Suncloud taught me to live again. After decades of suffering debilitating depressive episodes coupled with other dysfunctional coping behaviors including compulsive eating, spending and hoarding, I became so exhausted and overwhelmed that my daily functioning was compromised. I knew I needed outside help and I was drawn to Suncloud's paradigm of treating the person as a whole instead of looking at each behavior separately. My journey of self exploration was guided by Suncloud's professional and compassionate team. The care at Suncloud was individual and personalized in order to ensure that my needs were met. One factor that made the staff so uniquely empathetic was that many of them had been through their own struggles with depression, anxiety and addictions. It was not just a cold, clinical approach. I learned many skills including emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness and mindfulness. I was given the tools and knowledge to help myself in case I find that I am returning to ingrained negative patterns. Another integral part of my treatment experience was the support of a group of peers, each dealing with their own struggles and yet still willing to provide support and caring for each other. Suncloud's program includes a daily process group that was enormously beneficial for me. I found it to be a safe and embracing environment which allowed me to be vulnerable and thereby enabled true healing from trauma and distress. This was not an easy experience and you have to be willing to put in work. Suncloud will provide you with a safe environment and the pertinent skills you will need to move beyond the chaos in your mind.

A FIVE STAR rating does not do SunCloud justice, if I could I would leave a TEN STAR rating. After being dissatisfied w/ my prior treatment center I was so very lucky to be referred to SunCloud !!! I am a 58 year old female w/ Generalized Anxiety, Major Depressive disorder, PTSD, ED and Codependency. I did not think I would ever find the right placement for me ! As soon as I completed my initial assessment I knew SunCloud would be the program that would suit my needs. I completed their residential program in Northbrook and IOP / PHP in Naperville. Everyone at SunCloud from their TC's, dieticians, psychiatrist, nursing staff, clinical site directors, yoga instructors, art therapist, patient engagement/ alumni coordinator , admission specialist, BHS and Dr. Kim herself treated each client as a whole and with compassion . The treatment team knows each client personally and takes the time to make a treatment plan individual to each clients needs. Everyone on your treatment team goes above and beyond to ensure you meet your treatment goals in a setting where you are held accountable in a safe , reassuring and comfortable environment. Individual counseling, group processing, DBT skills , 12 Step groups and individual meal plans ( for those in need ) are the backbone / core , along with a highly-qualified staff, that make this program a 10 STAR program !!!! Care does not stop with graduation ! SunCloud offers many aftercare groups for their graduates. Clients can reach out for help finding sponsors , 12 Step groups or sober living in their community. Clients build a repor with each other - a community/ a family to reach out while in treatment and after ! I walked into SunClouds doors angry, depressed, anxious, and suidical with " no purpose " and no HOPE. I walked out of SunClouds door with a purpose, HOPE, and the skills I need to carry on with my life. I cannot thank each and every person enough whom I met on my recovery journey at SunCloud who gave me my purpose, my life - my being back . Thank you SunCloud !

I enrolled in SunCloud after getting hit with what I call rolling panic attacks while I was caregiving for my mom who has Alzheimer's. They were non-stop waves of hot, intense fear coursing through my upper body and went on for days, then weeks. I couldn't sit up, couldn't eat, couldn't work, couldn't sleep without knocking myself out with antihistamines. I kept myself wrapped tight in a blanket and rocked myself through each agonizing minute. Family urged me to get help. My daughter reached out to her nurse friends for a recommendation. That's why and how I found SunCloud! Other reviews have accurately described the SunCloud program so I'll just say that today I am healing and I am good. I now understand my panic attacks due to the deep dive SunCloud helped me take into my psyche and past traumas. I now control my panic attacks with non-addictive medicine and new coping strategies. I now accept that good mental health is a journey, not a destination. I'm grateful to SunCloud staff and to my fellow patients/peers for guiding and supporting me through the worst weeks of my life.

