I am a former D1 athlete so I have seen a lot of different trainers and gyms in my life. No one has ever been as conscientious and skilled as the trainers at Motive. They have identified weak muscle groups that I had no idea existed or were holding me back. They have helped reduce back pain and increase mobility. I absolutely love this place. I’ve been going for over a year, and Motive is a non-negotiable in my daily life. I’ve also worked out with every single trainer there, and each one is phenomenally knowledgeable and lovely. Highly recommend.

Motive Training has been so darn professional and caring in my journey to better health and fitness. Being a total amateur, my trainer RJ has been absolutely boss about teaching proper form and pushing me to my limits. Every trainer there is uber kind and radiates good energy. As someone who’s self conscious about my lack of fitness expertise, the environment here has been essential to me not giving up on this fitness journey like I have too many times before. And dare I say it, I actually have seen some positive results? My clothes fit better, I’m stronger, I don’t tire as easily. All this after only a few months. Excited to continue my fitness journey. Plus the owner Brian has the best thighs in the Midwest, so big plus right! Anyways, highly HIGHLY recommend, particularly if you’re looking to start your own journey towards fitness, Motive Training will be a fantastic asset on that journey!

I have worked with Marie at Motive Training for six months. It has been a fantastic experience so far! I have struggled with chronic pain and originally did the Functional Range Assessment with RJ to pinpoint my strengths and weaknesses, as far as joints go. From there, I started working with Marie as my trainer. I love that every week she develops a workout that is customized to my body and needs. I already feel better - my pain is less, my body image has improved, and I am amazed at how far I have come. This is coming from someone who almost never picked up a weight. Now I enjoy weightlifting and am excited to learn about new exercises and techniques. Marie is knowledgeable and supportive. I highly recommend her and Motive Training.

The staff at Motive Training is exceptional! Brian did my initial evaluation and identified the areas I was struggling with and needed to work on. I've been working with Liz on improving those areas. She had customized workouts for me. One of the areas we have been working on is balance. I never thought I could improve that, but I am! I would highly recommend Motive Training to anyone!

I am so happy that I found Motive! 10/10 Recommend!!! Due to prior surgeries, injuries and misuse I had significant mobility limitations. I tried home exercise programs and always ended up with an injury that set me back. I did not grow up playing sports and don’t consider myself to be “athletic” so I was always intimidated by the thought of going to a gym or big classes. I knew I needed to do something so started learning about functional range conditioning and realized this was something that could be so beneficial for me. Luckily this led me to Motive. I feel so much better, have greatly improved my mobility and feel so much stronger. I so appreciate the environment here - I’ve never felt intimidated and every staff member is welcoming, kind and willing to teach! You see a wide variety of ages, skill levels and fitness levels here and everyone is supportive of each other. If you’re considering trying it out I highly encourage you to do so! You won’t regret it!

My husband and I have been going to Motive training for 2 1/2 years and it has been life changing. We are in our 60's and felt the need to do more to keep up our physical strength. Our current trainer is Dan and he is awesome. He challenges us and knows just what we need to work on. We have had an injury and surgery in the past and he is always mindful of that and encourages us. I would highly recommend Motive training.

I have been training at Motive since September and the experience has been phenomenal! I have neck, shoulder, back, and hip pain so the "typical" personal trainer wasn't going to cut it. My brother who is a chiropractor recommended Motive based on their focus on movement, flexibility, and overall health not just losing weight and gaining muscle. I have lost weight and gained muscle BUT most importantly my neck, shoulders, back, and hips are mostly pain free. I am able to work, live, and keep up with my four year-old daughter significantly better than I did prior to training. Marie has been fantastic! I originally signed on for three months of training to alleviate my pain and get in shape for ski season. I figured I would learn some good workouts, and then when the three months were completed, I would join a gym and apply what I learned at Motive. No way! I'm in seven months and still going strong. Every training session Marie asks how I'm feeling, what's sore, what hurts, what my goals are, and she develops/adjusts my training regimen specific to my needs that day. If I'm having pain or am tight, we stretch more. If I let her know I want to look good for a beach vacation, she caters my workout to that. There's no way I would be getting the results I'm getting if I was just trying to wing it on my own and guessing at what is going to get me results. I hate, hate, hate working out, but I know I have to do it, and if I have to do it, Marie and Motive are the only people I am trusting with my overall anatomical and physiological health.

