This park is only worthwhile once it is cold outside and the manatees seek the warm water. Today the water temp was 90°F and none to be found. Neat observation areas and one includes a speaker to hear their underwater sounds. The trails here are very short -kid sized. Paid parking at the 2 meter areas. If you rent kayak here have to be back by 4:45pm and leave by dark. Will be awesome Dec - Feb

Great not-so-busy find! Free to get in, pay to park $2/hr or $5 (I think) for the day! Check the time of year before you go because there is a chance you will not see any during certain months. We went twice during our stay- on a Friday in early January at 3:45pm they all were coming in from the river! It was so active! Highly recommend for all ages and would go again and picnic.

Enjoyed our time at the park and on the water. Rental kayaks available as singles doubles. Pricing seemed fair'ish given its tourism related. You can bring your own and launch at the same place as the rentals. There are also guided tours available. Our time was great for viewing, dozens of Manatees around. There are drinks and ice cream available in the office where you rent. Bathrooms are also available and clean. Some souvenirs are available along with a pathway around the complex where you can see Manatees without having to venture into the water. There's a picnic area where someone was having a kids birthday. The parking lots require you to self pay and display your ticket. $5 for the day. Enjoy your visit...

Great place to get fresh water fish and invertebrates from. The owner, Rafael is a wonderful guy and he’s very knowledge. This is now my go to fish store and it smells good inside, not fishy at all. I’ve gotten snails, shrimp, community fishes, bettas, pufferfish, Flowerhorn and African cichlids here; all at a great price and all healthy!!

$5 for a day parking pass or $2 per hour. Open from dawn till dusk. We thought it was so neat to see the manatees so close up. This was my first time ever seeing manatees. You could spend an hour at this park or stay in there for hours looking at the Manatees. We spent longer than normal as we met with friends we haven’t seen for a while and had lunch with them while also walking around with them. Nice clear map when you enter the park after parking. Lots of beautiful flowers! Nice bathroom facilities. Nice picnic tables where we had a picnic lunch. Nice little gift shop also and you also have the ability to rent kayaks.

Update: The new location is open and looking great! There is a lot more room, a few new species of fish, and many more tanks to explore. Excellent service, pricing, and selection. The employees are super helpful, but not pushy or intrusive while you look. I have purchased most of my fish here as well as some decorations, live plants, and supplies - I have never been disappointed!

I was super excited when I first discovered this place, its huge and has a lot of cool stuff inside but after buying multiple batches of fish from them I don't think I'll be going back. About 7 months ago I bought 2 glow tetras from them, only 1 survived but I chalked it up to my parameters being off. About 3 months ago I bought 3 dwarf gouramis and a bunch of plants. Most of the plants died and my tank developed ick, killing the fish I bought from them plus three of my others. I thought it might of been operator error again, maybe i took too long to clean outthe dead plants or maybe I justshocked the tank from adding too much at the same time, so after treatingthe tank witwith melefix, cleaning and allowing time for it to regulate I returned once again to purchase 5 blue and red neon tetras. As the lady was fishing them out of the tank i noticed one dead fish stirred up by the net but I didnt want to rude and i figured "oh, they are tiny theres so many in there, they probably just didnt notice it yet..." when I cashed out the lady mentioned that I should take my time acclimating them-saying something about the ph. One died before i even got them home and 3 more died within 24hrs, leaving only 1 survivor even though i acclimated them very slowly and my tank parameters were spot on. Went to boardroom aquatics and got 5 guppies, all of them are happy and thriving.

Our families "go-to" destination. It is within a 50 minute drive for us. We loved it so much that we purchased a membership. The nature park is our little retreat. Now, it has not been updated, and we think that is part of the charm. Still a great place to see animals and visit the shop, while finishing up with a little ice cream. Other times we are so close to Ft Meyers, that we use it as an excuse to go on "treasure hunts".

First time visiting, looking for freshwater. Great selection of both fresh and salt/reef. First time seeing endlers livebearers in a store. Wide selection of all the common freshwater fish in different color variations. Everything from goldfish to redtail catfish(unfortunately). TONS of coral/frags! Lots of supplies. Store was busy with only a few employees. Will be returning.