Lies. Brainwashing. Misdiagnoses. And money-hungry employees. Was lied to during the onboarding process and pressured into joining due to "limited space". 5 other people joined within 1 week of me starting. Was also misinformed about the duration of the program. I was told 4-6 weeks. After clarifying MULTIPLE times. Once I begin the program, I discover it is not 6 weeks, not 8 weeks, but a 3 MONTH program. The care is not individualized. This is adult daycare. Process groups and other educational groups consisting of nearly 30 people... don't expect to see any progress for a LONG TIME. This is intentional-- the longer you stay, the more money you pay, the more money they make. When confronted about the lack of attention to care, they respond with "healing takes time", and every other excuse under the sun. Beware of being shamed in front of the large group and pressured into eating (even if you are full) if they are suspicious about you developing an eating disorder (that has not been diagnosed). The lobby that you see before you commit to the program appears happy, sunny, and like a proper space to heal from trauma and mental health struggles. However, behind the closed doors of the rooms that program actually takes place in, you will be greeted with dimly lit, bare-walled, dusty, depressing rooms. Ask to view these rooms before committing to the program, they will tell you that you can't... Therapists/Professionals are uneducated and behind on new research/terminology on basic mental health issues. Also described depression as being an "addiction to sadness". This is not a safe space to those on the spectrum, highly-sensitive persons, and other newly researched disorders. Overall, this may be a good program if you are looking for a safety net. A place to reside in for months, in the comfortability of waiting for the day you will finally be "healed". But, as the professionals at SunCloud told me before I left, "these are disorders you cannot recover from, only learn to cope".

I have been employed as a therapist at SunCloud for 2 years, and it have been a rewarding experience to witness patients discover their vision for a meaningful, purposeful life. Naperville staff is amazing, and they have created a safe and compassionate environment for people to heal. Mary

After a two year battle with the mental healthcare system, we finally found the right fit for my daughter and that was enrolling her at Suncloud. The therapists are inclusive, offer care without any sense of judgment. The staff is always available to family members as needed. The program keeps the patients focused by introducing new topics each week. The staff makes sure that before releasing their patients to the world, the patients need to have their after care scheduled and that is very important and comforting to me. I would highly recommend Suncloud! Lee S

I can't say enough about this program. My husband and I were both impressed with the tools our daughter was able to take away from the Naperville location. She entered the program ready to put the work in to make long term lifestyle changes, not just a temporary band-aid. She was met with caring support staff that took the time to get to know her and her individual needs. Every staff member we interacted with was knowledgeable and had expertise to share with her as well as with us. They also made themselves available to talk to me if I needed to share anything. As part of their program, they offered a parent zoom meeting 2xs a week so that parents could process and ask questions of other parents in similar situations as well as the facilitator running the meeting. It been a long few years to get to this point and we're so grateful we found out about this program.

Suncloud won't accept your admission if you have borderline personality disorder, despite having a trauma program. People with BPD are 13x more likely to report childhood trauma. The fact that they don't take you solely because you have BPD is hypocritical to their program and treatment goals. Would not reccomend if you have BPD.

The clinical team at SunCloud Naperville is truly amazing! They truly care about their patients and are very trauma informed. They have taught me so many skills and lessons. I will happily refer anyone to them who may be struggling with trauma, grief, an eating disorder, addictions of all kinds. The model of treatment is so intentional and well rounded. It is a place of growth and healing. What a life changing experience it has been for me!

Wanted to share that Suncloud Changed my life. All of the therapists shared their own special gift with me and my journey. Feeling like I could not cope with my trauma, emotions, and life, Suncloud allowed me the space to grow. A safe place to get support and share. I learned how to become self manageable and not self destructive. A curriculum and support group I will use moving forward. Thank you so much.

