Kunal Pathri is a small rock temple dedicated to goddess Durga in Dharamshala. Located in the beautiful Dhauladhar Ranges in Kangra district, this timeless ancient temple is surrounded by tea gardens. One can enjoy a pleasant walk to this temple from the Kotwali Market ( approximately 3 km) in Dharamshala. The temple displays exquisite carvings of gods and goddesses. It is said that there is a stone in the temple that always remains wet. According to local legend, the moment it starts drying, it rains. This temple is considereded to be a Shaktipeeth as it is believed that when the Goddess Sati, wife of Lord Shiva, died, her skull had fallen at this spot. The road to the temple goes through forests and tea gardens and the temple premises offer a good view of the snow-capped mountains of the Dhauladhar range and the nearby verdant plains.

This place is very close to Dharamshala. While coming here you can visit Himalayan Brew Tea Garden and buy multiple types of tea and coffee. The temple is simple and clean. The story is attached in photos. Please bring an empty bottle. Because Mata is in a cave and above it the water is dripping in the cave and gets collected. This water has been dripping for many centuries. This water is considered holy water. There is a Shiva Temple to pray. Few people believe that this Mata is a Shaktipeeth. There is also a selfie point as "Jai Maa Kunal Pathri "

Kunal Pathri Temple is a little rock temple dedicated to local goddess Kapaleshwari. The temple was consecrated by regional tribes to offer their prayers. This ancient temple is surrounded by dense tea gardens and is the perfect place for a long peaceful walk amidst the lush surroundings. The temple displays exquisite carvings of gods and goddesses. It is said that there is a stone in the temple that always remains wet. According to local legend, the moment it starts drying, it rains. The temple premises offer a good view of the mountains. Dharamshala Kunal Pathri Temple, Dharamshala This famous temple is located in the beautiful Dhauladhar ranges in Kangra district, amid dense tea gardens and lush surroundings. It is dedicated to Goddess Durga, who is believed to have been immortalized in a stone that always remains wet inside the temple. The temple displays wonderful carvings of gods and goddesses and it is believed that when Goddess Sati, wife of Lord Shiva, died, her skull had fallen here on this spot. The alluring surroundings, exquisite design, and magical atmosphere of this temple attract a lot of tourists every day. The Kunal Pathari is only a few kilometers away from Dharamshala and a walk from Kotwali Bazaar will lead you to the rock temple of the local goddess. Since the temple is located near revitalizing tea gardens, the tourists can enjoy a good view of the Dhauladhar range, where they will be greeted by refreshing winds. This is a perfect place for a nature walk and photography and to get the blessings of the mother goddess. Jai mata di 🙏♥️♥️❤️ har har mahadev ji 🙏♥️❤️❤️❤️

The place where Maa Sati's skull had fallen was now called Maa Kunal Pathri. This is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths of Maa. This location is in the popular tourist destination of Dharamshala. Three kilometers from Dharamshala, the temple is located in the middle of a tea garden. Here Mother Bhagwati is worshiped in the form of Kunal stone. A large stone that resembles a huge pot and is constantly filled with water is placed on Maa Kunal Patthari's forehead in the temple. Devotees take this water with them to their homes for worship. This water is collected from rain. The temple priest claims that whenever the water level in this kapal starts to drop, it rains, and the kapal is then filled once more. People have a lot of faith in the mother in this regard as well. Hundreds of devotees reach here to attend the court of Maa. Devotees keep coming here throughout the year. Forests and tea gardens are present all around the temple.

At present renovation is going on. Easy to approach the temple. Situated at the river bank. Nice view. Along with this do not forget to visit Mahadev temple in the same premises. A shoe stand is available.

Peaceful location and perfect end point for halt while on evening or morning walk from proper Dharamshala. Evening aarti time at temple is around 6 PM. Water in large stone above idol of goddess never dries off. It is also recommend for tourists on visit to tea garden to pay a visit to temple, which is hardly on one km walk from tea garden(Himalayan tea factory outlet).

Kunal Pathri is a little known Shakti Peeth in the middle of Dharamshala. The original temple lies however in the Dhauladhar Hills, where you need to trek beyond Triund to reach. If you want to get the blessings of the Devi, you need to complete a visit to both the temples. However, it goes without saying that even the Dharamshala temples is quite neat and clean and gives you a effervescent cultural experience. Kangra is a home to nearly 6 Shakti Peeth including Kunal Pathri and becomes a must visit for Temple connoisseurs like me.
