Bad experience & blood wasn't donated. They are not well organized & didn't explain that no matter how long you have to wait, platelet donors go first. What's the point of making an appointment if they can't take the blood. Was there 45 mins & was told there were 3 more platelet donors coming in. Wasted my time, my effort & more importantly, their opportunity to have another pint of blood. Very frustrated & discouraged. Wouldn't return there.

I am really excited and happy to give blood. Everybody very friendly. Quick service.Good cleaning place. First they took a covid rapid test its for all and its really good for the safety issue. Then the welcome desk lady really good and friendly. The each and every persone really friendly and smile face , thats the good thing for me. They give us lots of juice , chips, cookis. Its really satisfied me to do this . 💚

Not the best experience I've had donating blood to NYBC. I've been donating over 10 years and this was my first time at Lake Success location. Some staff were pleasant, some not. I had to report one young man (long hair, pony tail, glasses) because he scoffed at me when I sat facing him so I can look straight - I have a neck injury. Woman who drew my blood (short, Spanish) barely looked at me or spoke to me, even when I asked her questions and tried to engage her. Very unwelcoming. Never asked if I was comfortable, and left my shoulder elevated on the armrest - she wasn't friendly so I didn't bother asking her to adjust it. Called for directions, kept being told "across from Party City" meanwhile it's two entire traffic lights north. And the donor bathroom was disgusting, like a fast food restaurant. I got there at 12noon, there's just no way it got so dirty from that morning. It must have not been cleaned for days, meanwhile the staff bathroom was immaculate (the door was open and I looked inside). I usually go to Manhattan to donate and will do so going forward. At Lake Success some staff aren't as welcoming and kind as they should be and it's filthy. 2-stars for easy parking and few friendly staff.

Great people except for one. I gave blood today (5/22/20) and was told by a technician to immediately go home and shower because people were donating plasma. After freaking out on the way home, I called the NY Blood Center 800 number. I was told that donating at a blood center is as safe as going to the grocery store if you take the normal precautions and he was wrong. I am so angry at this technician for freaking me out. Overall, great staff and I'll come back to donate here again.

It was my first experience with this location and was positive from beginning to end. From the greeting I received from the individual at the from desk to the RN Cherisse who took care of me to the Nurse Manager Audrey. I had an 8:15 appointment and waited 5mins to get on the laptop to register then taken right in to start with routine blood pressure, etc. I was ready to leave at 9:15. They were very efficient, professional and caring

I've been a blood donor for almost 10 years, and this is the most consistent place for me. I'm a notoriously hard stick but there is always someone working who knows their way with a needle (even if it does need to go in at a weird angle). Everyone is always helpful and the place is clean. I usually make an appointment the day before but they allow walk-ins.

The staffs are nice and courteous and the environment very clean, but the guy who drew my blood made a very painful insert. I told him it hurts a lot, he commented that I have small veins and this is a big needle.i have donated blood before and never hurt this bad. He scraped a good chunk of flesh.

HORRIBLE WASTE OF TIME. After receiving multiple texts about the need to donate my o blood, I unexpectedly had time between errands. I went online from my phone and found time at 11:30 am. After being told I was next and half an hour of waiting, I found that I was skipped 4 times when people that came after me without an appointment were already seated and donating. The staff member, a grey haired man, forgot all about me. After the phlebotomist advised that the process would take another 30 minutes that I do not have. I had to go home and cook to feed my daughter. There are no apologies offered. Has it been forgotten that we are donating time and our blood? It was a very disappointing day. AVOID AVOID AND AVOID THIS PLACE. It has gone downhill. The waiting area was also poorly managed with NO SOCIAL DISTANCING and the front desk guy was missing for a period of time that the phlebotomist asked me where he was before asking me if I was next!

Fine staff. Comfortable atmosphere. HOWEVER, regardless of the demand for blood, after many requests to be removed from contacting me via telephone, they have been totally ignored.

Donated platelets here but they must have done something when inserting the needle because my arm blew up like a balloon and was bruised from my bicep to my wrist. It was like this for weeks.

I don’t write reviews but I had to for this place, it is amazing. I’ve been there I don’t even know how many times and every time is an amazing experience. They have the absolute friendliest and most personable staff, great service and sometimes they have Girl Scout cookies. The only issue I ever had was a machine wasn’t working properly so I had to be stuck in both arms but that was no one’s fault and they were great and apologetic about it. I donated platelets for the first time today and Judy was the exact person you wanted to have help you. 10 out of 10 let them have your blood 🤩
