thing it does is traumatize kids into eating. They would punish you for not eating like taking your clothes away sitting out of groups not letting you outside for fresh air (not to mention it was a policy to have baggy clothes) and this girl had only underwear on and a crop top. They also lied to my parents so much and at one point told my parents to ignore me until I stopped having a panic attack. Also they treated the kids like trash. Like most of my tubed friends have told me how they got held by the neck while getting a tube shoved down their throats and how they would be aggressive and yell. And also one day there was a little nine year old girl and she threw up because the tube was pumping too fast and couldn’t handle it, she was forced to clean her own puke. WITH HER BARE HANDS a broom and powder and locked us away so we couldn’t see her crying. You couldn’t cry or they would faze you down because you weren’t using your “coping skills”. Their technique is literally taking everything away from you until you have nothing and/or traumatizes you and you start eating because you’re so desperate to get out. The amount of parents that say “it was amazing” does not know how it is. And if they stayed there for 3 months with an ed they would not be saying that. This comment won’t even matter because they just respond with AI generated comments. But seriously this isn’t okay. And this place needs to be stopped. There was a little girl that had to be watched by a twenty year old man or else she would get fazed down. And people think that’s ok.. ERC needs to be stopped

PLEASE I BEG YOU DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE. i was admitted when i was 12 and was in their inpatient program for almost four months. i was not allowed to go outside once. they use punitive methods to "help you recover" such as having to sit with a meal supplement all day instead of going to the groups that are supposed to HELP YOU. (spoiler alert: they didnt do anything anyway). the staff were overall awful (i had a few good experiences- i miss you sariah, lakshmi, brantley, and dillion) but almost every other staff said or did something to me that left me feeling awful. THIS PLACE TRAUMATIZED ME. I was not suicidal when i arrived but (sorry if this upsets you) it got to the point where i was attemping suicide every day and THE STAFF KNEW. MY THERAPIST KNEW. they did NOTHING. i have PTSD and nightmares every night over a year later AND that doesnt even cover half of it. PLEASE SEND YOUR KIDS TO CHILDRENS HOSPITAL DENVER INSTEAD. THEIR PSYCH PROGRAM SAVED MY LIFE. They also have family based therapy and an amazing PHP program. YOUR KID'S LIFE DEPENDS ON IT.

They utilize one method of therapy (family based) and continue to use it even when it is not effective. My therapist Heather (who I was warned about by other patients when I arrived) repeatedly violated my trust when I was not a danger to my self or others and left me with lasting trauma. Her methods included scream whispering into a patients ear to "just eat it" when they were struggling during a meal. Another staff member at a time left me as a patient to comfort a girl having a panic attack after she ripped out her tube and never returned. Only other patients noticed this was happening. Repeatedly patients are given opportunities to act on behaviors due to lack of supervision by staff. Do better for your kids.

Thank you ERC! What a fantastic resource. We believe ERC has saved our daughters life. We are so appreciative of the incredibly caring, compassionate and professionals; from the receptionists that are always smiling and willing to assist, to the community counselors that spend hour and hours with our kids, the team that does daily meetings to educate us parents, and a special thanks to Jess (dietician), Annie (therapist) and Dr. Solomon (psychiatrist)…you all are so wonderful. Not only did the entire team make give our daughter the tools to succeed but they taught us, the parents how to handle this difficult time in life. This is a family situation and ERC supports all. I would recommend Eating Recovery Center to anyone in need of their services.

If I could give this "well-deserved establishment" a negative infinity, I would do so in a heart beat. First off, I was basically forced to come here as an innocent 15 year old girl after spending the past 3 months within 6 hospitals, including ACUTE. ACUTE was actually helpful and its services made me begin to believe there was actually hope in my life and I could overcome my eating disorder. That was until they suggested to my parents I should go to ERC. Now, my parents weren't in the wrong..they just wanted help. Help was definitely not what our family got here. Between the constant manipulation and lying to my parents, they never knew the truth that went on past those thick security doors. With constant mental breakdowns and children wanting to actively off themself, it was a triggering environment. To make matters worse, you aren't able to have too many dislikes and oh wait let me not forget..if you are allergic to something it's actually a fear food according to your dietician! Why? Because its YOUR EATING DISORDER TALKING. Programming, however, went alright. Sometimes it felt helpful when the staff was obviously trained. A few memorable staff were Cooper, Valeria, and Lakshmi. BUT LIVING THERE IS A WHOLE NIGHTMARE. I don't know what organic vegan 100% all natural detergent they use (assuming they even buy some for us) but my clothes were ruined. Oh and stolen! What a joy. I could go on for hours, but I'm genuinely tired right now so part 2 coming soon LMAOOO
