I love this place! I started work planted tanks about 20 years ago and I must say that this store is one of the reasons. The beautiful displays there are breath taking and the selection of plants are awesome! The owner is not only knowledgeable but shares it with those that are both beginners and veterans. I definitely think this is the place that all freshwater planted tank owners should visit!

The owner is helpful and has really great fish, plants, wood and substrate for small aquariums. Visit often enough and you'll end up with multiple tanks 😆 Below: My Before & After redesigned tank

What a hidden gem!!! I love this place and never want to leave. There are so many beautiful tanks and bio worlds. It's like they transport you to a new world. I need to make room for more aquariums and then stock up from here. Many plants for aquariums, bogs and terrariums. Everything is maintained especially well and they have many young fish which I love. Then you get so see them grow up.

Awesome fish store! The selection of hardscape and plants is the best I've seen. The owner is clearly passionate and knowledgeable about fish-keeping. I love looking at the meticulously-crafted display tanks, and the fish species they stock include some rarer ones like sparkling gouramis, scarlet badis, and celestial pearl danios.

My b/f has been going here for quite some time, even when Toru was on Santa Monica. It's our go-to aquarium store, even tho we live in Lincoln Heights.

I came here to see if they had hard scape materials for a planted tank I'm starting and...WOW. There was everything I could imagine. Tons of rock and wood selections that I couldn't dream of at other stores. In addition, There were forests of planted tanks and some terrariums as well. So many plants! The fish tanks were well kept with plenty of variety. The owner ( Watanabe-san) was so helpful and friendly. I will be back soon for more! Thank you!

The store has equipments that most other aquarium stores don’t have in LA, but most item are overpriced and u can find them online for cheaper.

This should be one of your staple stores if you are a nature aquarium enthusiast. They have the highest quality freshwater fish and plants in the Los Angeles area, and the fish stocks get replenished every week or so.

Beautiful and inspiring shop! I bought all the basics to make my own little moss scape, and I love it already. The owner explained everything i needed and kept it simple and fun. So helpful. I hope I will make the owner proud!

Store has a very nice selection of nano fish. I bought seven fish I was quarantining them in cycled tank and lost four of them over 3 days. The fish seemed rather young and when I asked the owner if they were hearty he assured me that they were. They seemed healthy so I'm not sure if I just needed to acclimate them extra slowly but a loss of over 50% is pretty painful. I'll probably give the store another try and be extra careful with acclimating the fish because they do have a very nice selection which is hard to find.

Beautiful shop with a great selection of nano aquarium compatible species of fish and plants. Exposition tanks are remarkable! Unfortunately the limited space forces the owners to resort to sub-optimal selling practices: fish are up for sale on the very day they get delivered and don't get the proper acclimation time. If sold the same day they have to adapt to new water condition twice the same day. Once when getting to the shop and once in your tank. Another consequence of this is that sick and parasite ridden animals don't die at the shop but make it straight to your tank. The last batch I got there was very disappointing with 5 dead the first week out of 7 fish. That's 40+ dollars down the drain despite really perfect water parameters and otherwise healthy occupants.

One of the best fish stores I've seen. Caters more towards aqua scaping than fish but that's what I went for.

Awesome aquascaping store! One of the very few places that carries the ADA line. They also have UNS and a few other brands. They have a nice selection of tissue cultures in stock usually and a good selection of emeresed potted plants. Hardscape wise they have a decent selection of stones and driftwood. The live stock selection here is solid, all kinds of nano and community fish for planted tanks. Highly recommend anyone in the planted tank hobby make a visit, definitely worth the visit.

Purchased a school of endlers here and after almost a year they are thriving and look great. This store seems to be more for the intermediate/advanced fish keeper who knows exactly what they want and what they are doing. Every time I call or go in and purchase something I always get good customer service. This isn't petco so keep that in mind...you're not going to be greeted by 5 different people before you figure out what you want. All the tanks had healthy swimming happy fish, no dead fish in the tank (petco/petsmart). Just go in when you have a cycled tank and do your research on what you want/need before you go.

I purchased a fish about a week ago, Butterfly loach! Mind you, my tank was in healthy condition. I noticed the loach acting odd (it keeped rolling its self) as if it wanted to get something off of it. Now I'm noticing white pimple spots. My whole tank is compromised! Ima go back and see his response soon. First time buyer for this store.

Started a new tank for shrimp. Got an ADA rimless tank, hardscape, moss and ferns, and some gravel at a good price. 1 week later, the plants are thriving! Moss turned a bit brown at the start but now are growing like crazy. Java ferns are deep green and doing great. Definitely coming back.

This is a serious Aquascaping store! Aquascaping is an art that originated in Japan and requires specific materials. This store is like visiting Japan.

This is THE place to shop if you're a planted tank enthusiast. Toru-San is an Aqua Design Amano storefront, which means he has a plant selection second to none. The stock is all healthy, skewing toward plant-friendly species. You'll pay a little more, but it's worth the price to get this sort of quality.

Love this place. The owner is super-helpful and super-knowledgeable. The fish and snails here are top notch (every single one that I have purchased over the past 12 months is thriving); the plants are healthy; the prices are very reasonable; the advice is always good. Totally worth the drive for quality.

Great selection of rare nano fish and nano tank accessories. It seems every piece of wood hardscape was hand selected. Tanks and setups are gorgeous. Extremely polite and helpful.

First time going today , just needed some new plants, driftwood , and maybe a few fish . This guy has a nice looking store and thing but he really needs to work on his friendliness. This is the first fish store I’ve been to where the guy working there told me to go to petco , he had a really bad attitude. He was trying to sell me things I already had and told me I didn’t have what I needed and also said I didn’t know anything . 100% there are a lot of other places to go in Los Angeles do I RECOMMEND NOT GOING HERE . He will waste your time if you don’t know exactly what you want . He won’t even have patience for someone who wants to take time picking out things.

11/10 Amazing shop and owner - The owner is a super sweet man, really helpful in giving you advice on what you need for your aquarium. He had the chance to sell me some sand that I thought I needed, but he told me to put it back. He is genuinely passionate about his aquariums and I plan on getting all the supplies I need from him.

Warning TO Keep your receipts. Not the friendliest way to run a business when you purchase water filter, hose and plump. The. The hose didn’t fit, and I ask to exchange for something- $8.50 I wasn’t asking for the money back. I am sad, my needs were not meet. I can’t say the owners needs were meet either since he lost a costumer. Too bad for the local small business back to the larger more efficient ones. Anyone want to buy a standard airline tubing $8.50 best offer or plant or rock something for my grandson’s fishes ??

I buy my fish food, aquarium supplies, and aquatic plants here. The owner is always so knowledgeable and friendly. I was impressed when he remembered specific conversations he and my boyfriend had had years earlier. His aquascaping tanks are works of art and worth checking out!
