016 was great today. I spent two weeks in Serbia last year and fell in love with the country and especially the food. My girlfriend didn't get to go with me, so I've been trying to introduce her to Serbian cuisine. Good shopska salad, chevapi, and kajmak. We went for lunch with a smaller menu. We will have to come back for dinner. My Serbian is not so good, but I have to say 016 is odlično. Živeli

We found this place by mistake because we couldn't find the Japanese place we were looking for. I didn't know much about Serbian food, but my girlfriend was pretty familiar. When you first walk in, it looks like what I imagine the soup place in Seinfeld resembled, so I figured it had to be good. There were a couple freshly baked loaves and pastries behind the glass cases and there was a baker standing in front. We asked some questions about the menu and were very surprised when he told us we could have a seat. To our surprise, as you walk past the sandwich pick up area, the place opened up into an amazing indoor dining area and an outdoor patio. We chose to eat on the patio. The waitress came to get us. She was extremely helpful with her suggestions and recommendations and each one was perfect. We chose from their specialty cocktails, perfect for the warmer weather. And then I ordered the muffaletta, and she had the burek. Everything was absolutely delicious. The drinks were refreshing and flavorful. The muffaletta was packed full of meat, cheese and flavors and the burek had the best crust and filling I had ever tasted. This was a spectacular introduction to the world of Serbian food. But the only problem is that they may have set the standard too high. This was another top ten eating experience. If you're in Chicago and want more flavors than your face can deal with, head to 016 Sandwich Shop. Be sure to come hungry!!!

Was expecting way more from this place, maybe I need to try more stuff. Ordered burgers which were huge, but taste was so-so. I never understand why some restaurants like this one, when you order to go, they put fries in closed containers and wrap them, so it needs exactly one minute to get all soggy and not really enjoyable to eat. We also ordered fried pepper appetizer, which was outstanding! It was so rich and complex that made me happy. So for sure I will be back, because I see potential in this place. Service was nice. UPDATED: Came back to 016 and was ready to try other stuff. Started with fried pepper appetizer and it was even better this time, super good kick and crisp, I just love this dish.. For entrees we had Chevapi, Braised Veal and sarma. Chevapi were on the spot, Sarma wasn't the best, great presentation tho. The Braised Veal was fantastic, meat was so tender, the wine sauce was outstanding and potatoes were cooked perfectly, such a great dish! Service was excellent. I changed my mind and I'm really satisfied with this restaurant presenting Serbian cuisine.

Wow! It was SO good. This was my first experience with Serbian food and I was a bit nervous. I'm used to eating American, Asian, and Latin food. Catch my feel? But....everything we ordered was so good! The meat was soft and almost brisket like, the polenta was flavorful. The cabbage roll was surprisingly good!! The burek was to die for (try both!). The restaurant is very clean and has quiet music playing. I will return without a doubt.

Great food and service. The sandwich was huge enough to feed two people! It was a little bit too salty but I guess because it was loaded with meat!

My mom and I stumbled upon this restaurant and took a chance! We're so glad we did. Every dish was packed full of flavor and harmony. You can tell the love and care they put into all their dishes! The service was incredible and very helpful for navigating the menu and specials. We ended up getting braised lamb with potatoes, and stuffed cabbage with sauerkraut. As well as the best house salad with the most incredible dill dressing! Will be returning!

Their south rail is a triple style hotdog which has great snap and super savory flavor complimented with crunchy slaw and coarse mustard on itallian sub (crunchy & soft). Excellent flavor and super helpful and friendly staff!

Such a great meal! The interior is clean, neatly organized, with a green wall and paintings to set the mood. There's also a patio. The music in the background is chill and matches the mood. The service is excellent and accommodating. I had Chievapi and the Roasted chicken! the Chievapi is delicious and juicy. the Roasted chicken tho!! what a perfect dish! The chicken is smokey, but super juicy and tender, the outside os very crispy, it's an aromatic flavor bomb. The chicken comes with a potato salad and pickled vegies and a corn bread. the corn break is pan toasted so it's crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. The texture is closer to a southern biscuit, which I love, than a crumbly corn bread. The potato salad has a good tanginess which balances out the smokey flavor of the chicken. The pickles vegies are more neutral in flavor so it doesn't feel too busy. over all, I would recommend everyone try this dish at least once. Definitely will be back to try other things 🤤

Amazing dinner! The food here is incredible! I never had Serbian cuisine before this, but if it's all like this, I have been snoozing! I recommend the braised short ribs if you are going for the first time. Start with the beef burek if you're with a group of 4 or more. Drinks and dessert are good too. Seriously, stop thinking about it, and go have dinner!

Incredible experience. Beautiful atmosphere with the outdoor patio and some of the most gracious servers. I’m not Serbian but absolutely loved the food at this location. Everything was impeccable and loaded with flavor. We tried the burrata salad (fresh organic tomatoes and smoked beef), veal soup (taste like grandma made it with all the love in the world), roast chicken dish, and and the Braised veal (with potatoes and carrots). Everything had us licking our fingers. I can’t wait to be back to try other dishes. They have my full trust when it comes to their menu. I’m so glad my husband and I stumbled upon this place. We will for sure be back. 10 out of 10 experience. ❤️

My husband and I went for dinner and loved our experience. It was our first time trying Serbian food and we weren't sure what to expect so went with some dishes that were recommended. We started with a cocktail called Dama, which was very unique and had a good flavor. They bring you some fresh baked bread with garlic butter that's excellent. For mains, we had the veal with potatoes and the beef Burek, and both dishes were very flavorful. Definitely recommend.

