Just watched a live video of Punta Gorda police issuing tickets to protestors on a sidewalk. Extremely arrogant officers, corporal, as well. How sad our states have become with the disrespect to civilians. It is nation wide and it is so terrible and annoying to watch live as it happens and for some reason law enforcement is trying to bridge a gap with citizens and law enforcement. Advice- get better acting classes your distain for the public citizen’s is obvious since none of you all know what the first amendment is!

We had a customer try and run over one of our employees in the parking lot. So we called PGPD to come and take down a report. The office was a D#@* and aggressive to the employees that called for their assistant. Good job in keeping the peace.

Why is the police department not taking vehicle burglaries more serious? Rather than shirking their oath, perhaps PGPD should be serving and protecting. We are throwing away tens of millions of dollars between PGPD and CCSO when it seems that crime prevention and law enforcement is far too difficult for either agency to handle.

Detective Papas is one of the most rude, and unnecessary human beings to roam the earth. Also, he doesn't know how to fill out an arrest report correctly (Yikes!) Will be filing a lawsuit against PGPD and detective Alex Papas.

Why did three or more of your officers spend over an hour at the local DMV about a journalist taking some pictures? I thought it was a waste of time, and the Lieutenant on the scene (C. Salsman) could have simply defused the whole situation by informing the DMV that it was legal for the public to film in public areas. Instead, the officers seemed to be spending a huge amount of time conspiring on how to get the journalist arrested? Not a cool use of tax payers money over a camera... ridiculous. Catch some real criminals please.

Why did Lt. Lipker tell local residents at the Farmer's Market to boycott a specific youtube channel while on duty? Should the police be organizing boycotts against people, organizations or businesses while being paid by tax dollars? Is that their job?

As a police officer and veteran, I'm ashamed of your agencies conduct against citizens conducting constitutionally protected 1st amendment right. To all citizens, I would like to say that many of us within law enforcement DO NOT support this type of behavior, but after watching video after video. I’m starting not to believe it. SAD days in law enforcement. Good job TYRANTS

Is this what you call transparency? You trespass someone from a public building for exercising their 1st amendment rights?! Did you swear an oath to the Constitution? Your families and friends will see this interaction, and how terrified you are of accountability and freedom. Shame.

Have heard many horror stories about this department! Some cops appear to be self-righteous and entitled, judging people who have done nothing wrong. Tend to pull over citizens to waste time. We need better men and women on these streets. Men and women with good hearts and a good head on their shoulders.

I found my experience with the Punta Gorda police exceptional, they were all very professional and highly competent officers, obviously well trained because at all times I felt respected and protected while I watched them execute their duties with efficiency and skill. Of particular mention would be the actions of a one Lieutenant Kelvin Jimenez. He embodies the definition of public service and protecting public trust, I have the utmost respect for this man, and I wish him a long and fruitful career. Lieutenant you are one of the good ones, our great country would benefit having more officers like you showing the next generation how this job is done, and done right.

This departments ignorance of law is frightening. Super Troopers movie cite more real laws then this bunch. Up the standards, you "best" is worse then a Natinal lampoon movie. Civil rights violations left and right and "I think thats the law" comes out of your "officers" mouth way to often.

This is a NEW POLICE DEPARTMENT since Chief Davis took the job. All bad reviews, prior to her taking the job on January 2, 2018, should be expunged. That makes their average in reviews 4 STARS NOT 1.9 STARS. These guys are great. Always helpful and courteous. I've been around several situations in which they were needed and they are the best. Also, I'm not sure I should mention this, but have you noticed that we also have THE BEST LOOKING police chief in the state of Florida?

I'm pro police but the officers going all "swat" on a guy fishing and carrying a gun was a complete tyrannical move. They even said in the video they knew who the guy was. I don't respect anyone who doesn't respect the constitution. Especially those who took an oath to uphold it. Embarrassing display of law enforcement.

The Punta Gorda Police department is an incredibly professional agency. It's a little shocking to see a 1.8 rating. If you are a criminal I can understand how you may feel negative towards the department as they are very efficient when dealing with low life individuals. However, if you are a upstanding citizen they are truly here to Serve and Protect. I'm a 48 year native Floridian and have lived in several cities within the state. For anyone that feels The Punta Gorda PD is unprofessional, I encourage you to visit Fort Lauderdale or Miami. After seeing the gross level of corruption and abuse of power you will return to Punta Gorda and realize how lucky we are to have these great officers protecting our property and families. Thanks to all the Punta Gorda PD for the great work they do.

Thank you for what you do. We bought our home last year within city limits and there have been some up and downs. We love the area and we have taken the good with the bad. We have met some great officers that genuinely care about the community and showed so much compassion for the residents of PG. We see you too and respect all of your hard work and dedication.

Wrong Steven Crowley. Go to YouTube and check Rogue Nation's 1st Amendment audit and how the responding officers threatened arrest for a NON crime. πŸ’―% 1st amendment rights violations for everyone to see. And all that does is cost tax payers money in a lawsuit. To think you defend this behaviour is pathetic...uploaded June 9th 2019

11/15/2020 I had just called the Department regarding abuse at the Riverside Behavioral Center on E Olympia. I explained to Officer Berger. He was nice enough to call the Facility and ask what is going on in there with my wife. They are violating state law and enforcing unconstitutional ordinances.... Under 876.05 Public employees; oath.β€” (1) All persons who now or hereafter are employed by or who now or hereafter are on the payroll of the state, or any of its departments and agencies, subdivisions, counties, cities, school boards and districts of the free public school system of the state or counties, or institutions of higher learning, except candidates for federal office, are required to take an oath before any person duly authorized to take acknowledgments of instruments for public record in the state in the following form: I,Β Β , a citizen of the State of Florida and of the United States of America, and being employed by or an officer ofΒ Β Β and a recipient of public funds as such employee or officer, do hereby solemnly swear or affirm that I will support the Constitution of the United States and of the State of Florida. I didn't want to give them one star, when I was unconscious and unresponsive, the punta Gorda police departments officers choose to detain me groap me ,deny me medical attention and even charge me with a crime. These individuals are not fit for a law enforcement privilege, and should be stripped of such duties immediately.

Of course, everybody wants to give the police one star negative stars because of the authority the government has given police. I lived in Punta Gorda for almost a year and a half to say that I had to contact the police department at Punta Gorda Police Department several times regarding some incidents that I was having where I was living I found them tonight only be interested in what was happening they did not interrogate me for being the victim. And most importantly, they treated me like a citizen of the United States of America. In my opinion, this police department has the best police in America.