When I walked into this place it felt like I had walked into an actual aquarium. It’s clean and has some beautiful displays up. The staff was very helpful and answered any and all questions I had as a beginner in saltwater setups. They didn’t have what I needed in stock (full kit was missing a light) and I had to go to the other location but I will definitely be coming back here for any other saltwater / freshwater needs.

Place was dark and empty but they had a few fish I was interested in...but pricing is very sketchy on the fish tanks. Barely readable warn magic marker. I had an older heavyset woman with an accent helping me (that I had to find sitting there doing nothing) when I asked about a certain fish and its price she laughed at me and walked away because I was mistaken, apparently. She immediately helped someone else and ignored me when I tried to explain to her I didn't understand the pricing barely readable on the aquariums. I felt slightly humiliated for being treated this way. I would have bought the $100.00 (3") fish I was asking about anyway and several others, but she was done helping me within 30 seconds because she was so amused by my mistake. I was shocked on how rude this person was. I was prepared to do business with these people since I just bought a new home in the area and had very large aquariums installed on each floor of my home and a manmade pond which I was looking to stock. I've been in love with this hobby for over 30 years and never had an encounter quite like this ever before. I walked right out of there in disbelief on this woman's nasty attitude. If she's the owner she has a lot to learn; luckily I found Seven Seas in Cape Coral....makes this place look like a dump.

Very slow at helping multiple customers. Waited in the store 25 minutes for help not a single employee acknowledge my presence or asked if I need help. I’ll go to seven seas, it’s a little farther but I’ll be treated properly

When it comes to riding the wave of aquatic life, Aquarium and Reef Center is an epic spot. They're stocked with an awesome selection of plants, and it's like finding the perfect break every time I visit. 🌊🌿 Stephen, their in-house guru, is cooler than a cucumber in a sea breeze. He's always there to lend a hand, and his chilled-out, helpful vibe makes each visit a pleasure. It's like having a dolphin buddy guiding you through the aquatic life. 🐬 And let's not forget the dwarf crawfish, dudes! This place is my go-to when I'm in need of these little guys to keep the stoke high in my aquarium. 🦞 So here's to Aquarium and Reef Center - five stars for keeping it real and riding high!

Sold me Eclamation Point Rasboras labeled as Chili Rasboras. Sold me Chinese Algae Eaters labeled as Otocinclus. The only thing correct was the obvious horned nerite snails. Maybe stick to salt water fish if you cannot identify fresh water fish correctly. This maybe harsh, but you sold me two species with incorrect labelling. Only 3 of the 15 exclamation pt rasboras survived, which is a lot of money... 10 of the 10 chili rasboras I ordered online are thriving and the 3 exclamation pt rasboras are shoaling with them. The receipt said all sales are final which I will accept, but I will no longer shop here.

Out of all the local fish stores I have visited in Ft Myers. This is by far the best one, Rafael is super knowledgeable and takes amazing care of his fish. Rafael has the best stock carrying all the species popular on all the YouTube channels. He also does special orders incase you are looking for a specific fish. Over all awesome customer service. I will definitely be back

One of the best fish stores in the fort myers area! Rafael is one of the nicest store owners and cares more about the quality of fish than any other store. If he doesn’t have a fish you are looking for he can get it for you 10/10 would recommend this place whether you’re just starting out or you’re a season aquarist looking for some good fish at ever better prices. The selection is pretty large and all the tanks are well kept and well fed. The coral selection is great and so is the salt water section. Best store around!

Went here for the first time. Shop is located in a little strip mall. Normal. Spoke with main person who seemed very knowledgeable and definitely friendly. Family fun for parents with young kids in the nature park. (We did not have kids with us). The park was a whole lot bigger than it appeared. There are many animals, birds and reptiles to see. There is also a dinosaur section, a butterfly garden (loved that) and a walk through aviary. The retail shop is pretty amazing and quite huge! There is also a restaurant and a place to take paddle boats out on the water.

  • 4/5 Dina R. 3 years ago on Google
Totally worth the 4...didn't give a 5 due to it still slowly being worked on and changed. However my daughter LOVES the gem mining and carousel there. I always loved just the walk around. However ever since there eliminated most of the attractions you dont have too much to see. BUT mini golfing always is a win. Lots of improvements happening so looking forward to that! But the Holiday section always puts you in a festive spirit.

