In short, this is a kind of house of contempt and humiliation. My mother was transferred to this hospital from a federal hospital with a stroke. The beginning looked promising. Polite staff, guarantees of highly qualified care, etc. Yes, they really have some conscientious and responsible employees. And in fact, this is a large bureaucratized system created to make money from your insurance. It's not about your health, it's about the money that can be deducted from your insurance. They discharged my mother after a stroke after five days without explaining anything. not providing the care of a physiotherapist at home who should monitor the patient's condition and also teach family members how to properly care for the patient during his rehabilitation. On our call five days after discharge, where is the promised physiotherapist. We sent him a fax but it did not arrive. to our question and what next? They, showing absolute indifference, leave us to solve this problem by ourselves. As a result, it's already the third week after the stroke, no medicine, no qualified care... Every time we call, they tell us something different. These idiots themselves do not understand how their bureaucracy works. Keep away your loved ones from this useless system .

If you’re giving birth be extra educated. They love to take advantage of first time moms. They also won’t release the name of the midwife who birthed my son and damaged my body because she was tired of waiting for me to push him out. (Both of us were stable this whole time mind you and he was not stuck.) I got post partum depression and still currently in counseling for my experience here. Stole my birth experience from me and faith in the goodness of obstetrics. You’re a project that’s on a time limit at this hospital. So go in being able to advocate for yourself and know when they’re lying.

Dr. Holt the Emergency Room Doctor, Almost killed my Mother! He was rude dismisses no bedside manner he treated her like she was nothing I understand with medical medicine there's criterias you have to meet for pain management but she was screaming out in pain as he yelled and told her to stop screaming and tell me where it it was her he gave her an didn't draw blood didn't give her an ultrasound she wasn't even worthy of a room 10 days later the pain was so excruciating took her into Allenmore come to find out she had for blood clots in that same leg!! She has now had to have all four toes amputated on the same foot. She 10 days prior came in to St Joseph with complaints of excruciating pain! He didn't care!! But he will and he will never forget her name LISSA CANTY!! THE PATIENT YOU SET IN A CHAIR IN THE WAITING ROOM SCREAMING AND CRYING OUT IN PAIN THE PATIENT YOU DISREGARDED YOU TREATED LIKE SHE WAS NOTHING LIKE SHE WAS A JUNKIE BUT THE 80 YEAR OLD Caucasian WOMAN SITTING NEXT TO MY MOTHER GOT IV PAIN MEDICATION FOR KNEE PAIN!! IF YOUR MINORITY OR PERSON OF COLOR AND DR HOLT IS YOUR DOCTOR RUN!!!!

Called to speak with my mothers nurse to get an update as I live out of state. She was the coldest person to even be called a nurse. Condescending and told me to talk to my other family members. If I was able to do that, why would I be calling. Won’t let her have even one visitor. So if she does, she will die alone. No wonder there’s a nurse shortage. I did not hesitate to tell her how she made me feel. I don’t need a message back asking me to hear more about my experience. If this hospital really cared about their reputation, they take into serious consideration the other horrible reviews. I hope this lady never has to be in my shoes one day. Bless her heart.

Worst ER experience we have ever had. Do not go to this ER if you can find another one. Waited for 4 hours to get the chest x ray result for our toddler. The radiologist told us it would take 30 minutes, said he’s sorry it’s busy it normally would take 5… after asking an hour later for an update the front desk person was rude and said she doesn’t know why the radiologist said that because it will take a lot longer. We followed up again another hour later, before we finally went to tell the triage nurse we were leaving to go elsewhere. We found out they were waiting for a spot to open up with respiratory to give our toddler a breathing treatment and they had no spots open. Nobody ever told us this is what we were waiting for, or that they had no spots for him. Makes you wonder how many hours we’d be sitting there until we found out they couldn’t even see him. Not to mention, as we walked back to the x ray room, there are beds lined up the halls with sick patients, not enough rooms. There were people in hospital beds out in the waiting room as well. If we had received communication or even be treated nicely when asking for an update, we would have felt a lot differently about this place.

