College Natural history museum

👍👍 The Tate Museum was quite amazing. No charge to enter. It had a little bit of everything. Including fossils, gemstones, extensive history into how fossils of Wyoming animals were discovered and the actual fossils of these animals. The history of Dee the wooly mammoth was quite amusing. They also had... People often mention museum, fossils,

I love geology museums and this one is fantastic! They have both rocks and gems as well as dinosaurs! One thing that I appreciate is that they have multi sensory experiences. They have drawers where you can touch rocks, fossils, and feel the texture. Some of the drawers were closed due to covid but a few were open. My favorite was the triceratops head. They have a great gift store, like stuff people who love geology would want to buy. Nice staff and the hallways outside the museum also have displays and cool maps.

I might be too much of a little kid, but I loved this museum. The moment you walk in you are greeted by a massive mammoth towering over you. I knew they were big, but seeing it in person really opens your eyes. There are so many things to look at here, and it's all fascinating. Well worth the stop!

I was sorting through some pictures I have saved and came across some when I was hear close to 10 years ago. I remember being impressed with the mammoth on display amongst others they have/had. I enjoyed my visit and recommend this place to anyone who enjoys history.

Such a great museum, more than geology, this is a natural history museum. From current geological products and how they are made to paleontology and how animals and plants were preserved.

What a fun and interesting little place to stop! So many things to see and look at -even a bunch of hands-on interactive things as well. Worth the trip, and... It's free admission!

This is a small, but really nice museum, with a good variety of displays. They have all kinds of rocks, minerals, fossils, and dinosaur bones. The focal point is “Dee” the mammoth, whose bones were found in Wyoming. The display of Dee was really well done, with some castes available to pick up and feel, with information plaques telling the story of what his life might have been like. The plaques around the museum are really well written. They’re informative with precise language, so you learn a lot with a quick read. I also liked that some of the fossil and bone displays had plastic models of what that dinosaur might have looked like when it was alive; it is easier to visualize that way, rather than just seeing a picture. The docents were friendly and enthusiastic. One was down on the floor explaining things to some of the younger guests and then up the next minute, roaring like a T-rex, to their delight. There is also a viewing window into an actual work space for scientists and students.

Absolutely incredible experience! The gentleman that came out answered every question, showed us multiple fossils and was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The gal at the front was so pleasant and welcoming. Great time was had by all!

My kids went gaga for the dinosaur fossils and the rock and crystal displays. Staff was knowledgeable and willing to answer a zillion kid questions. Lots to see in a small space!

Great little museum, with a fair mix of stones and fossils. It is part of the local college, and it's very much worth supporting. They do also have a wonderful gift shop with a variety of lovely stones and lots of great books for both adults and kids. It is relatively small, but given the size of Casper it's still an impressive collection.

The exhibits are so totally awesome. A full wooly mammoth skeleton is amazing. Everything there was found in Wyoming. Don't miss it..you won't be sorry you went

Okay for a local museum. Exhibits are messy and under managed/maintained. Not a lot of staff there for teaching/educating/questions. Just guy at the check out counter. Don’t even bother trying to buy just 1 thing from the gift shop, they have a minimum purchase amount for using a card…even a debit card.

I love the Tate Museum, and just like to look around whenever I am bored. There are lots of different dinosaurs, and cool things to learn! Great for all ages, I've seen 4 years and 60 year olds, all having a great time. Highly recommend.

Best geological museum we have visited. Russell shared a lot of facts and really seemed to enjoy sharing his knowledge with my dino-nerd kid. We really enjoyed our visit.

Fun and insightful place. Lots of things to see, and read about. Very interesting place, and with it being free, I’d definitely keep going back since they have new exhibits during the summertime as well.

Visited this museum in our travels and loved it. It is free. Very easy to follow and understand. You can get close up to all displays, several small games and interactive areas. Russell the tour guide was AMAZING! Would recommend to anyone in the area for a short stop.

This was a super fun place to kill some time! The man working there was BEYOND kind and informative! The prices in the gift shop were also super affordable. I bought myself some dinosaur earrings and gemstones! I liked how interactive the museum was. It was also cool that it wasn't just a dinosaur museum and that they had gemstones as well! And best of all it was free!

😠 Don't go here, go somewhere else, they don't care about their students, they don't care if you fail or not, other colleges get better test scores in a positive way, all they do is beat you down here instead of building you up.