I have been very impressed with SunCloud Outpatient program in Naperville. My family member has been in treatment there and we have found that everyone truly cares about helping their patients. They work with the patient to get to the root of the problem and really do their best to involve the family members. They have family support meetings weekly on Zoom to give you a chance to talk to other families that are going through similar situations and encourage the families and patients to contact them with any questions or concerns. The care team also works with the patients to make sure they set up support after they leave and have been a wealth of information. I highly recommend them!

As a professional counselor and a former patient of SunCloud (through the PHP/IOP), I am impressed with the treatment model used at SunCloud. The mix of education, application/exercise of skills learned, individual therapy (Michal was a fantastic therapist), process-oriented group therapy, psychiatric care, dietary support, and relational interaction with staff and other clients made for a well-rounded treatment atmosphere. The co-founder, David Newton, went to bat for me, and the billing department staff, Anita, also was pivotal in helping me advocate for my needs with my insurance company. The process-oriented group therapy is what makes this treatment stand apart from other facilities. Individual therapy could only take me so far- the "therapeutic value of one (person in recovery) helping another is without parallel." The entire staff works as a team, and they seem to like and enjoy each other, which can be felt within the atmosphere of the milieu. The staff seems to care about their work, colleagues, and clients. I would recommend SunCloud to any of my clients, friends, and family. I am grateful for the opportunity I had to receive care when I needed it most, and I am thankful for the impact it has had on my life. Also, the aftercare was superb. I was not discharged with a plan and left to fend for myself. SunCloud offers an alumni group and a recovery-oriented care aftercare coordinator (Kimmy) I have been in contact with since I graduated from the program. Kimmy cares about helping me find what I need post-PHP/IOP care and has helped me get linked with the next steps of continuing my recovery after treatment. when it is all said and done, "It works if you work it."

This program helped me find myself again. The set up of having all different people of different situations and addictions proved incredibly useful. They have classes for DBT skills, 12 step, recovery actions, yoga, art, etc. It blends altogether to create a helpful, inclusive environment. The treatment coordinators are wonderful and skilled, and I owe a lot of thanks to them and the people recovering with me for helping me get through my trauma.

I’m so very thankful for my 2 months at Suncloud Health Naperville recently. Within my first two days, I felt hope rising after being in the hardest episode of grief and depression in my life. From listening to other patients share their experiences and wisdom (then sharing mine), to learning many new skills and steps from staff in educational sessions, I had many light bulb/aha moments of my own. Process groups were transformative and life changing for me. You will make years worth of progress in a short amount of time due to the full-time, intensive nature of the program. A great place to receive and share compassion in group and individual sessions. They also provide various support group opportunities to attend outside of daily programming hours. Lastly, they specialize in treating co-occurring disorders, which is unique and was perfect for me…instead of focusing on putting out one fire at a time, you can be treated for all of them at once.

My journey with SunCloud (Naperville) has been one of the most important ones in my life. I came to them fractured, and filled with a mental haze that was getting more opaque to the point where I couldn't see any hope in this pit of depression and anxiety I ended up in. From my first day to my last day, it was extremely apparent that the people going through the program with each other just create a community filled with respect, caring, and love. I felt so welcomed there by my peers and staff as well. The staff are open and create an environment to not be afraid to bring up anything we might think is wrong in our treatment, or daily programming. It was my first time in treatment but I was surprised about the things we were allowed to discuss with our peers in process because some of them could have the chance to trigger others but they always made it clear that we could leave and compose ourselves if that happened. Letting us talk about these things with our peers allows us to heal. SunCloud taught many DBT skills on how to deal with feelings, thoughts, and situations that we experience in our life due to our mental disorders. We have the choice to pick out which ones resonant with us and equip ourselves with to use when facing negative experiences. The staff there each have their own personalities that mesh together to give someone a well-rounded experience with one calling us out when we are bullsh!ting ourselves knowing we need that in the moment, and others that give us the empathy, education, and guidance we need to become the best version of ourselves. I can say that SunCloud did not cure or "fix" me instead they took the foundation I had and gave me the tools, support, and guidance to create the best me that will be more resilient and prepared to face my mental disorders when they inevitably show there face again. I am prepared and believe in myself. I also love myself for the first time in a long time. My journey there is over and I hope I can inspire others to get the help the want/need and to start their own journey here. *fist bump*