If you're not white don't come to this hospital. The color of care is their only priority. Don't be fooled by their fake smiles and scintillating personalities, it's a distraction. They will take the lackadaisical approach in addressing most health issues you may have. I know its hard to believe this type of behavior still exist here in America and since little or nothing is ever done this opprobrious behavior, continues to happen. Don't gamble with your life. You just can't trust everyone based on their uniform, and with that being said. Be safe and God bless!!!

Great Doctors, Nurses and Staff. Still waiting for my results from the biopsy taken from my colon cancer surgery. Lab needs to step up their cyber security and backup there results. No excuse for having to wait 3 weeks for a result that could define your life's outcome.

My daughter had the ER looking at her ankle, and didn't send her home with a doctor's note to help her work with her employers. Over the next several days she tried to call the hospital to get the doctor's note. The first time she called they said that there would be a doctor's note waiting for her in the ER; when we came in to pick it up the next day they didn't have it. She tried on two other consecutive days to find out where the doctor's note was and spent quite a while waiting on hold. When someone would pick up the phone to see what was needed she'd have to repeat her story over and over again, and then she was placed back on hold again. She finally left a message for the doctor and never heard anything back. I understand the ER is a very busy place but all we needed was a simple doctor's note that we never did receive. Wasted a lot of time on hold getting passed around only to not get anywhere, except placed back on hold again waiting. Something that would have taken someone a few minutes of follow through to handle instead of passing the buck. Would have made a huge difference.

I went in for me vomiting the past five days and i had a seizure three day ago and I was marked down as "anxiety with abdominal issues" (not sure how you get tummy trouble and anxiety out of seizures and excessive vomiting) waited 2 and half hours in the waiting room to get put into a room, changed into a gown for about 10 minutes, had one nice doctor at least, and the other doctor I had dismissed almost everything I was saying and kept interrupting me when I tried to explain to him my medical history. I appreciate the nice doctor who gave me a referral for a clinic. The expensive decorations all around the hospital look great too i guess.

Great hospital. Great experience. Awesome nurses, they were their for you at all times. You didn't feel like you were left in a room somewhere no where to be found. Loved it. I would highly recommend this hospital, definitely going back and recommending thus hospital to others! Great hospitality. Everyone was super nice and informative.

I waited several hours in the ER, but my injury was not life threatening and I was stable. The staff was very nice and professional, even while dealing with a hair raising issue where the pt left the ER , snuck back in, was defiant and verbal with staff who were working hard to find him a ride home. Dude disappeared for a few and ended up carjacking someone outside. Staff and patients were safe and secure thanks to security and intervention from the nurses. Great job all. Don’t mind waiting my turn in such a crazy environment. Kudos to you all for keeping your cool.

They were only focused on on problem and not all so i was still in the same amount of pain as when i arrived. My blood pressure machine beeped the whole 6 hours I was there. I pushed the call button for the nurse and someone picked up and hung up so I pressed it once again and waited a while still for assistance. They didn't seem to care and one nurse forgot to put my blood pressure cuff back on once again nobody came for quite some time. They brought in 2 new patients to the room and immediately gave them something for pain one of which didn't even have insurance and was homeless. I then called the nurse once more to use the restroom and something for pain she unhooked me and says to give a urine sample...really? Nobody asked the other two for a urine sample and plenty of other nurses had been in and never said anything about that. My sample sat on the table which they saw but nobody ever took it and it was still there when I left. I had already had blood work and other tests. Never again will I return to this hospital. The nurses didn't listen nor care for anything I said to them. Mind you when I got there only one person was sitting in the waiting room and not very many in back. They never asked about medications I was already on nor did they take my vitals. What kind of place is this and they were not understaffed in fact there were plenty of nurses even doing the same work another had just done.

