We managed to take our cat on his first hike here. Happy to report that he actually liked it. A little muddy, but hey, it's Washington.

Cute short walk in the woods leading to the water where there was a flock of geese eating seaweeds. Perfect place for amazing pictures.

This is a pretty cool place, not very busy, but at least 5 or more people are here throughout the day, very pretty scenery

The lower section of the trail leads to the Fern Cove estuary, with fine views of Colvos Passage (and perhaps eagles). It is a mostly flat, easy hike. The upper section is thickly forested, quite steep in places, and provides a good workout.

It's really quiet, it's one of the cooler places during hot weather because of the location lots of migratory birds, nice Creek, no dogs allowed at the beach though... bummer

The creek itself is flowing freely this time of year. There are several newly fallen old growth cedar across the path that have been neatly sawn off to allow passage. The path is quite uneven. Not recommended for mobility impaired. The path follows the creek to Fern Cove. Eagles and other raptors feed here alongside gulls and terns. The tide was out which reveals a large flat coursed through by split rivulets from the stream. Whales and sea lions pass through Colvos Passage with the Olympics in the distance. One park bench but several logs for a picnic. This is just the lower pathway to beach. Most of the trail is up the hill. Maybe next time.

New 'All Ages' paved upper trail and view points connect to Vashon Community Care Center. Nature preserve trail includes bridged walkways over creek and very steep stairs. Beautiful hike!