I will always recommend SunCloud for my patients who need a higher level of care. The SunCloud model is one of a kind and seems to work for almost everyone. The staff is professional, friendly, helpful and accommodating from admission process all the way through discharge. I also appreciate the quick response and turn around during the referral process. SunCloud is also a great resource for other professionals in the field, they often host CEU's with other providers on a variety of topics. If you are considering their program for yourself or as another provider, I would highly recommend reaching out!

I am extraordinarily grateful to the staff at SunCloud. The staff members all were so kind, genuine, skillful, non-judgmental, and very patient. My family member didn’t want to get treatment for mental health and addiction issues. The founder, the clinical staff and the reception staff - each and every person treated us all with respect and dignity while speaking the truth about what was recommended. They knew exactly what he needed from the first time he was assessed (he refused treatment recommendations). They were patient and assessed him each time I brought him, knowing they weren’t getting paid for all the time spent trying to help him. They were just as committed to truly helping him. I’m also a therapist who refers clients to assessments, and SunCloud was better than the competitors. Thanks to the staff at SunCloud.

I attended a SunCloud Health workshop and I was very impressed by the outpatient treatment center which I believe is a great resource for those of us who are struggling. I had the opportunity to speak with Kimmy Haynes who was very knowledgeable about SunCloud and overall very helpful 😊

The best decision of my life. I have never had more gradutitude and love for a place in my life. I was a outpatient here for about 3 and half months this past year. I learned skills for coping, self compassion, emotional regulation, and self care that I use on a regular basis. The treatment I received created a foundation for me that I never had before and it has helped and taught me to do what is best for me. Having both the group and individual therapy helped teach me a lot of important communication skills when it came to my emotions and shame. I have overcome so much because of this program and I still continue to grow because of everything I experienced and learned here. If you are wondering if this is the right place for you just know that in most cases it is. If you're ready to work hard and become the person you need in your life then you are going to love Suncloud. Or in other cases if you need help and support to do the work Suncloud is there for you. It isn't easy but it's beyond worth it. You will meet many amazing people here both staff and other patients that will help guide on your path of recovery. It is a magical place and I am forever grateful for my experience here!

I have been so impressed with the level of care that the staff shows towards the residents and how all encompassing their programming is. As someone using 12 Step programs for recovery I love that they have meetings and access for several different programs to meet the individual patient's needs. Having been in good treatment centers and not so good treatment centers, I can say this is definitely one of the good ones!

I collaborated with SunCloud Health on a creative endeavor in 2019. We co-produced a local staging of Contact High, an original musical theatre piece, which dealt with the stigmas around mental illness/addiction in young people. SunCloud was very supportive of our show's message and facilitated a talk-back after the show during which audiences could ask specialists questions about mental health, addiction/recovery, and the common misconceptions and stigmas regarding both topics. It was an excellent collaborative experience that left a great impression on my team and audience.

My experience at SunCloud was indescribable. A history of abuse and trauma kept me from getting the help I needed for so many years. The first day I arrived, I became painfully aware of the connection between my childhood experiences and the trap I was in. I could finally see how the gas-lighting and craziness was not imagined. The SC team and patients (who would go on to become some of my dearest friends) helped provide me with the support I needed to get out of my own self-imposed prison. I cannot recommend this program more highly to anyone feeling "stuck" in an unhealthy situation. I thought it would take everything I had to leave. I couldn't see that it was stealing everything I was to stay. Today I wake up happy, excited, energized, and grateful for every new day. Most importantly, I have learned how to break the cycle of abuse for myself and my child.