My son and daughter-in-law brought us to 016 last night for dinner. One of my daughter-in-law’s co-workers recommended we try it. I cannot remember the last time I enjoyed a meal so much! None of us had ever eaten Serbian food before, and we were not disappointed! The atmosphere was very inviting, the server was attentive, friendly, and helpful when we asked for recommendations. We were all hungry, and dove right into the fresh warm, fluffy bread when it arrived at our table. We ate every single piece, and then there was more! We started our meal with the Meza Platter. The presentation was beautiful, and the meats and cheeses were all very flavorful. We also tried the fried peppers and cucumber and tomato salad which were also fresh and delicious! Each of us tried a different entree, chicken, veal, lamb, and the sausage), none of us were disappointed! Everyone shared bites, so I tasted a little of everything. It was all delicious, and the presentations of each were beautiful. I know we will all be back! I only wish my husband and I lived here, so we could come more often! Thank you for a fine meal, a new culinary experience, and a new family memory.

We had dinner and loved everything we ordered - corn bread, sampler platter, and spinach and cheese burek, along with a couple of cocktails. There was so much food, the sampler platter is such a generous portion, both a good value and just delicious in its own right. Our server was very attentive and so welcoming! We will definitely be back, definitely want to give their sandwiches a try as well.

016 is amazing. Apps: corn bread and fried smelts = absolutely delicious. Pork stew was the best comfort food you could ask for, and the burgers are huge and delicious. Serbian Cabernet was also delicious. Our first experience with Serbian food, and we will be back soon!

Food so delicious and freshly made. The ambience and music so pleasant. The owners and the staff always so nice, friendly, lovely with all guests. You can tell that they really enjoy making their guests happy while they are eating amazing recipes from Leskovac, Serbia! Such good people!

Servers were attentive, ambience were great sitting outside. I had spent a few weeks in Serbia and the food here reminds me of being back there! We had the fried smelts, which was amazing, the grilled chicken was wonderful and sourced from local farm and you can taste the freshness, lastly, we had the pork stew which tasted great! We also had wines to go with our meals. Definitely will be back here again!

Wow!! Service was excellent!!! Food excellent!!! We ordered Burek everything spice which was like an everything bagel and croissant in one! So soft warm and delicious!! Muffuletta which was like hardy deli sandwich with house made sandwich bread!!! Super fresh and soft!! Also the South rail which was like 3 skinny sausages on cabbage and a mild mustard sauce! I’m not food expert lol but it was so good!!! Don’t forget to try the Modena Lemon drop drink! Apparently it’s a Serbian classic that you can’t find anywhere else, super smooth!

We dined here after getting a recommendation from an employee working at the Embassy Suites. We drove from downtown Chicago to experience the Serbian cuisine. 016 did not disappoint!! We each had something different from the menu: Ground Beef Burek (meat pie-my favorite), Chicken Schnitzel (Karadjordjeva), Chicken Soup, Charcuterie, Cheese and Spinach Burek, and a Sausage Sandwich. SUPERB! We also ordered dessert, the custard chocolate cake was wonderful, and the baklava was not too sickly sweet. The entire experience was wonderful including the excellent wait staff and vibe. We can't wait to return in the summer to enjoy the outside patio when we visit the Chicago area again!

The food is absolutely incredible. The meal ranks among the best I've ever eaten. Highly recommend. Additionally, the staff are so sweet and helpful. I can't recommend this place enough. We had the veal soup, beef burek, chievapi, and braised veal dish. They also serve bread with house made garlic butter. So good.

The Sarma was absolutely delicious - packed with flavor and so satisfying. The cevapi were also good, but the Sarma was just a standout dish. My husband and I generally have good appetites but we couldn't finish the cevapi - we probably shouldn't have finished the Sarma but we couldn't help ourselves. Definitely check this place out! The vibe is laid-back and family friendly.

An incredibly delightful experience from start to finish. The amazing food was surpassed only by the even better service. One of my favorite meals in Chicago. The stuffed cabbage and grilled calf livers are not to be missed. Our server was beyond friendly and knew the menu so well...she was a tremendous help. Such a gem

Awesome food and dining experience. What a treasure! If you’re visiting Chicago you must make the effort to enjoy the food here. It’s so good I might move here or visit more often. Hats off to the talented chef and owner.

I used to frequent this restaurant a few years back when I live in the neighborhood and the food was great! I wasn't aware of the change of ownership. Wish I had taken photos of our take out. We had cevapi (which were exceedingly chunky and flavorless) and the bread was stale. The hamburger was not good, lacked flavor, and came on the same stale bread. The salad was alright but the cucumbers were not crisp, very floppy. The chicken sandwich was good. Not knowing that the cevapi were going to be a fail, we ordered some raw ones to take home but that was a huge mistake. They were all brown and obviously old. Raw fresh meat is red/pink !! Not brown! It was very disappointing to have spent all this money only to throw it in the trash. Quality control should be a restaurants main priority.

Ten out of ten experience. The food was a fabulous taste explosion. Believe it or not we got the Hombre and Bologna sandwiches. Unbelievable. If you’re a foodie, you must try this amazing Serbian restaurant. <3

Awesome restaurant with authentic Serbian food. Per my opinion, the best representation of Serbian cuisine in Chicago. The staff is very friendly and pleasant! Everything we tried was amazing and tasted like the homemade meal. All recommendations for this little gem 💎

This place has taken the very best of Serbian cuisine and fused it with delicious American lunch options. We've been there before for the dinner menu which is also deeelish! Note: The large side-street patio is now open during these warmer months and a great place to enjoy a bottle of Lav Serbian lager. Would highly recommend for dine-in or take-out!
