Went two times. First time was super rushed, and the person helping us did most of the work for us. What was supposed to be a 3 hour appointment turned into 1 hour. The ring turned out great though! Thought we would try it again, and big mistake. They overbooked for the time slot, so the person helping us was also helping a few other people and we had to wait 5+ minutes in between each step. The person helping was super nice. They recommended I make my ring too small rather than too big because they can stretch a too small ring. The entire time he kept reassuring me that I would get it stretched (I went a size down from what my finger is by their recommendation). Well, when it came time to pay he still hadn’t stretched it. I paid and reminded him. He stretched my ring and it broke. He gave me two options. One to gorilla glue it. The other to send it off to be fixed. I live 45 minutes away, and would be a hassle to come back to get it so I went with gorilla glue. He had me try it on before he put the glue on, and it fit. He glued it down, put it in a box, and said wait 24 hours before wearing it. Well looking at it now it won’t fit my finger because the gorilla glue is so built up. I’m out $100 and have a beautiful ring that I can never wear. I wasn’t even offered any discount or partial refund.

I took my girls to the Gem Studio as part of their Christmas gifts and we had an amazing time. They are 14, 18, and 20 and I would feel pretty safe saying they all had an excellent time. Our silversmith, Liv, was fantastic, personable and walked us through the process with ease. She gave us tips and ideas throughout the whole process. I appreciated the fact that before we did anything, we were given a rundown on the price breakdown so we would have a rough idea of what things would cost. Between the 4 of us, we each made a ring with a stone in it (stones are clearly priced on the back as you choose the-ours ranged from $25-56) and 3 "stacker rings" which were buy 2 get 1 free - total of 4 gem rings and 12 stackers and my total price was $510. Luckily I had a Black Friday discount for 30% off. So is it expensive, yes. Is it a fun, memorable experience, absolutely. Could you purchase a ring somewhere else for cheaper, probably. If there was anything I struggled with throughout the entire 3 hours process, I would say it was the tipping at the end. Liv was amazing, and a tip was absolutely deserved, but how much is appropriate? I just spent nearly $400 on rings, so do I tip 10%? 20% like at a restaurant? Or is it appropriate to tip a dollar amount per person in the group? I don't know! Besides that, I love being able to wear a memory that I now share with my daughters.

My 9 yr old spotted this place during our 12 group stint in SLC. When we went on to see what it was about the staff was warm and welcoming. Clara helped my daughter through the whole process. (Which she didn't have to do, but took the time to do.) She let my daughter be hands on and was very informative with my daughter through the whole process. She even engaged my 3 yr old, encouraging her to hammer scrap metal and make various things with the colored stones. I can not recommend this place (or Clara) enough. Oh and shout out to the gentlemen who made the girls some cotton candy.

my partner and i came in to make each other rings for his birthday and it turned out to be so much fun! we were able to learn a lot about silversmithing, and create two beautiful rings! we really enjoyed working with McKenna, (not sure on the spelling) she was very knowledgeable and very fun to interact with! we both felt very comfortable and she was great at hyping us up after working on each step of the ring making process! be prepared to get your hands dirty, i wish that there was a place we could have washed them inside the studio, but thankfully there are bathrooms close by in citi creek!

Great, fun time. I was able to make two beautiful necklaces. Adelaide was so great with suggestions and helping to make my necklaces perfect. I love that I could bring my own cabochons in. Will definitely do it again.

Celebrated an anniversary with my girlfriend here, and we had a lovely time. Italia was a wonderful teacher and very kind. The vibes of the staff and location were great! It’s a more expensive date night than our usual, but we also created beautiful, quality pieces together that are already so special for us, so it was very worth it. We’re already planning our next trip back for some permanent jewelry 💕

My cousin and myself came from out to town and went with our aunt. My cousin had heard about this place and had looked forward to doing it for so long and it lived up to everyone's expectations and more. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The studio was so aestetically pleasing. Koby was the most amazing host and helper. He helped us feel relaxed and at ease when we were anxious about doing it wrong. He was amazingly skilled and helped make everything go so smoothly. We will be going back the next time we're in town (I'm from Vancouver, Wa) or if a Gemstudio pops up Portland we will be first in line! We all can't stop staring at the pieces we made and they feel so nice and high quality. Over the moon impressed overall.

