This is a very historical site that should be better protected. You can see where some of the petroglyphs have been removed. This is a beautiful place and well worth the drive to come and see.. let's all do our part to protect these precious sites for our grandchildren.. Tread lightly and pack out our trash and no glass on the beach..

While a small outcrop, the site is absolutely worth the visit. Easy access from the road. To fully enjoy the petroglyphs you need to be able to scramble around, but a subset can be seen from the access trail with little effort. Please respect the place!

Pretty cool little spot to learn a bit of history and see some petroglyphs. You do have to climb over some of the rocks to see some of the petroglyphs so be aware of that. There were also lots of bugs.

Put together excellent. Interesting story told by pushing the button and one could picture the event as it was spoken. Well maintained and beautiful this time of year with fall colors everywhere.

A short 5 minute walk to get to the place, it has a beach area for swimming. Perfect Historical place if your into history. The petroglyphs along the Snake river are unique and worth stopping by to see. They were created by the ancestors of the Nez Perce, and date to around 4,500 years old. Some in the area are obviously much later as they depict a buffalo hunt with people using horses (which weren’t acquired by the Nez Perce until around 1630). Still other figures hold atlatls, which would date the art to around 2,000 years old. Buffalo Eddy Washington

Amazing to see history up close and personal. It’s too bad that people have defaced some of the petroglyphs.

Easily missed while driving so look for the historic marker sign and the small parking area. Very short walk to the petroglyphs. The majority are on the other side of the Snake River and only accessible by boat. Worth the drive and the views are quite spectacular.

Really nice KOA park. Good level pull-throughs, clean showers and reasonable, for a KOA at $42.

Short interpretative trail down to some lovely petroglyphs. Please preserve them.

We stopped here for a rest and to check out the museum. We were very impressed. The museum contains plenty of artifacts and native historical items, all presented in an interesting way. There are interactive displays for kids where you can touch real fur and guess the animal. There is also a theater that showed a film of the history of the local tribes. Worth the stop, plan on spending about an hour to visit.

Gorgeous site. The petroglyphs are really cool and the hike to see them is super easy. As an added bonus, there are white sand beaches at the bottom that are secluded. You can fish a bit here, as well. No swimming is allowed here and the water is way too dangerous for that.

Wow, how rare is it that you can visit a place like this to look in the past to get a small vision of the Nez Perce people. They have a brochure to take and walk around the area with facts about the people, land, and buildings. Nice trails through the grounds and along Clearwater River. Large open grass area with shade trees and picnic tables. Must stop to have respectful reflection on the historical and currently active cemetery. One word of caution, bring insect repellent for you and pets.

It was very educational very eye-opening I really enjoyed myself beautiful things that they have to show you in the museum in the movie that goes with it and then there's places to visit like the church and the Country Store and the old Cemetery I give it a ten thumbs up

Good knowledge tour. The Nez Perse were a strong Tribe with strong families. Bought a new book about Yellow Wolfe. They had a very strong tie to the land.