The Shell Factory was a wonderful experience for this Ohio girl. Beautiful palm trees 🌴🌴 graced the entrance. It was like a little town. There was a shootin' gallery (for fun), a carousel 🎠, a nature park 🏞️, live music. There was even a thrift store.

  • 3/5 Michael Q. 3 years ago on Google
This place seems to be stuck in time. A nice place to bring the kids who will find it fun. They could do a little more cleaning up and manicuring of the facilities.

  • 4/5 Trudy F. 3 years ago on Google
I actually had a really good time here. I took my kids here one weekend just to get out the house and we had a great time in their nature park section. The area was well kept and it was just a low key good time. We ended it with a round of golf. The shell factory store was so expansive and just great to look thru even if you dont buy anything. I had the black cherry icecream in the store and it was so tasty and great way to end a hot day. This is not a ZOO or a theme park so DONT expect that but it's great time to bring the kids and walk around. Look for groupons as we found one for a great deal

  • 5/5 Stephanie E. 3 years ago on Google
The Shell Factory is one of those old tourist attractions that keeps reinventing itself. I am now a grandmother but have been going there since I was first married. Today, I met with a couple of girlfriends (and one husband) to celebrate one of their birthdays. We played a round of mini golf. This is something we had not done in years, and we had a blast! Then we ate outdoors at the restaurant while listening to live music. We wandered around the huge store, bought some fudge, and made a wish list of things we would like to purchase later. We are all locals, have lived here for decades, and don't go there often enough! We are already talking about going back in June for the next birthday in our group so we can go to the Nature Park, do some zip lining, and maybe go fo a ride on the bumper boats. We may play another round of mini golf too! Such fun!

Shell factory is a good gift store or beach decoration store. Nature park is outdated in my opinion. It need some attention. But the idea is good.

  • 1/5 Happy P. 3 years ago on Google
Unfortunately the animal park has gone down a great deal. There were not many animals and exhibits were closed on top of that. The facility is old and in need of some TLC. It was rather expensive, especially compared to the zoo. We paid extra to feed the animals, but at noon on a weekday, the few animals to feed were stuffed and completely uninterested in eating. The poor things had distended bellies and signs asking not to feed them. We couldn’t get any birds or turtles to take any food in the aviary area. It honestly just felt sad. To top it off, the employees in the office area (where you pay) were very crabby and rude. I would recommend the quirky shell factory store, for an experience, but not the nature park. Head to Naples for a zoo experience.

The place is great. I have been there many times. Its great for kids. Staff is great.. mostly. The women in the store however are consistantly rude. They were supposed to give me a refund for the zip line that closes at 5pm but the ticket clearly says dusk. I walked over to get a refund and had the door shut in my face and was told "sorry. Too bad. We are closed. Come tomorrow." Even other staff apoligized for her. The festival that was on until 6pm was still in full swing. I have to eat the 30 dollars because it is not worth the hour and a half drive for the refund. The story should keep the hours of the festival.

We enjoyed being there for what the called Gumbo Fest, but sure was disappointed in the gumbo. That was a little short of what real gumbo should be. Maybe next year they can find one that knows just what GUMBO is supposed to be made of. And more then just three vendors who think they can cook. The one who did the BBQ knew what he was doing.

  • 1/5 Jeffery K. 3 years ago on Google
The Gumbo fest was a huge dissapointment...only 3 venders had gumbo... Not much good Cajun food to pick from...they could do so much better..with better food vendors next year.

We lucked out this time, going at 8am when they opened, and were able to get there before the sun was over the water (which makes it harder to see them). Plenty of manatees and their young hanging out in the warm water. The park is extremely well maintained and most visitors were masked (also why we went at 8am, as we strictly adhere to covid recommendations). We also got to see two painted buntings, which was a treat because they’re so colorful.

Nice place to visit. Nice walking trails along with kayak rentals. If you're looking to see manatees make sure it is the correct weather for them to be in the canal.

Nice little park for a walk. We were so hoping to see manatees but no luck. Next time we'll come earlier and rent a canoe to try our luck again.

We took a kayak tour with Alyssa, and had a great time! We saw many manatees, and learned do much about them. Great place to visit-both for kids and adults.

Amazing experience, go rent kayaks and go search for manatee. We went in February found over 20. To see them stay close to the edge. Lots of cool manatee relate items in gift show. You also have to go to the gift shop to pay for your rental kayaks.