Loved everything about this experience. We made not only beautiful jewelry but a lifelong memory. Every silversmith we met was patient, kind, and so helpful. They made sure that we got exactly what we wanted. Can’t wait to go back!

The Gem Studio was such a fun experience! We had 3 in our group for the workshop and truly enjoyed learning how to craft our rings. We had a personal instructor, Liv, who truly enjoyed her job. She gave encouragement and helped us navigate the different creative options. By the end of the workshop we left with beautiful, one of a kind rings. The workshop is in the middle of City Creek and just north of the fountain. And had a cozy feel to it. All of the staff was welcoming and encouraging. If you do not want to sit for workshop but want the customized ring, The Gem Studio offers a couple of different options. Including designer, meaning you pick it all out and they make it for you, or you can choose one of the pre-made designed by the silversmiths. If you've every browsed their website you would know there are some beautiful jewelry available. We planned this as a Bachelorette party activity and it was perfect. Pricing varies depending on the stone and accessories your choose, but reasonable if you go with just the basics.

I had an amazing experience picking and creating my own ring. My instructor was so kind and helpful. I really felt engaged as I got to be apart of the whole process! I will definitely be going back to make another ring!

Class moved quickly and we had a lot of fun. I was really happy with the ring I made. Expect to pay $100+ for the final product. Well worth it for a memorable experience.

I loved the gem studio! It was such a fun experience and our instructor was very kind! I love the two stone ring that we made. Thanks to help from ellie, it looks amazing. My only complaint and why it’s not a full five stars is I am disappointed with our inlay. I think the kyanite we used should not have been an option as it is a very weak stone and although we did many big pieces it all turned to dust when ground down. I wish we would have known before. We would have chosen a heartier stone.

If you are looking for a fun and unique experience this place is just that! You basically make your own jewelry along with the help of amazing employees. Book a session, which last about three hours, pick some stones out, and get creative on making your own rings, necklaces, bracelets, etc. I have been twice and both times it was so fun. I will say it is on the expensive side. I think on avg your item will be about $100….but for a special occasion and a unique item you really can’t go wrong. I know the rings I have made are only unique to me and were done in celebration of a life mile stone. In addition to the fun of making your own item I wanted to especially say the employees they have here are beyond amazing! They are so helpful, creative, patient and informative! Both times I have gone they have had all new people but both times they were great. They definitely make the experience that much better!!

Emma was amazing! She was so cute and had so much personality. She made the experience so fun and informative. My Mother-in-law ended up making her ring a little too loose and Emma insisted they make it right. So they quickly redid a few things! My MIL was so appreciative and thankful that her ring ended up PERFECT! Over-all a great night. Someone needs to give Emma a raise for going above and beyond ❤️.

Super fun, interactive, and rewarding experience. The employees are very personable and helpful every step of the way. There are so many options for each step of the process so you can make something unique and to your taste. Would come here multiple times if I could!

So much fun! I was so pleased with how my earrings turned out - as someone who doesn't have much creativity, I was a bit nervous but wow! Clara was fantastic walking us through every process step-by-step, incredibly patient and knowledgeable. Everyone in our party walked away with one-of-a-kind jewelry that looks like we bought it in a high end store. Thanks, Gem Studio!

Amazing workshop, Italia was amazing and she did such a great job walking us through the process. Grace and Rachel also helped, and were awesome to work with, as well. We had such a fun time with the others at our table. ***One year later, and Abe was our instructor this time around, and it was as perfect as the first time! I did two necklace pendants.

Really fun activity! I went with my Dad for his birthday, loads of fun. He made a pendant, I made a ring. It took about three hours and all the workers were super nice. I would say that they could use more staffing. So one staff for a party of two. We had three in our group total and the other person was on a different step then us so there was some downtime. Over all, a really fun night.

My experience was amazing! But the product didn’t match the price. Took my daughter for her birthday. We had a great time. The staff were amazing and tried to help make a quick product. Wish there was more time spent for quality. For 175.00 plus you have to tip for each project. Not worth the cost of the end product. But if you are all about experience do it.Would loved it if it could be smooth.