They are doing their best, but the ER is extremely understaffed. I received care in the waiting room, with over 20 other people able to listen in on my personal medical information. I have never received treatment in a waiting room at any other hospitals. I hope they can get appropriate staffing to improve patient care, and ensure protected patient healthcare information is not unintentionally overheard by dozens of people in a ER waiting room.

I had a great experience here for my surgery. The front desk woman was very cold. That didn't detract from the wonderful caring staff here. Everyone I was helped by was phenomenal. Great bedside manner for all of them. I have never had an experience as nice as this with any of my medical procedures. Thank you so much to all of them!!!

No one likes to be hospitalized, and sometimes circumstances are all but ideal. I have to say my stay was a pleasant one. The doctors were caring and very good at explaining in details I could understand. My nurses..Jaime,Srie,Brooke,and Myung were the greatest. Such compassion and caring. I did not want for anything. Great job all!!! I would recommend this hospital to others

Went for kids covid shots. There was no wait in line getting into the building, good parking usually across the street from the pediatrics bldg (next to the main entrance)..... no wait to get to the reception desk, it took a few minutes to check in and get called by the other nurse into the actual exam room. However, she was very professional and had a fantastic bedside manner especially with my youngest because he was terrified of the needle. She was patient and the appointment took way longer than it should have but she kept her cool and got it done. In Total I think we were probably there about just over an hour and that was from the time we walked in until the time we walked in the bldg to the they got in the car and that was for two children's shots, plus with a 20-minute mandatory wait time in a different room in the hospital which was required after the shot to ensure there were no ill side effects. Luckily they had coloring crayons lollipops stickers and everything else to keep the kids occupied. I've always had a great experience at St.Joe's. Both of my children were delivered here, my husband had his surgery, there and every person whether it's staff, doctors, nurses, aids, even the custodial staff, food handlers and greeters. Each person I've ever come across has been a hundred percent professional, kind, friendly, empathetic, patient, understanding and very knowledgable.

When we have an appt etc at St Joe's hospital I find all the nurses, staff, doctors etc to be so nice and friendly. Their always so helpful with things. The kind staff and nurses in the heart center went out of their way to make sure our needs were met and we knew where to go. It makes our appt so much better because of their patience and kindness. Wonderful experience.

I had the best labor and delivery experience here! After a horrific experience at a different hospital, I gave birth at a birthing center once and was planning a home birth, but ended up going to this hospital instead at the last minute. Everyone here was so amazing. I didn’t have to wait long in the ER and they rushed the epidural for me after seeing the difficult time I was having. They were so accommodating to anything I wanted during labor and afterwards. It was a breath of fresh air. I didn’t think hospitals like this existed anymore. Thank you so much St. Jo’s for the most wonderful birthing experience!

I just had an induction yesterday for my first baby and have had such an amazing experience. My labor and delivery nurse was Emilee and she was just nothing short of amazing/awesome. She was so encouraging and funny. She was such an awesome support person to have there throughout the process. When it actually got down to the labor and induction itself, I was aided by Dr. Fraser and Dr. Malmberg. Also ABSOLUTELY amazing! They had great bedside manor and made the whole process and experience just so positive. The nurse that came to help me and baby after delivery was also great! She helped me so much with baby in the first two hours between skin to skin and latching. She was so great and gentle with our baby. I’m now in the family birth center and have had Patsy as my nurse since 7pm last night. She has been so great with showing me how to swaddle, change diapers, and really great techniques to make breastfeeding as easy as possible for both baby and me. If I have another baby, I will 100% come back to CHI Franciscan as this has been such a positive experience. Thank you so much L&D team and Family Birth Center team! We so appreciate you

I believe prior to Virginia Mason position as lead. St. Joseph Medical ran better. Example would be the loss of the optical division there were many who relied on the personal and professional care. And without it the many were placed in a position to utilize outside services. And with the many it created the unnecessary financial burden. And if you are referencing my communication with my selected medical care team. FORTUNATELY that has not changed. If it had I would utilize one of the other medical facilities outside the VM St. Joseph.

