I was ready to rent a wheelchair for our stay in the area until I was advised they needed my driver's license number and social security number for the rental. When I asked why do you need my social, I was told it was in case I did not return the wheelchair, they need all that information to be able to send me to collections. With identify theft continuing as it is, I would never give my social out to a company like this nor have I ever given my social out to a company for a rental. You are allowed to run your business how you want. However, I believe it is important to let others know of your policies that do not go with today's time.

The way the employees treat the sick and elderly at this place is abuse. Sick people go here to purchase things to help them. They are the rudest group of ladies and so unhelpful. The owner is aware of this and keeps them anyways. They dont deserve our business. Someone should report them to business florida license board.

My first visit here everyone was friendly and they had a good amount of supplies. However just after 3 days my $200 purchase from here broke, being on a Sunday and knowing I only had 5 days to return it I decided to go Monday morning. With it being Christmas the receipt got thrown away or misplaced, either way we couldn't find it. My first stop here I was told I couldn't do anything without having a receipt and to wait for the owner to come in. I waited until 12:30 and decided to call, the lady who answered the phone to "take my info" said to try back later for the owner but couldn't give me a time frame. After a couple more hours and no luck I decided to stop back in, still no owner and the ladies working the front were still no help, the lady who answered the phone didn't even write my name down right much less anything else about it. As they mumbled something under their breath about me the gentleman working reminded them that someone needed to "deal with the boot". I was told I would get a call from the owner named "Scottie" just now received a call -not from the owner-saying their products did have a warranty from the company but I needed to have the plastic and pads and everything that came with it. Unfortunately I did not keep every little thing that came with it. For this being a "family owned business" they are the rudest group of people with the most careless attitude towards their customers. And being 2014 I don't see how it's "impossible" to look up receipts in a computer system or find a receipt in their own books. I will never use them or recommend them again.

I got my lift chair in 2016 and it felt firm but over a two year period the search in it has sunk and I'm not a heavy person I called the store and was told there is nothing they will do about it. So beware that they do not stand behind their product. I paid over $1200 for it and now have to get another chair but you can be assured it wont be from them.

Their prices are on the high side and their return "policy" is atrocious.. One thing we wanted they didn't have in stock but said they would order it. Weeks passed and they never did get it. Staff tends to be surly and give limited help. If you buy something from them make sure you will keep it. They will not accept items returned after five days. We had bought a number of items from them together with a basket that cost $ 53 which was designed for attachment to a walker. We had been given a walker as a gift . Subsequently we found the basket could not be attached to it. Although it was in its original packaging and had never been used, HMP would not take it back. They first said that a Florida statute prohibited them from accepting returned "medical" items because they could be contaminated.. When we challenged that (there is no such law) they said it was store "policy" and pointed out they had a small sign on the wall in back of the counter notifying customers of that. They also refer to it at the bottom of their invoice which they give you after you've bought and paid for something that warns they will charge a 25% restocking fee on any item returned at the proper time. Our experience with other medical supply stores is that it is customary to have a 30 day return policy with a possible 15% restocking fee. You're better off buying on the internet or at one of the big stores.

Worst place ever. Will never come here again. The lady that handles the few min conversation that my wife and I had with about getting my wife a scooter, the lady was rude by acting like we were wasting her time and that she didn't want to be bothered. I would recommend that people think twice before coming here unless they want to be treated poorly. I also deeply recommend that the entire staff gets lessons in customer service.

Frankie at HMP medical really went out of the way to be helpful. Needing a part for a wheelchair for my father was becoming difficult, due to sizing and not knowing exactly what was need to fix it, to do over the internet. After stopping in at several other medical shops in town and dealing with rude employees, Frankie knew exactly what was needed for the repair and was exceptionally quick and curtious. Considering this is a mom and pop style store, the fact you get experienced help, and the fact you get to see and experience what you are buying makes it worth going to rather than shopping the internet. This was a positive experience, would recommend to friends and family.

I am speechless about this company and would give 0/5 if I could. What they do to elderly people is heartless and unforgivable. 48 hour return policy is ridiculous. Ripping off the elderly!

Two staff working and neither one of them had any knowledge about the bed & chair alarms I was purchasing. Very poor and unprofessional customer service. Not to mention when I asked the 1st lady she yelled at the top of her lungs to the other lady in the back to come out, with me standing right next to her!! Extremely rude and hurt my ears!

ABSOLUTELY the worst place ever!!! DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!! They are totally overpriced and do not stand by their products. My mother fell and broke her hip. We brought a hospital bed and an recliner. The bed was a piece of garbage and basically fell apart in the first week. I spoke to the owner and she was extremely rude and unhelpful. Stating no refunds or exchanges. Absolutely awful customer service I wouldn't even give it one star.

Terrible business - Avoid at all costs - Sold my elderly mother a bed when she had doctor orders to lease the bed under medicaid. Now they are saying we had a 48 hr return window? who does 48hr return windows? and scams old ladies. These guys do. Cara was so rude on the phone I was in disbelief!

My husband went to this store and gave them the size of what I needed and they had to be thigh highs. He came home and I looked and said those are knees highs like I have for veins. He goes back to exchange and they said they didn’t have, so he asked for the money back $46.00 no you opened them. Yes I did to put on wife, well can’t give money back even though they sold him the wrong ones. My RN checked and for sure they are the wrong ones. Put the money, but no for a fact when I read reviews from now on about places like this I will beliEve the bad reviews. They sale wrong product and won’t return money or exchange. Another bad review, but I doubt it matters to the rude women he encountered. He even asked to speak to the original woman that sold him them. Poor Business standards!!! You need to hire and train people to what they are selling customers. It doesn’t matter if nurses owned if you know better you Or your people need trained. I see why you are a 3,0 rated. I always tried to give people the benefit. But not with attitude’s like this. Enjoy your $46 you need it more then me. Sorry, not sorry. And to think we were trying a place out that was close to home for medical needs.

I can't say enough good things about this place. Now, the second time I went there I did have a bad experience. But, since its the only medical supply store/repair store in town. The last 3 experiences I have had over the last 2 months has been nothing but POSITIVE!!! I believe the wonderful mans name is Frankie. I just adore his skills with walkers and the like. He just has mad skills. I was even willing to pay to have the non spinning wheels put on. I didn't have to.

My mother was having problems with her Pride GoGo scooter. I brought it in to Frankie and he looked it over and tightened up the loose parts. Now things are working much better. The best part he didn’t even charge us. I was very impressed with the great service and look forward to going back for future repairs.

I was referred to this medical supply store by another business but the employee seemed uninterested in selling equipment and rude when asked a question. I will look elsewhere for equipment.

This joke of a company gets ZERO stars from me! ZERO! The 60 second conversation I had with "Karen" was the worst customer performance ever! You are rude, ignorant and should be shut down! Maybe the State's Attorney should be enlightened of your crooked operation!

We purchased a lightweight walker for my husband for travel at HMP today. Stefanie and Frankie were simply wonderful with suggesting a suitable model and loads of helpful tips as well! It's easy to fold and easy to lift. A buckle snaps shut and the walker cannot suddenly open up. We have purchased several items from HMP before, so this was a return visit - highly recommended, impeccable service. And their socks for diabetics are also excellent.
