Train station Bus stop Transit station

👍 Everything at this station was fine, as far as Amtrak stations go. They offer bag holding services for $10 per bag (with a valid same-day Amtrak ticket) which was nice, just be sure to arrive a bit early to pick up your bag before the train, as the lines here can move slow. Departures section was ok... People often mention station, train, Diego, Amtrak, ticket, nice, restroom, depot, ride, great,

They offer bag holding services for $10 per bag (with a valid same-day Amtrak ticket) which was nice, just be sure to arrive a bit early to pick up your bag before the train, as the lines here can move slow. Departures section was okay, but arrive 20 mins before your train departs to line up (unless you’re riding solo or don’t care where you end up sitting).

Review is on the Sante Fe Depot station. I have mixed feelings on the depot and its staff. (Amtrak). I arrived, expecting to ride the surfliner from the depot to Oceanside. I have never really been on a train before. Im in my 60s with advanced cancer and trying to do somethings with my wife. I approached the amtrak counter and explained I would like to take a train ride, get off by the beach for an hour then ride back. He was extremely nice and helpful. I did not even know how to get a ticket. He actually left the counter area, showed me the ticket machine and how to use it. Then introduced me to the train personnel who Was also a great help and friendly. The trip was fantastic. The problem was not until I returned, got off the train and walked into the Sante fe depot. I walked over to the restroom (had a combo lock on the door, like many do). I approached the counter and asked a young lady if I could have the combo to use the restroom. She asked if I used the train. I said yes, i just got off and pointed to the train outside the door. She said do you have a ticket? I said yes and showed her 2 tickets (for my wife and myself ) with the receipt. She then said, im sorry, youre not allowed to use the restroom. I asked why not? She told me I need a amtrak ticket and I rode the Coaster train which is not Amtrak, but shares the depot station. The surfliner was my original intention (Amtrak) but Amtrak personnel put me on the Coaster because of the timing and goes to the same place. I hold nothing against that gentleman. He had nothing but my best interest at heart. But the young lady who denied me use of the restroom really put a bad ending to my trip. Especially when I saw a couple homeless stand by the door and wait for somebody to come out and then go in. I should have done the same thing, but I tend to follow rules. (Another case where being honest -doesn’t pay). Now I should mention the depot appears to be a clean and interesting place. There is a small place/counter to order a sandwich or soda and appeared to be well kept and clean. I wonder if I ordered a bottle of water, drank it, became a Amtrak customer, if i could have used the restroom? Or here, drink this and go to the restroom somewhere else? Maybe if I was younger, but a older gentleman like me just simply cant always wait for a restroom for very long.

Very nice architecture, but nowhere to get food in the station aside from a snack stand. For a city like San Diego, I think the station needs more eateries inside. Thankfully, the station in nestled downtown, so you’ll have no trouble finding a restaurant. There is also a very easy connection to the trolley which is great!

Amazing architecture and design. Unfortunately it is showing its age on the inside a bit but amazing none the less. It is centrally located with in walking distance to the Federal Courthouse, USS Midway, and Spreckels Theatre. It is also only a short trolley ride away from Petco Park and the Gaslamp District.

The San Diego Santa Fe Depot is a historic building constructed in the Spanish Revival architectural style in 1919. It features a high vaulted ceiling and the inside would be nice for photos. I've passed through this station for the MTA, the commuter rail, and Amtrak on several occasions without issue.

DANGER! Staff is very rude and unhelpful. Asked to talk to the station Master and was told there was no such thing. Asked to talk to who was in charge and again was told I couldn't. Asked for the Boss's name, told there was none. I'm am a supported of rail transit and amtrak. I served on state and nation rail advocacy groups. But this is inexcusable

It amazes me that in 2020 this station does not have any places to charge a phone or laptop. Searching around I found an old sign in the visitors area that said charging station $3 for 30 min. and $5 for 60 min. Shame on you city of San Diego, take care of your tourists.

Absolutely love ❤️ San Diego. Not easy on the wallet but if you plan ahead you can easily find some ways to make your visit enjoyable. For example pack up a picnic lunch and spend time at the beach. Just relax and enjoy life. rg-

Fast, easy, efficient way to get from San Diego to L.A.. The Santa Fe depot is a beautiful spot that offers seating, a little spot to grab coffee and a snack while you wait. I booked my tickets online - was a breeze.

It can be hard to pick people up from it. Better to walk to it if you can. I like its architecture.

Safest transit station in the county, very lovely. The courtyard area is nice with a cool designated smoking area on the far end instead of some dingy corner like others. I wish the employees wouldn't call unhoused people "the homeless problem" when I asked why they removed the water fountain and locked the bathrooms which is bad for Amtrak customers as well. Hoping they won't soon have roped-off waiting room seats like in LA.

i take the surfliner every weekend, its very convenient, my only issue is with they customer service and welcoming. theres times i feel unwelcomed here, D'agostino is usually they conductor, im 30 heavily tatted and a licensed welder for city of LA , ive got my bag searched ive had my ticket questioned all because this guy has an issue with how i look. being in customer service for travelers should have a better attitude and not judge a book by its cover. poor judge of character and i hope this doesn't represent amtraks

I love Santa Fe Depot! Fun fact: There are office buildings above the main depot running the entire length of it. It has had no one up there since the 30"s. It was used for railroad employees who traveled from stop to stop. There are also tunnels running under the building that go across the tracks, but dont tell anyone I told you!! Here is a pic I secretly took of an incinerator and door that were underground. What a piece of San Diego History!!

(Translated by Google) This is San Diego Central Station. Not only do the trains leave from here, the buses also leave from in front of the station and arrive here. The trolley terminus is also here, we find it as America Plaza. Centrally located. Unfortunately the toilet is not open. This is typical of the whole of San Diego anyway, the toilets are paid or closed. Sajnos a wc nincs nyitva. Ez amúgy San Diego egészére jellemző, a wc-k fizetősek vagy be vannak zárva.

I wasn't actually using aamtrack either time I was in San Diego but was trying to get the coaster. I didn't realize the difference and the ticket salesman tried being funny both times but he was just aggravating, no help, and caused me to miss the coaster.

Gorgeous old train station. I'm glad they maintain it in it's early 1900's splendor. As a modern user, however, it lacks certain amenities like public restrooms (unless you are an Amtrak ticket holder). But what about us NCTD Coaster commuters? We have need of a restroom occasionally, too.

Wow the lady behind the desk was extremely rude and was trying her best to have a go at us while booking amtrax train you could tell straight away she wanted to argue with us and made us feel like we shouldn't ask any question she really shouldn't work there if she feels like that she has no customer skills whatsoever and has a real chip on her shoulder i could say a lot more about the lady but I'll leave it there, enough said.

I recently visited this train stop and I’m usually not the kinda guy to ride trains... Honestly, I drive boats so I’m used to living higher class so when I got to said train station MelindaLee Welch was absolutely an outstanding employee and is the epitome of what good customer service should be. Everyone working for this company should take notes!!