I had an appointment for a Prolia shot. The staff was polite and professional in their tasks. I was surprised about the professionalism demonstrated by all. Their process seemed very involved. Having to go the the Outpatient Infusion Center, I had to ask if their Prolia was an injection. I expected a simple shot, so wondered if their process was different than getting a shot. After the process was completed, I felt very good about the comfortable setting and professionalism.

We had an appointment for 0930am with one of their physicians. We checked in 15 minutes early and were told to wait in the car till they call to enter the office. We waited for over a half hour after the appointed time and one of the nurses going on a break asked what we were waiting for and we told them. They checked and found that the individual that checked us in failed to hit the enter key on the computer. Thank you for your incompetent staff at the check-in desk. Then we were told that x-rays were needed that could have been taken while waiting for the physician but no that didn't happen, so by the time we left a 20 minute appointment, we ended up spending two and a half hours in a possible infecous environment all because of incompetent staffing at the check-in desk. Your check-in desk personnel need to be schooled on how to help each other and the patients. This was THE worst medical experience we've had with CHI Franciscan. I hope to never use this slipshod organization in future. MADrouin

My wife had an unplanned c-section performed by Richelle Olsen. She was very kind and proficient. She always seemed unrushed and present. We felt comfortable and very satisfied with her care. We also spent 2 weeks in the NICU in both the Level II Continue Care Rooms and Level III Intermediate Care Rooms Pod C. I can't speaking highly enough about the care we received while there. We had close to 20 nurses and were impressed with with all but 1. After our experience, I have a lot of respect for the NICU nurse team, Charge Nurse, and head of the team. They were personal with us, remembering lots of little details even after not seeing us for a few days. One of the nurses bought us a book to read to our son. The team was confident and competent in there care as well. I told my wife, I wish one or both of our parents were NICU nurses. What could be better than grandparents who were/are NICU nurses? They take nominations for Daisy awards and I thought about writing one up, but they were all pretty exceptional and the whole team deserves it. I don't know how anyone builds a team of so many amazing people. Those were two highlights, but honestly all but a couple of interactions throughout the hospital were exceptional. I left impressed by the care we received here.

My brother is severely handicapped. Due to his health issue we had to take him to the ER twice this week. The staff is amazing. They provided quick assessment and care for my brother. They are compassionate. As a Paramedic I have the opportunity to visit many ERs all over the country. St. Joe's staff is one of the kindest I have encountered. Its rare to find excellent care with compassionate. Thank you so much for the care you gave my brother.

Went to ER after falling on knee. Unable to weight bear on leg for 1-2 days. They kept me in waiting room entire 3 hours. Never took me back to a private room. ER doctor did not once look at my knee although she came and did talk to me a couple of times. Based her findings on 1 X-ray taken. Was going to put me in a mobilizer but didn’t when she found out from nurse I couldn’t straighten leg. I asked for ice for knee 4 times. NEVER got it. Had to learn to use crutches and give my history in waiting room with 20 other patients listening to everything. Patient care and privacy is gone from healthcare. I am an RN of 40 years….

This place does not measure up to the other hospitals in the area. We came here because the urgent care was closed and it was closer. It would have been better if we drove to a hospital that was further away. The staff do not measure up to the staff at the other providers in the area. At this point, I would go anywhere else.

I have never written a review before, but I feel compelled to write this because I don’t know how else to thank the heroes and angels at St. Joseph Medical Center who saved my son when he was hospitalized for seven days with Covid and related issues. Dr. Padmanabhan, Dr. Shah, and the nursing staff Nick, Elizabeth, Daniela, Tina, Paige, Madison, Brie, Brittany, Alexus, Kayla, Ariel, Corina, Arissa, and Rhylie, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I will always be thankful for the genuine kindness, concern, and meticulous care you have shown for my son.

