I cannot say enough good things about Sun Soo. My son has been taking classes for about three years, but this school year is the first we've taken advantage of the aftercare program. It is indispensable. The teachers, the availability, the love and courtesy shown to all - it's priceless. They are very Covid-aware, and I know my child is safe there. All of their programs are run professionally, but with genuine care woven throughout. My son will be going here for classes, afterschool care and camps for as long as possible!

My days at Asheville Sun Soo start out wonderfully as soon as I walk through the door. The staff is welcoming and friendly every single day. I feel like my child is getting an excellent experience here each time he comes. Thereā€™s always plenty of teachers available to make sure each child is learning and paying attention to whatā€™s being taught. Theyā€™re always very informative about everything you need or want to know and keep all their information available at all times. My son is learning good manners, responsibility as well as how to protect himself. I would recommend Asheville Sun Soo to anyone who is looking for a great place for their child or themselves to learn many things that will help you grow as a person and be better.

My six yr old grandson started classes last Fall. It's been amazing to watch him grow not only in his martial arts skills, but in his character and confidence. This summer he attended their summer camp with every week offering more stories of adventures and new friendships made. I really appreciate their focus on offering kids opportunities to learn new things. He's playing chess now, and clearly I need to practice :-) Sun Soo offers an encouraging and positive environment committed to helping each other become the best version of themselves.

My partner and I both practice at Sun Soo. I started last Summer and immediately found it one of the most welcoming, diverse and community oriented martial arts schools I have ever encountered. Grandmaster Morris has done an amazing job creating a space for for adults and kids alike. The instructors are knowledgeable and skilled at teaching all levels of taekwondo. Though Sun Soo larger than other schools I have trained in, I always feel like I get individual attention when needed. It's been a foundational part of my self care. I love Sun Soo!

We had a wonderful week of camp at Sun Soo. Our 6yr old loved all of the activities and the staff couldnā€™t have been better. In addition to martial arts instruction, they established the core Tae Kwon Do principles of caring and respect for yourself and others, self-discipline, and focus. They also did a variety of arts and crafts projects, had swimming days outdoors at a local creek, and even had a bookmobile come visit for some reading. This was our first experience with Sun Soo and martial arts in general, and we could not have been happier with how things went.

My son Beachler has motivated his Sun Soo process and we are very impressed with the organization! Everyone is kind and engaging, the studio is clean and organized. If I didnā€™t have several fitness oriented hobbies already Iā€™d join in too. We love Sun Soo!

Our son has been attending the after school program, summer camp, and weekly practice in Tae Kwon Do. He is challenged, respected, and part of a family. His experience, knowledge, and growth in an extraordinary atmosphere shows up daily in everything he does. We are all lucky to have Sun Soo in our beautiful Mountain location of Asheville!

I started practicing here in March and I have been having an amazing time in a safe, educational, supportive, and fun environment. I highly recommend Sun Soo for anyone looking to start out their martial arts journey. The instructors are knowledgeable and experienced, but also friendly and patient with beginners like myself. I'm learning something new every day, not only from the instructors but also from fellow students in class. I am very grateful to have found such a positive and encouraging place!

Sun Soo is an amazing community, and has been such a positive part of my familyā€™s well-being. The instructors and staff are the absolute best and you can tell they are so invested in helping you learn. We have two adults and one grade school kid practicing, and itā€™s created something fun and healthy for us to bond over. The community is welcoming and diverse, which we greatly appreciate. We only started this year and have already made wonderful friends and look forward to class each week. Youā€™ll find everyone is helping each other succeed, and itā€™s truly a unique and amazing place that Grandmaster Morris has created.

Both my 6 year old daughter and my 4 year old son have been taking classes for about a year. They have not only learned TKD moves, but also important lessons and principles of life. Staff is top notch and caring and kind, while also being able to keep things under control. This past weekend, my son celebrated his 5th birthday party here and it was the best party we have ever had! Cream of the crop instructors, fun games, and awesome demonstrations with my son leading. Him and his friends loved it! Can't recommend Sun Soo enough!!!

My 12 year old grandson has practiced at Sun Soo for a little over four years and just earned his black belt. The flexibility of the staff, even through the Covid-19 pandemic, allowed him to continue his practice. The character building, strength-training, and overall positive atmosphere has contributed to his growth as a practitioner and a person. The times I have been able to observe my grandson in testing, I have been extremely impressed by all the participants. Thank you, Grand Master Morris and the entire staff for the fantastic work you are doing in the Asheville community for people of all ages. How have I not reviewed this place yet! Sun Soo is the best after school program in Asheville. They are extremely professional and I absolutely trust them with my child. My child has been going to Sun Soo for more than 4 years now. She also practices there. Taekwondo has been a very positive part of her upbringing. They get great exercise and also learn respect, discipline, communication, patience and other critical life skills that help a person reach goals and be a good member of society. Belts are earned at Sun Soo after a lot of hard work and practice. I would absolutely recommend them for After School and Taekwondo.

Sun Soo is an incredible martial arts school. The instructor's are all black belts and very eager to grow, and share what they know with others who are learning. My grandson is very happy with the institution and comraderey between all members.

My daughter and I are new to Asheville and struggled when we first got here. I am a firm believer that it takes village to raise a child. Thankfully, I have found a village in Sun soo. She has attended the aftercare and summer programs. The staff has treated us like family and supported us in ways, that would have made this transition impossible without them. My daughter looks forward to going there everyday if nowhere else. I cannot thank them enough. 10 out of 10 would recommend for any child/family looking for a safe place to grow, interact and learn with other kids and have an extended family with the adult counselors.

