Sad to write this but wish I would have been able to see reviews like this prior to hiring Great Lakes Asphalt. We spoke to Glenn in 2021 about our driveway which was in rough shape. He recommended a recap and we decided to go with him based on his positive reviews. First off, the crew he uses is a subcontractor--or at the very least does not operate under "Great Lakes Asphalt". Their trucks say a different company name. Glenn is the owner of Great Lakes Asphalt, but does not do or oversee the job himself. The day after they did the recap, it rained and our garage flooded about 4' in with sitting water--they had messed up the grade into the garage. We immediately called and while Glenn was responsive, he was too busy to fix it as he was short staffed. We discussed a trenching option with him, bought the trenches on our own dime and he agreed to install them when he had time. Over a year later his crew finally came and they said they've done these "so many times" and were confident they could install it. We sent Glenn as well as the crew the instructions for proper installation of the trench system. They hand cut the line for the trench, leading to it being crooked in areas when it would have been absurdly easy to lay a board down as a guide to cut a straight line. They then pounded the trench in unevenly, didn't even fully connect the trenching system in many areas, did not follow the instructions for the ground prep underneath the trench, did not glue/seal the trenching system together in any way, and finally poured pea gravel in the excess space around the trench. Unbelievable disregard for the proper installation as now when it rains, water travels into the pea gravel and is now exposing the slab to even more water. This is even worse than flooding into the garage. While Glenn did offer to come back again, after an incorrect initial job and a half-effort fix we have zero confidence that the crew has any idea how to do this work and declined further '"fixes". Despite having zero experience in this area, we feel more confident that we can follow the directions for installing the trench and get it done properly than trusting Glenn and his crew to do anything on our property again. Additionally, after just over a year since the initial job we already have multiple cracks appearing. The final kicker is that our next door neighbors are now having their driveway completely redone and the very knowledgable and competent crew let us know that our driveway should never have been recapped (should have been a full removal and replacement) and was recapped with subpar asphalt that their company would never use professionally. Perhaps Great Lakes Asphalt used to do good work but this is not a company worthy of your time or money. Would not hire or recommend Great Lakes Asphalt to anyone.

Glenn was very responsive through email with me which I appreciate a ton because I am not the best with phone calls. He also was very patient with me when it came to questions! The price he gave was the best I could find in the area and his work crew was very professional and friendly. They just got done with our driveway today and it looks fantastic! The best asphalt paving and sealcoating company is truly Great Lakes! What a truly wonderful experience! Removal, preparation, and paving were carried out quickly and expertly. The work this crew did to resurface our two parking lots was fantastic.

COMPLETE RIP-OFF!! PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK! I contacted Glen in late-February for some asphalt work on our drive, and after a half-dozen phone calls, we arrived at a price along with an approximate date. When I hadn't heard from him to arrange for the 50% down payment 2 weeks prior to the job, I called him. He told me he could NOT do the job for the quote he gave, but COULD do it for nearly double the price!!! Glen is either dishonest, or doesn't know how to bid a job. Think twice before having him do your asphalt job.

I did NOT know that asphalt could be anything other than sealed. We never gave any thought to having to resurface. Our driveway looks so good now I must admit to getting a bit annoyed when somebody dares to drive on it!

One star is so much for you honestly. I am extremely disappointed with the service provided by this asphalt seal coating company. I had high hopes for a professional and timely job, but unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Firstly, their customer service was unprofessional and lacked basic courtesy. Trying to get a hold of them was a nightmare; they rarely returned my calls, and when they did, they seemed disinterested and unresponsive to my concerns. To make matters worse, they kept delaying the appointment for the job. They provided excuse after excuse, making me feel like my project was not a priority to them. It became evident that they did not value my time or my business. As a result of their constant delays, my pavement suffered further damage, and I had to deal with inconveniences caused by the deteriorating condition of my driveway. I had hoped for a seamless experience with a company that prides itself on professionalism and efficiency, but unfortunately, this company failed to deliver on both counts. I strongly advise against using this asphalt seal coating company. Save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere for a reliable and reputable service that values its customers and delivers on its promises.

I would highly recommend Great Lakes I had two very positive experiences with them. Both times the workers and owner were very professional and courteous. Glen went above and beyond this year to make sure I was happy with the final outcome and always so prompt in getting back with me via text or calling.

They were accommodating to our company schedule, responsive, and professional, causing the least amount of inconvenience to our staff and incoming clients. They are sincere, diligent people trying their utmost to satisfy your paving needs and keep expenses fair.

Would NOT recommend. The paving they did has lines from the edge of the roller. This creates ridges to impede water run off. The surface is NOT flat. There is many puddles as a result. The fix they did where there was a very large puddle was to chisel out asphalt from the puddle to the edge (like a trench). Glenn was to return in the Spring to fix the work, but confused me multiple times with someone else. His crew was dispatched without notice and while on site, informed me the repair work they were about to do would make my pavement look worse. After my attorney contacted Glenn, it sounded like he would correct the work. However, he would not stand behind any repair he would be doing. He did not answer direct questions. Appears I will have to hire another company to address and take legal action to recoup the cost.

It's a pleasure to work with these individuals because they are so thorough. They won't quit until the project is finished completely. They were truly amazing! Great Lakes Asphalt installed our new driveway for us.

They did a fantastic job on our driveway and Glenn was very helpful squeezing us into his schedule. All the cracks were filled and there wasn't one drop of sealer on the concrete by the sidewalk or garage door. Highly recommend this company!

We were tired of seal coating or old asphalt driveway. We called in Great Lakes to do a complete refresh and give it a new look. They put down two coats of chip asphalt over the existing surface and it looks beautiful. My driveway looks like a country road it's awesome.

I will suggest Great Lakes Asphalt to anyone in the future who requires their services. These guys are really easy to work with and genuinely know what they're doing. I am quite pleased with the outcomes. They managed our challenging drive, which has many twists and entrances, with ease.

This company 's price was by far the lowest out of 3 quotes received for my job. They did great work patching the potholes in our parking lot. I will be calling them again when I need more done, and I recommend this company highly.
