A nice glimpse into the past. The Insane Asylum had to be horrific.

Deeply depressing place to visit. It makes you face the reality of the disgusting past (and sometimes present) of how the β€œinsane” were treated. It is located behind a police station, which can be off putting, but they did not bother us.

My mom worked at the old state hospital in the late 60s and early 70s creepiest place ever ! I was little then and it scared me so much to go there with her that I would start crying when I got there and I've been followed by spirits ever since then

Well kept, surrounded by black walnut and hornbean trees. Seems pretty full, mostly surface markers with 'M' or 'F' and numbers on concrete bricks.

Drove a co-worker past it. Was followed back out to Broad Street by a State/City car (It had State/City tags) and the back of my vehicle’s photo taken with a cell phone.

It's a lot of fun here! A little spooky because it's a little haunted.

I would to visit this place and say hello. To these people that were used as lab rats to experiments. Some of these people didn't have a mental illness. I found the true history about the Hospital that they tore down and it's not far from the two cemeteries. I've been to so many cemeteries I just haven't been to these yet. I see people on YouTube visiting abandoned asylum in the dark and getting attack. But I would go in the daytime. I want to go visit the man who died in his house and before he died he built the same house upside 20 ft in the ground and his real house is on top. His house is in German Village and almost every Halloween people take tours and visit his house. Question: Why do people touch stuff when they walk in places ? In the 7th grade I took a class field trip to George Washington's house and it was haunted and there was this mirror on the wall in the dining room and I saw a black ghost and she was one of George Washington's house maid but the tour guide said, " I don't see anyone coming down the stairs ? " Jesus was showing me. Also George Washington also had Slave Shacks and there was a path way and I was about to go down that path until a white woman said to me " Excuse Me, Where are you going ? " I said , " Down that path and won't you come with me ? " She was too scared to go because they were all haunted. I wonder if their are Indians buried too.

Yes, Whitney, the Insane Cemetery is a real place. Between the Insane Cemetery and the Feebleminded Cemetery, lies the outfit dedicated to filling those two cemeteries and more. Around town right now, you can find billboards that proclaim, "Treatment Works." While we are told psychiatric disorders have "no cure," the drugs and electric shock DO "work"; they accomplish their intended result: making people feebleminded (zombies) and insane (suicidal/homicidal). People can be assisted to Succumb, or assisted to Survive (flourish and prosper); it depends on how you define, "Help." Go stand around the downtown office at Long & High for a while, and you can see for yourself the results of that brand of "help." Did you see, "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest?"