My five and seven year old have been taking lessons for a little over a year now and WOW, the positive growth I have seen in them makes my heart swell. Two completely different personalities and skill levels are treated with the same respect, patience, and compassion from all the instructors; both kids are happily progressing at their own pace, with no pressure (except from me). The oldest just recently participated in his first week of Sun Sooā€™s summer camp and had so much fun he was begging to do the camp for the entire summer! This place is just beautiful and so well thought out and organized. From the dojang design, variety in the class schedule, amazingly kind-hearted staff, and way in which classes are taught/ranking systemā€¦ it is all just genius. We are so happy to become a part of the Sun Soo family.

My 2 sons, my husband and I have been practicing taekwondo at Sun Soo for a couple of months and we love it. Itā€™s such a great place with amazing instructors and the best community. We canā€™t be more happy about this new path that we are starting. Thank you Sun Soo for teaching us so many great things in such a small period of time, we canā€™t wait to see what else we will learn from you.

To have a safe, encouraging, constructive, and fun place for our kids to attend each week is a gift that we donā€™t take for granted. The Sun Soo instructors lead with passion and charisma. They instruct in a way that keep a big group of children attentive and engagedā€¦very impressive! You can feel how much everyone cares about the progress and comfort of our children. Thank you Sun Soo!

My son has been practicing at Asheville Sun Soo for four years. I have always been impressed by how the school balances teaching physical skills with personal growth - self-discipline, courtesy on and off the mat, positive attitudes, kindness, confidence, integrity. Grandmaster Morris and his instructors set clear expectations for the kids, and they hold them to those expectations in a caring and supportive way that really fosters a culture of respect. Every member of their team is professional and positive, but most importantly you can see that they love what they are doing. But what really sold me on Sun Soo so much that we purchased a special five year membership? Attending the testing sessions and seeing so many students who have grown through the program for seven, eight, ten years or more. There are teen instructors who started in kindergarten, parents and children who practice together, and students of all ages. I've seen many of the same faces for all the time we've attended and that really speaks to the sense of community at Asheville Sun Soo. They are helping all their students young and old grow into their best selves.

What stands out to me as a parent after watching the lessons at Sun Soo is that the teachers are very attentive and make a point to connect to each of the students. I am also impressed that each lesson has a focus on a value and examples are demonstrated. I feel my daughter will just be a better human being after going through this thoughtful program. From my husband: After 20 plus years of experience in the martial arts myself, Master Morris's excellence in teaching the art of Taekwondo stands apart from all others that I have come across. From our daughter Avery: I absolutely love the lessons, and I am excited every time I have a class!

Highly recommended. The staff are professional and caring, and itā€™s obvious they love what they do. Students feel welcome immediately, and Sun Soo is run so efficiently that even though there are many students in any given class, each of them receives attention and guidance, and no one gets lost in the shuffle. They alternate between individual work, group work, partnered work, forms, one-steps, and free sparring, so thereā€™s always something engaging happening and opportunities to practice and observe. The emphasis placed on collaboration and leadership is truly refreshing. Higher ranks help guide the lower ranks, and all are taught to provide thoughtful feedback. This is a great place to learn martial arts.

My son has been a student at Sun Soo for over a year now. I love this school! There are so many reasons but my number one reason is the Teen Instructors. They have had a positive impact on my son by being a role model in his martial arts practice, a role model in social situations and a role model in respect and manners. I often see them setting the example and he follows because they are cool. (Mom and Dad just sound like a broken record... But these cool people I will listen to!) The school continues to instill confidence, courtesy and integrity in his everyday. I appreciate the safe COVID environment Sun Soo provides as well. The internal incentive they create for their younger practitioners is amazing and really works. Expectations are clear and they realize their goals are in reach! Aside from the Teen Instructors the staff and community are helpful, professional and welcoming. I love being a part of this community.

Sun Soo has exceeded our familyā€™s expectations in every way. Its leaders are kind, caring, and consistent martial arts teachers. Above all, Sun Soo genuinely prioritizes safety and wellness. My time at Sun Soo watching my sonā€™s classes, and his peers and senior class mates test for advancement are inspirational. Sun Soo teaches manners, integrity, perseverance and discipline. We feel safe as a family at Sun Soo and encourage anyone who is curious about martial arts to meet with Master Morris. Our enrollment at Sun Soo has been the best investment we have made in our child.

I cannot speak highly enough about Asheville Sun Soo Martial Arts. My son started just before Christmas and every class has been a wonderful experience for him. The instructors are very knowledgeable and super professional. They teach in a group setting and divide the children up for a more one on one personalized teaching experience. They also teach the important attributes of a martial artist such as; integrity, respect, and being well mannered. If youā€™re looking for a 5 āļø Martial Art experience- look no further!

My son has been practicing at Sun Soo for a little over three years. I cannot say enough good things about Sun Soo! Grandmaster Morris runs his school with excellence in all areas. The instructors are all top notch - they work diligently with the students and really care about them. We love the strong emphasis on character - not only expected at Sun Soo but their expectation that character carries over into family, school, and community! Joining Sun Soo is one of the best decisions we have made as parents and we have truly seen our son grow in his character, confidence, capability, and strength.