My Physical Therapist at Outpatient Services, Candice, has been excellent in every aspect of guiding me through this work, working with me in specific problem areas for me, and explaining this working process and my progress in detail and response to my questions. I think she has been exceptional and I made good progress with effective results which in great part is due to her dedicated efforts. I did not feel confident I could make progress but through her kind and professional instruction and focus on difficulties for me, I ended up doing very well. And it made all the difference, thanks to her patient assistance.

Went to ER after vomiting and non stop sweating for 24 hours. Severely dehydrated and still sick, I sat in a wheelchair for 5 hours struggling. Once I was checked in, you get assigned a recliner with a curtain around you with 5 other chairs. Mine was broken. I begged for anti nausea medicine, which I asked multiple times as I was still struggling to function. Once my IV bag was empty they started checking me out without asking how I felt. I begged them for another IV Bag as I still felt dehydrated and needed the hydration to help me fight whatever bug was killing me. They denied me and checked me out and said to come back if I wasn’t feeling better. I told I don’t feel better at all and begged one more time for more fluids through an IV. No response and wheeled me out to the lobby. GOTO ALLENMORE ER if you want staff that are gong to take care of you and make sure you’re better when you leave. I was sick for an additional 3 days and lost 10 pounds mostly due to being dehydrated.

I am thankful for the care I received upon being admitted (Doctor, & paramedics) to Saint Joseph Hospital. There was not much interaction after I was admitted. I was in a not so great position. My nurse left my family on the phone for a prolonged period and stated I’ll get to them after my lunch, they ALL heard her say it. They were worried and concerned and didn’t receive an update until I called the next day and was discharged. I worked in healthcare for 15 years and know what is expected as a caregiver. I understand the job is demanding, that is something I understood when I accepted the job as such. I am accepting and forgiving. I pray things come together better.

One thing I look for is cleanness of Doctors office and how the staff treat me with respect or not. And St. Joseph has passed the test. They’re very responsive to my questions, respectful, and very professional. I love that. Each floor than I been on is very clean the 3rd floor where my Doctor office is located, 2nd floor Laboratory very clean. Even across the way in out patient where I had X-ray done is very clean. So fare I’m very pleased.

They were very behind schedule, which everyone apologized for, so I had a bit of a wait for my 10:15 appointment. Everyone I interacted with was pleasant and helpful. The surgeon did not feel rushed when she met with me, and even made a follow-up call when she was writing her notes.

I am so grateful for the presence of St. Joseph’s hospital in the community! Knowing there is a level one trauma center within ten minutes of home is so reassuring especially as my wife and I age. Everyone was super professional and knowledgeable! Everyone had empathy and kindness, even the security guard on duty! Thanks especially to Linda, the ED nurse! So appreciative of everyone choosing their life’s work.

I was referred to the wound care clinic at St. Joseph's on Wednesday morning, the staff there Was polite courteous and very professional and very helpful however they did not have the facilities to help with my so therefore I was referred to come back that afternoon to a different part of the wound care clinic that had the facilities that could treat my foot was removing a piece of steel That is in my foot. I came back in the afternoon to the other part of the wound care clinic and things there seem to get a little mixed up. I was told I would require surgery on my foot to remove that piece of steel which was in the toe joint and on a nerve and it is very very painful. I was told to pick up a prescription and to wait on a phone call in the next couple days for a surgery date at Saint Claire's I went and picked up the prescription and it was not what I thought it would be anybody else and nothing for the pain in my foot which was intense to say the least. Over the next 2 days I got no information on a service redate and I requested something for paying in my foot and I received nothing there either I could see the surgery date Taking maybe more than 2 business days however I called and asked for something to relieve the pain in my foot and I got nowhere with that I find that inexcusable, Completely unprofessional and just playing down right in humane.

