Bybee Lakes Hope Center

Homeless service

😠 Nightmare of a place. I was separated from my husband for "safety reasons" and my child and I was scared without him. Everyone had that "jail mentality", I felt like I was in an episode of 60 days in since I was one of them rare homeless people who are actually sober and with no record. The bathroom... People often mention staff, people, housing, program, training, life, trauma, homeless, services,

Nightmare of a place. I was separated from my husband for "safety reasons" and my child and I was scared without him. Everyone had that "jail mentality", I felt like I was in an episode of 60 days in since I was one of them rare homeless people who are actually sober and with no record. The bathrooms were dirty and no one took part in chore but a few as if it were the requirements. No dinner since someone didn't do the dishes after they cooked which was an awful excuse not to have food. The women had "rabidness" in there eyes. The only people who actually content here are people who are content in being just a number. I moved to a different facility to better ourselves and our futures. I am in a better spot with our own room and kitchen for 75 a month better than 250 to go literal JAIL.

One of the most amazing shelters/ transitional housing programs I have ever experienced. I definitely recommend this place for anyone homeless and looking for a hand up not a hand out. Amazing RA's and beautiful facility.

I have been at bybee lakes hope center for seven months. I have had nothing but a good experience with staff and other residents. Is it for everybody? No it is not for anyone that gets high or drinks and does not want to be accountable for poor behavior. I found a safe place to remain sober, a place to live and learn how to integrate back into the community and a whole life again. I love this place and everyone in it. Those that don't make it here are just not ready to do whatever it takes to change their lives for the better. I feel bad every time anybody is asked to leave but it's easy to get along here and I'm incredibly greatful to Alan Evans and Sarah Moffitt and the rest of the staff here at the Hope Center.

Bybee lakes should not get funding unless the entire program gets redesigned with checks in place . Staff need to undergo diversity and trauma training as well as ADA training. Staff are 99 % prior/current participants with zero qualifications and are unprofessional. After losing housing in Arizona due to COVID my family came to Portland with hopes of better help through state COVID laws. Unfortunately due to lack of affordable housing we found shelter at Bybee Lakes. They were not prepared for non-traditional families, ADA requirements or homelessness due to COVID. We were retaliated against for asking questions, suggesting improvements, being educated, and asserting our rights within ADA law. It was a traumatic experience for our family. Luckily our our housing came through with help from Rosehaven and Greater Good Northwest. We are a thriving family once again. Funding should go to programs like Rose Haven and Greater Good Northwest that staff educated trauma informed caring professionals. These programs make a difference. Bybee lakes keeps people in poverty and makes them reliant on their β€œprogram” in order to profit. This is not a shelter after four days. You have to begin paying to stay. Where is the money going???

They are absolutely the best shelter program that I've encountered. It has a level has freedom within the facilities that allows you to be separated from most of society with the option to prosper and get your priorities handled. With great classes and staff members, this is hands down one of the best shelters

Hello, I've been a participant at Bybee Lakes Hope Center. I don't believe they should get funding until they have trauma training, diversity training for African Americans community, Domestic Violence training and training to assist mother/babies' section better. Since I've been here there hasn't been a clear explanation of the program, some participants that are paid staff harassing people, they get mad if your report situations, some stuff use racial micro aggression verbiage, personally I feel retaliated against for reporting unprofessional and etc. I have spoken with the CEO Mike Davis and it was like I'm bothering him( the meeting was with two others participants that had concerns). If they do receive funds, it should be training staff with trauma since place is a trauma informed program. They share information on how to inform administrators about concerns or grievances; the change of command when they speak to staff and not being heard. I was told on audio and with other participants that the staff do need training and when they get funds, they will hire a consultant. I do have emails and approved audio because I don't trust the way staff handle things. I have two witnesses of an aggressive transwomen triggering by following me after I ask her to stop speaking to me and give me space and lying on the walkie as if I attack her, I wasn't nowhere her(she did a Karen move) 5 staff came up ready to attack me. I'm a DV participate and a lot of the staff unprofessionalism is triggering to me. This place really is designed for severe homelessness, drug abuse and overall substance abuse; not for women with kids or domestic violence. People be drinking and doing drug still in the facility; one overdose two weeks ago! This lady continually gotten beat on and staff never said a word when they’re mandatory reports.

The staff and workers here are the best. I couldn't be more pleased to be inside a place in my life for me to do the work I need to do so as to NOT die by slipping through the cracks.

Bybee lake saved my life It would be tragic to shut it down.. I lived there for a year and a half..after being homeless on and off since my husband died in 2003. Now I have my a beautiful home and I am back to work.. Not only did I get a safe, comfortable place to be able to lay my head down every night. But I found out that I'm Resilient and I am enough. There is no way it is like a homeless shelter. It is a way to reclaim your life. You are a human being and you are allowed to work and have a home. I can't say enough for bybee lake, other than they helped me to love myself.. and get back into Society.. Sincerely Kristen nelson

It's a Trauma-Informed Care facility. If you plan to use drugs in or out, engage in relationships, stalk, harass or assault anybody here, don't come, because you are going to be held accountable for your actions. This place saves the lives of who want to be saved. It protects anybody and advocates against anything that is damaging them as people, providing that you speak up about your needs. The rest, it's gossip. You can pay attention to it or to what's important to you. Most importantly, ask your own questions to get your own answers. The administration is transparent about their capabilities, no matter the topic of your inquiry.

Amazing place for struggling families. We did not take advantage of their services because we have already used many similar services, and my husband would not have been able to continue school at PSU while part of their program. Also, families are separated by gender, no allowed to house together.

Everyone always has something to say negative... but I hands down love this place ... and I pray to God he keeps me here. Weather it be for the rest of my life. I feel at home. I have a shoulder to cry on, a pillow to rest my head and food to eat anytime day or night. Thank you to the founder and people who dedicated time to build hope and love into this place. ❀️ Brandy Howe

I was a participant at the place and a handful of people concocted a lie about me and I was told to leave. I'm fine but others who have been thrown out with lies aren't. One such person was so depressed that she may have completed suicide, probably did. This place is a high school where the popular kids get to stay and the unpopular kids are evicted--fact--and thrown out in the streets. Besides that, the staff have no clue as to investigate. I was in phase two towards becoming a cop so I know this. No cause evictions save for lies which pass for truth.

Worst family shelter I have ever been in. They don't know how to deal with people who have trauma. They refused to offer any help. They kick you out for giving people advice on where to get help with their issues when they dont know where to send them but one of their trauma residents do. So they kick me out for giving advice on where someone can get the help they need

Everyone that has had a bad experience here has made that experience bad by themselves. You get what you put into this program. If you do nothing you will get nothing. They have the resources but you must look for them and seek them. The staff is wonderful and knowledgeable. You are free to come and go as you please but there are rules to follow for the safety of all the people living here.

This place is visionary! If every town in America did what Mr. S. Did everything would be better. Remarkable program that helps everyone.

Been staying here for almost 2 months, still going threw and seeing how they can help me with the services and assistance I need and am looking for, but as far as how they place, house and feed the homeless that come here is exceptional to what these people are used to. Hopefully I can get the services for what I need to find and obtain secure housing and employment as well as life skills to navigate threw my obstacles in my life and contribute back to them for how they have assisted me if I continue to decide to use their services. 5 star rating on hold 😎
