Houston Grand Opera

Performing arts theater Opera company

👍👍 I like to think the Houston Grand Opera for the wonderful job they do in Houston; beginning with the programs, the orquesta, the singers and the staff who makes it all happen. I also like to send a special thanks to the manager who help me organize my season tickets; I purchased them from a company... People often mention great,

I also like to send a special thanks to the manager who help me organize my season tickets; I purchased them from a company and I was told that I can use them any day, but it was not the case. Thanks to Marc Alba for helping me to organize my tickets so I could enjoy the events. Looking forward to next season because I wi be bringing my church choir sometime in December.

Second time down here and both performances were exquisite. Both were Mozart and the intersection of technical precision, tasteful artistry, and stunning visuals made these productions some of the finest I’ve seen in the country. We’ll be back as often as our schedule allows it!

Great experience and show of Romeo & Juliet. I loved it all. What may have helped were more ushers around to direct people where to find the theater, but aside from that it was great. I can't wait to see my next show!

It was a lot of fun, the acoustics are great. The signing is beautiful. The value for the money was excellent.

We saw Turandot. It was our first Opera. Won't be our last. It was great. Finding our seats was confusing. Some signage would have been helpful, however, since I looked very lost, a nice man helped us figure it out.

great performance. can't wait till January to see Mozart's Ke Nozze de Figaro. A three hour opera but we'll worth it.

HGO has always put on fantastic productions and this season has been no different. While I was only able to make it to Turandot and The Magic Flute, they were exceptional and raised my praise even higher for the overall quality of HGO. Recommend attending the pre-show lecture to find out the fascinating history of the opera as well as learning a few key points to look for in the production itself. Bravi tutti!

Houston Grand Opera is back at the Wortham! Balcony is the best (and most reasonably priced) seating. You still have an amazing view. And it's better than the grand tier because the ceiling is lower in the grand tier which partially ruins the "grand"-feel of the show. It's also better than orchestra seating because of the viewing angle; you can see the whole stage better (less obstruction from those seating in front of you). And lastly, you can see the orchestra :) One complaint is that it's freezing in there. I'm used to theatres being cold, but this had to be 40-50 degrees. Maybe it's colder higher up?

I always love Operas!! The show I went to was a bit subpar, but nonetheless I enjoyed my time.

The Phoenix was an amazing new opera. Thomas Hampson in the lead role blew away a lot of the audience. Quite why the theatre was not packed full I have no idea as this opera I will undoubtedly become an American classic.