They train you based on where you are, their ethos of "if you feel pain instead of strain then stop, if you aren't sure which then stop" is fantastic and there's always a less injury inducing alternative in the back pocket. My trainer Ben is been great, and the group works together as a team. Their training approach is built around a lack of mobility, but I am hypermobile and they've been great working with the very different issues that my body brings to the table.

Top tier training. Brian always makes me feel comfortable, like my concerns are valid; very patient. His knowledge of how the body works and moves is incredible, and he uses that to teach me the best way to move mine. Can’t say enough good things about Motive.

I appreciate the personalized attention and support of my fitness goals from Motive. My trainer Ben has worked with me to achieve some of these goals. He also has paid close attention to a shoulder injury I’m still healing from. We not only work on building back that muscle strength with weight training but work on stretching and focusing on that area similar to a physical therapist. In less than a year I’ve seen massive improvement and am almost back to full mobility. I think Ben’s attention on this is so important and often overlooked by traditional gyms and trainers. Highly recommend Motive Training and Ben for your fitness goals!

I have been going to Motive for several months, working out with Liz. Motive's approach has been very unique to me. There's a focus on flexability, strength and balance. I'm in my 50's now and the idea of improving those areas of my life at this stage is very exciting. I have felt a big difference in how I move and how I feel since I've been working with Liz.

I was doing physical therapy for my wrists and back for a couple years. After stabilizing my condition, I wanted to move forward to a more complete workout without hurting myself. So, I worked with the wonderful trainer Marie Barker. She designed an individualized program to help me gain muscle strength on my arms and shoulders and also get me ready for soccer and surf seasons. She is very attentive, listens to me and what my body has to say about the exercises. Marie's training really improved my upper body issues and I'd strongly recommend working with her! I knew that her training was officially getting results when I had to carry my daughter around Chicago for hours on St Patricks day and felt no pain the day after. Thank you so much, Marie!

After sitting at a computer for over 20 years, I developed neck, severe shoulder and back pain. Brian worked with me to help resolve these issues. His patience and step-by-step approach have helped me tremendously. I feel better than I did 30 years ago. I was never one to go to a gym as I was embarrassed, but he made me feel super comfortable. His professionalism and caring nature really shine through. I recommend him and Motive Training 1,000%.

My partner and I had such a great experience with Motive! We worked with Brian the months leading up to our wedding and both of us felt great on our big day. We found Brian, and the whole team over at Motive, to be incredibly knowledgeable, relatable and focused. We didn't just get a great workout, we were educated about proper form and given ideas to try at home. All in all, great experience and would recommend to anyone who is wanting to make sustainable changes in their life.

Brian and his team are the best in the game! I was experiencing pain in my lower back and went into Motive to see if they could help me identify the issue. Brian administered a functional range assessment and I was given solid recommendations on things I could do to remediate the pain on my own. It worked. Motive didn’t just make my pain go away—they also gave me invaluable insight on how to properly move and take care of my body long-term. I’m now experiencing pain in my shoulder, and there’s nowhere else I’d go in GR to get it looked at. Motive, I’ll see you again soon!

Big fan of Motive. It's nice handing them the reigns to help me in building functional range in my joints, and developing strength where it was lacking. I like riding my bike long distances and thought I had a good handle on my fitness- Ben has helped me find some muscle groups were being underutilized, and the range of some joints were lackluster. I have never lifted due to knee, and shoulder pain.... However, via 'FRC' I am now able to do proper strength training which has improved my riding experience, as well as built my appetite for further gym time. Thanks Ben, you da man!

What a great place! The trainers are world class. They treat you with respect! They will help push you through mobility limitations that you were not aware of and help with things that you are not comfortable with by yourself. They train you to move with a purpose. The owner Brian is great to work with and really wants you to succeed with your goals. Rachel is the strongest woman I know, friendly, happy and full of so much energy! Very inspiring! Josiah was my personal trainer! I so looked forward to our morning workouts together! He taught me so much when it comes to form, and building one exercise on another ! I told him not to let me get away with any slacking, and he held up his end of it! Lol We had so many things in common, the great conversations made the hour workout go quickly! Great place to start getting into shape or honing your current physique! Thanks again for everything!

Addison is a phenomenal trainer! I leave my workouts feeling super challenged but not overwhelmed or overworked. She is very encouraging and knowledgeable. I highly recommend booking a session with her!