We stopped here with the family for a couple of hours, and we had a great time seeing the Manatees and the various fish hanging out with them. The kids were fascinated with the Manatees, and they had a great time in the play area making new friends. Definitely worth the time to stop in and check the Manatees out.

Walked in and was amazed at all the beautiful plants they had and the gorgeous colors of coral. All the fish from salt to fresh were Very lively and healthy. The owner (I believe) saw my son looking at the big tank with the Arawana in it and she came over to feed the fish to put on a show for my son who loved it! Very knowledgeable And friendly staff. Will definitely be back again!

Past 8 months been buying fish with no problem. 3 weeks ago bought 6 neons and they were all dead in 2 days. Tested the water and it was perfect. No problem with the other fish. Even bought more neons at Petco and everything is fine. Went there today to buy more fish and told him the problem I had. Neons were $2.99 so I asked him if I could have a store credit and let me have 3 tetras at $1.99 for free. He wouldn't give me any credit for the dead fish. First time I ever asked anybody for a credit for dead fish. I was very surprised and told him he won't see me in the store again. He won the battle but lost the war. Lost a good customer over $6. The store is also about 20 miles from our house. He has sick fish and doesn't back them.

This is a great looking store. However, my frustration with this place is that in the last 3 times I've attempted to visit this store, they were closed 2 times (including my attempted visit today). It is just annoying when you travel from the other side of town specifically to visit this store, only to find that the store is closed for some reason. I pass 3 or 4 other pet stores / aquarium stores to get here, and the doors are locked. I have given my money to their competitors multiple times because they can't keep their doors open. I'd much prefer using a store like this, than rely on some highschool dropout at a big box pet supply store to discuss the complex bio-chemical needs of aquarium fish, but I will go to the stores that are open.

We have visited this business many times and the female owner is very friendly and knowledgeable she is always willing to help and give you space to make decisions. The store itself is very spacious and full of beautiful salt water fish , coral and live rock. There are many varieties of coral and ideas to make your aquarium special.

The fish here look to be kept very healthy. The corals look very healthy and they have a nice selection. Tanks are well maintained and the staff always asks if you need help. Also they do have a great selection of dry goods and aquariums. All around pretty good experience. I recommend this store.

What an amazing place. George and staff have been incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and just overall awesome. Being brand new to saltwater aquariums they have been a wealth of knowledge and assistance. If you have any doubts just go in and see how clean, organized and beautiful their store and display tanks are. This says a lot about the care they take and knowledge they have. We really wanted to establish a relationship with a local store as we go through this adventure and incredibly thankful we found Aquarium and Reef Center. Thank you guys for your continued help, advice, patience and outstanding customer service!! Looking forward to many years of business with your team!

Good selection of saltwater and freshwater fish / invertebrates. Coral prices are great for the size of the frag. My only complaint is the visibility of the prices. I don't want to have a staff member following me around just for price checks when they can help other customers who are ready to check out. Will come back again when in the area.

  • 5/5 Brian S. 3 years ago on Google
Excellent all around place. Customer for years and always helpful. Including home help with my 120 gallon tank while recovering from massive surgery over 5+ years ago. In other words great customer service. I must say to this day from over 6 years of experience this family owned business is A++. They spent a month recently on hand and explaining to my 10yr old son the proper steps of his new 60 gallon fresh water tank. My son looks forward as to when we are making our weekly trip. It shows the respect they have for customers of all age and choices of style. Again thanks for making my son's days brighter every time.

For three years this has been my go-to store for livestock, supplies and community. Maintaining a saltwater tank is not cheap or easy BUT with good advice it is an exciting hobby. The owners of this store don't push the quick sell, they do want their customers to succeed because they recognize that's what makes good business. They maintain their tanks, they have excellent staff and they stand by what they sell. They are receptive to feedback and work to address any concerns (above and beyond). This is the place if you are looking to start a tank and learn how to keep it going over the long term.

Lovely store! Easily the best local shop in the area. Staff were eager to help and seemed knowledgeable. All the fish were healthy and the tanks were upkept. Wide selection of tanks and supplies from reputable brands. I do wish the betta section was a bit larger, but all the fish were healthy so I can't complain too much.
