Thankfully I was able to turn around without rolling off the mountain and briefly considered parking down the road from the trailhead and simply walking up to it but there were at least 5 dogs all barking at me alongside the road I would have to walk on, and having not had the best experiences with Puerto Rican dogs so far, I wasn’t willing to risk getting bitten by a dog thinking it needs to protect its territory from me. Seriously - heed caution if you decide to attempt getting there. The last 3k of the drive starts to get a little sketchy as the road dramatically narrows, but the last 1k is, in my opinion, impassable. I’m sure it was a beautiful hike but not worth risking my life for.