Radiology got mad because I kept getting sick. Top of that they told me to call a week ahead of time if I have to reschedule. The front desk reschedule me because they don't want me to come in since twice I got Covid 19. Then recently had the flu. Even when I have a cold they wanna reschedule. Then they went ahead and said we're not taking you in since you called out multiple times. Not my fault I keep getting sick and not my fault they tell me to reschedule.

Would not recommend if you’re going in for anything serious or that feels serious. Staff is very unprofessional The gave my dad wrong diagnosis when he had to get a heart surgery after going to another e.r after they said he was fine ! Normally I would rate them a 5 star rating, their customer service is always amazing and excellent care. However today I called to try and make an appointment with a cardiologist due to a past event that sent me to the ER and was instructed to follow up with a Cardiologist. The lady who answered the phone for me to make my appointment was very short with me and kept telling me the ER I went to was not part of Franciscan Medical and that I’m not in the system. I proceeded to explain to her that my OBGYN is part of the Franciscan Medical team and have her his name, but I understand the ER was not. She then said “Well I could schedule you as a self referral, but then I would have to try and put in all your information and listen when you try to explain what’s going on. You need to just call your doctor you see to help you since you’re now in the system.” I said my doctor is an OBGYN and that I should be on the system. She said you need to call your doctor and hung up on me. Very disappointed with her service and it’s too bad that she puts a bad representation out there for the rest of the office. I ended up call my doctor at Franciscan Women's Health Associates at St. Joseph and the receptionist that answered the call was very apologetic for the way the woman before her treated me and handled the situation and she went above and beyond to try and help me. Overall I recommend this Medical center but I hope to never have to deal with the receptionist at the Cardiologist office ever again.

Went in extreme pain from possible frozen shoulder having no idea what was going on with it. To the point of wanting to not be alive, my mom took me out of desperation to get any kind of help. The DR and two, what I assume might have been nurses? On staff that day basically laughed at us. They made fun of what my mom was asking could help me. They didn't help me really at all except a toradol shot, most of it came out. And then they sent us away knowing I was in such a bad mental health spot. I'm still in extreme pain. Honestly I never have good experiences here and will only go to other hospitals from here on out. It's really sad because they actually have some decent Drs in their system but this hospital in particular is awful. Go to Allenmore, they're kinder and better. Even if they don't know how to help you they try and I've NEVER been treated this way there. The tech who eventually fitted me for a sling (which my PT Dr freaked out about because it makes things worse in my condition) was surprised and said so when he asked me if they'd given me an MRI to see why I was in so much pain and we told him no. Even their TECHS know more than the Drs in this ER.

My service was good But I would like to mention that if the ER sends a.prescription the should at least ask where the prescriptions should be sent to. Because I had to wait several to get mine cause they were filled at your pharmacy and I don't have a car nor anyone to go pick them up so I had to wait to have them mailed to my.I had phneumonia .

Came in today with some knee pains that’s been going on since Thursday. The ER room was empty! Nurses and doctors were very friendly, gave me Tylenol for pain and got me a x ray in a timely manner, along with my results which was tendonitis. Much love to the crew here!!! 🙏🏽❤️

I have had two hip replacements at St Joseph’s Hospital in Tacoma. My surgeon likes using their facilities. I love their RN staff, top notch all the way. I find St Joe’s to be a very competent and professional hospital. I especially want to call out RN Cameron in post-op, I have had him taking care of me both times I had my hip replacements and he is first rate. I would use this facility again.

I was doing well overall but made an ER visit for a common health issue. Only 2 out 10 of the staff nurses had on mask (red flag). Stayed for approximately 6-8 hrs waiting for test results!!! Within an hour of leaving myself and my two family members assisting me were struck down hard with COVID. We were fine before the visit. Terrible that this happen and to see only 2 nurses masked up and making an effort to stop the spread of COVID. The two nurses that wore mask were also the only two that showed any real compassion or concern. Such a shame and a regretful visit.
