It was a very interesting place to explore. A lot of the buildings are open but you're not supposed to go in so enter at your own risk. We had a few paranormal experiences in the main building! Please be respectful if you go. The place has been vandalized quite a bit. This was a residential institution and it closed in 1996. There were awful stories of abuse and neglect.

After watching the 1972 report Geraldo Rivera did for ABC and the Ghost Adventures episode, I had to check this place out for myself. Beautiful historic buildings but, very eerie and oh yeah, haunted. Lots of unexplained activity going on here. As I walked around, I couldn't help but break down and cry from knowing how people were treated here back in the day. The facilities have only been closed since 1996 but look like they've been abandoned longer than that due to exposure to the elements and vandalism. The degradation is just amazing. Please DO NOT enter the buildings. Illegal and dangerous.

When I was a little girl we lived in a housing development right across the street from the hospital. One of my uncle's and my sister worked there. Some of the patients where able to walk down the street in front of our house. And my dad had some working in our yard. I never heard of any abuse going on but then again I was only 6 or 7 years old.

If you're in the area, I'd definitely recommend stopping here. Be advised that you aren't allowed to physically be in the buildings. Letchworth Village has much history and backstory to it all. Also the outdoor scenery gives me eerie vibes, worth the visit!

This is my favorite spot for photoshoots. Letchworth village was formerly a mental institution which closed down. It's a bit creepy but so many cool photo opportunities. There are a few different buildings with graffiti all over them. You can see abandoned old beds, toilets etc. Definitely the coolest place I've been.

This is one of the best historical places that I ever been to. There is so much to look at. This is my second time goes here and it's an amazing experiences. This place is for anybody to go, just explore. This place is haunted, no doubt about that especially what I experience was kind if interesting and shocked me at the same time. Definitely my favorite place that I can go back to anytime and never get bored.

That is an interesting place to see, unfortunately vandalism is everywhere and some buildings are almost in completely decay. The story of this asylum is sad and it seems that the place is haunted. I enjoyed my meeting with a group of deers which stopped by a construction what seems to be a swing.

This abandoned complex is a place of despair and spiritual devastation. Derelict buildings with corridors of palpable dread, graffiti covered peeling walls, sagging roofs, scattered furniture and windows with shredded tattered curtains which sway eerily with wandering breezes. The old hospital is possessed by a particularly disturbing and heavy atmosphere. Persons of a certain "heightened ethereal perceptiveness" may detect ghostly whimpering eminating from within gloomy shadows and dark recesses. Indeed Letchworth Village Asylum is a decaying monolith symbolic to decades of human suffering which leaves an uneasy impact on the psyche of those who dare to visit. Not recommended for folks of a nervous disposition!

Old abandoned buildings on an old complex for the mentally disabled. Great to walk the dog and run into deer. Grounds can be a little creepy.
