I was really excited to try this place as I’m always on the hunt for amazing and authentic Latin cuisine, and when I walked in the door I was pleasantly surprised by the wide variety in their menu. I was with my mom and we ordered an assortment of pastries and a couple of empanadas and while we waited I snapped some pics of the adorable atmosphere. As we moved down the counter and deeper into the restaurant to make sure we were socially distanced I noticed something a little off putting. One of the ladies that was working had come out of the kitchen and walked up to the woman at the grill who was making my food and started talking to her. This of course is not an issue, what bothered me was that she was eating food from a plate she was holding in her hand and talking very close to someone who was cooking my empanadas. I waited to see if this would be a brief encounter which to my surprise it wasn’t, and as I saw food falling from her fork I felt I had to say something. As politely as I could I asked if she could eat her food away from the grill and my food that was being prepared. To my astonishment she not only began to defend herself, but the woman making my food suddenly said “that’s my daughter!” I was so shocked by their response that I just paid and left. Without even having my first bite this place left a bad taste in my mouth from this one encounter and I most likely won’t be going back and wouldn’t recommend purely based on their customer service. I’m half El Salvadoran and have worked in family restaurants since I was legally able to. I was always taught to never eat food in the prep area and certainly not where customers can see you unless you’re sitting at a table on break. Have you ever been to a restaurant and seen employees eat their food while they’re making yours? Nope, and there’s a reason for that. I haven’t worked in a restaurant in a minute but I’m pretty sure the health inspector would still frown upon that. And hey, I’m all for people making honest mistakes, but to then argue and get so defensive over these actions was just not acceptable in my eyes. It’s unfortunate because I really wanted to support and like this place, especially since my godmother is Chilean.

We've been wanting to try this place, for years. For some reason, we hadn't done so until yesterday. Wow! What a disservice we did onto ourselves. We have been missing out! The food here is DELICIOUS! It's fresh, hot and tasty! It's authentic latin food (seasoned and prepared as do Central and Southern Americans, not Caribbeans), and it's SO worth it! The price is very reasonable and the service is done with a smile. Most DEFINITELY recommended! 👍🏼

Everything is homemade from scratch here! The portions are huge & are very reasonably priced. They definitely have the best rice & beans & empanadas in the area!

I cannot say enough good things about Los Hornitos! The only negative is that there's only so much room in your stomach to try their dishes. I've tried almost all of the cakes at Los Hornitos and have found them all to be outstanding. The lucuma is really unique and light and delish, and my other favorites are their mocca and cuatro leches *drool* (they also have a secret ChocoFlan cake you can specially request!) The other desserts that I've tried are all great too. Today I finally got to try some of their savory foods and had the cheese empanada and beef empanada - both were delish! The chicken and beef empanadas are baked, which makes them feel much lighter than traditional empanadas. The cheese was also lighter because it was a chewier cheese rather than a greasy one. I have yet to have anything at Los Hornitos that I didn't enjoy, and the staff are all so friendly and welcoming.

This is hands down my favorite place to eat in Dutchess County. I've eaten here hundreds of times, and it never fails to be some of the best tasting Chilean food I've ever had. I normally get the Cuban sandwhich (I have yet to find a better one, even in miami), but this time, I switched it up and got the Bistec A Lo Pobre, which was absolutely incredible. Oh, and don't even get me started about the dessert. My fiance and I can't get enough of the rainbow tres leches cake. Also, the owner and staff are also the best!

their doordash orders are never correct. instead of calling and offering a substitution or to cancel your order they’ll send you something else. wasting time and money because no one is going to eat the incorrect item. its happened on 3 separate occasions

The woman at the front desk usually gives me an attitude . I have been Here three times because it’s ion my way home but I would rather go to la deliiziosa where people are friendly and pleasant than at this place . . Never again ! The woman at the counter has a nasty attitude. She also gets upset with Americans when they do not know how to speak Spanish . The first time I went there , this woman left me standing there , until I asked her if she can please help me . Another time she gave me an attitude as if she was doing me a favor . and the last time she got upset as I asked was one of the breads made of .. and then she asked me if I needed anything else with a very nasty attitude . She should know that when running a business it helps to be kind , nice and pleasant to customers . . I will never go back there !!

A family from Chile opened a bakery in Wappingers over 16 years ago and I saw they made a class Chilean Dish so went to try it. Chilean Pastel de Choclo (beef and Corn pie) is an iconic dish. A classic during the summertime. When I was visiting in the wine countryside, the Pastel de Choclo was cooked in a clay dish inside a wood-burning oven. The flavors of the meat and corn mingle delightfully in this Chilean vs of Shepherds Pie. I was impressed that my pie came to n a classic clay bowl. Had a chance to meet the family when they took a break and the Daughter born and raised in our little community is a second year medical student —way to go.

I bought a teramisu cake for my boyfriend's birthday. First of all I want to say, the ladies that work here are amazing and patient. Now, their cakes are out of this world. I would recommend this Bakery, and will coming back.

We order all of our birthday cakes from them and their breakfast sandwiches are some of the best in the area. The salsa is very good and their Cuban tastes like abuelita made it fresh at home. The staff and owner are very friendly and welcoming. They also sell an assortment of cakes and cookies. Our favorite is the Tres Leches and the Flan!!! Bistec a lo pobre! The plate Originally come with French fries and eggs ! BUT I change and get rice ,beans ,eggs and Tostones (fried plantain ) with 1 apple juice bottle I pay $24 (Really expensive price for the plate food ) the food is tasty good and it's quiet place.

I absolutely love Los Hornitos and I go as often as I can. There are not a lot of places that serve Chilean food in the US and so they are extra special for that reason. The food is authentic and flavorful, and you can find typical cuisine of Chile that is distinct from other Latin American countries and get a taste of Chilean culture. Everything I have eaten here is delicious - the bread, empanadas, and pastries are always made fresh. I particularly love the empanadas de camaron queso which are served hot with delicious melty cheese inside, and also the hallulas. The salsa de ají they serve with the empanadas is also consistently very good. The owner, her family, and everyone who works here are very warm and friendly. Los Hornitos is a gem of Dutchess County and the community, and I recommend it highly.
