Its an old fashioned train station. Some history on the walls, nice and clean. Benches are that comfortable, no wifi, few chargers (none by benches). Staff was friendly and announced arrivals of trains.

I have taken Amtrak for the past few years and have normally always had a good experience with them. I took a train to Charlotte on Saturday and I was very disappointed. I rushed to get to the trains station, only to find out that I didn't have to. I signed up to get any alerts and didn't receive any until the train was already 30 minutes late! The train was about an hour late. No one offered a refund for the time wasted! My friends in Charlotte waited an hour for me when they didn't have to. Also they only offer student discounts in NY, CA, and the MIdwest. College students everywhere could use those same discounts! Hopefully service in the future will be better, as I have always had good experiences with them, but as for this one: not so much!

The station is always clean and there is ample parking in the 2 lots out front. The staff are friendly and super helpful. I arrived right as the train was boarding and didnโ€™t have time to get a parking pass. I was able to call the Amtrak line and they connected me to the station. The lady who answered the phone was very nice and extremely helpful, she took my information and put a slip in my window so I wouldnโ€™t get towed. This station makes me wish train service was more widely available because the staff make it a pleasant experience.

My first Amtrak experience exceeded my expectations beginning with the staff and conditions of the Durham Station as I traveled to Charlotte and returned the same day.

We arrived here at 6:08pm and bathrooms were closed then on our way back to Raleigh we arrived at the station and the bathrooms were still closed, we asked the lady at the desk and told us we cannot use bathrooms. So what do I have to go out the station and look for a place to use the bathroom for my 7yr old kid??

My first time being in this facility. Let me say right off the bat; The Amtrak staff were tremendous. The agent on hand this morning, Wed. May 31st, could not have been more on point. I took a dear senior friend to the Durham Amtrak station not knowing what to expect. The young lady greeted us warmly. Ask all the right questions. Provided us with valuable information for the departure and the return. Addressed and followed thru on all my friends special needs. During the COVID era, I had backed off a bit on rail travel. This encourages me to start planning more adventures. Well done Amtrak!

Durham train station gets me from point A to point B but they need to do a better job of hiring someone who best fits the culture because the lady at the front desk seems to ALWAYS have an issue and an attitude anytime someone asks her questions or to do her job. It seems like she hates her job and the people sheโ€™s talking to. I never have this issue with any of the train staff or the male front desk workers but itโ€™s always this lady who makes everyone leave having a bad day.

Josh Randall, the Amtrak ticket agent at Durham Station, was super helpful and pleasant. He helped us check in our bags, provided us with information about our trip, and did it all with a smile. Thanks Josh!

Walked in with my kids and began to speak with the attendant Vernon, as I was giving information a man named Roger began to yell so aggressively at my children(7,10) who were standing behind me playfighting. He yelled "that's assault, I will kick you out" etc.. he yelled so loud it echoed through the entire train station. What this man did was a VERBAL ASSAULT to a 7 and 10 year old. This man yelled with a hatred so strong that we were forced to sit outside in this heat due to this man's intimidation tactics to women and children and my daughter is completely red and flushed. Management is just saying "won't happen again" instead of correcting the problem.

Be 5 minutes early AT LEAST. But otherwise easier and as fast as driving. They have stuff at the station, but I'd have my backpack or purse ready with snancks and 'drinks' ready jic...

The Durham Amtrak station was renovated in 2009 & is in excellent condition. Lots of room for arriving cars & taxi. Very limited long term parking after drop off. Checkin desk is well managed & easy to locate. MUST check bags more than 30 minutes before train arrival. The person checking in in front of me bag was 5 pounds over the max &,was told to move to the benches & reduce the bags weight by at least 5 pounds ( this took 2 tries to be less than the max weight).

Small but pleasant train station in the old tobacco buildings. Nice historical building.

It's definitely not the city I left in the 70s. Much more vibrant, although the new buildings are all cookie cutter ugly. Frumpy old 9th Street now resembles Palo Alto -- lots of foot traffic & cool restaurants & shops.
