Had a great night at Joshua Brooks. Bar upstairs was really nice and great selection of ales to get you warmed up ready for the club downstairs. The sound system in the club was fantastic and the vibe was very typical Manchester industrial theme. Prices were a little steep compared to other venues but you know your gonna pay more at 3 in the morning in a club so live with it. All in all it was a great night and can't wait to go back.

I was physically assaulted and verbally abused by security when I asked them if they had seen anyone leave with a bundle of coats, as my friends had been stolen. The security are dangerous, untrained and clearly, from previous reviews they like to pick on isolated and vulnerable people. I would highly recommend avoiding this venue at all costs. Even if you have a ticket for an event you are not guaranteed entry anyway.

One of the best venues in Manchester. The basement club hosts amazing DJ talent every week. The bar is a top spot for drinks, food and cocktails. A Manchester gem! Highly recommend!

The music was great, the bar staff were great despite it being so busy. It was sticky and dirty but so is every club on a Saturday night. I just wasn't a fan of the bouncers. I understand it can be a thankless job dealing with drunk people but like...the rudeness begins before you even enter. If I hadn't been with friends who wanted to go inside it would have put me off

Some of the best events in Manchester are held in the basement of Joshua Brooks. As far as venues go, the basement is probably one of the best going, you can get right up close to the DJ and the sound system is excellent - only downside is it does get hot, and I mean very hot, which means you often have to retreat to the upstairs bar or smoking area, both of which are very pleasant. The smoking area sitting out over the river below is especially nice.

First time eating in Manchester. First we couldn't order the burger, but it ended well. We ordered loaded fries with pork and chicken. Dam that was good food! Good flavours and fresh.

I really enjoyed this place as a venue. The door people were really friendly and so were the bar staff. I never had to queue long for a drink and everything seemed really well organised. I saw Ilan Bluestone here and it was a big crowd. I enjoyed the intimate atmosphere and being able to actually chat to the djs who were mingling around.

Four of us came to Joshua Brooks for bottomless brunch, and it has been the best bottomless I’ve been to. Staff were so attentive, and the food was lovely. I suffer from a gluten allergy and my boyfriend a peanut allergy and we were bother very impressed with the range of food we were offered. Great value for money.

Was here on Friday 21st for the Route 94 event. Night was amazing, music was amazing, bar staff were lovely, Unfortunately, the security are absolutely horrible. Had to nip out at one point to put a friend in a taxi home (Preston) When I tried to get back in, security were unnecessarily rude, aggressive and were clearly enjoying it. My phone had died so all I wanted to do was tell my friend who I was staying with that I couldn’t come in and needed their keys to go home. All this time they were letting other people buy tickets and come in (so I even offered to buy another ticket to come in and they still said no) Told me it wasn’t their problem and I needed to wait outside til the end (which was 2 hours away) I’ve loved, and been to this this venue for events over the last 9 years or so. But this new security team are awful, awful people

The interiors, ambience were lovely but musics a tad loud for a non-weekend night and the corona beer we ordered tasted really funny. Food portions were decent for a fiver. We ordered hummus but were later told it was unavailable which is completely fine and happens. But perhaps a better system would be to take payments at the table once the food is served, to avoid having to pay in advance for an item that isn't there.

Great atmosphere and decently priced drinks. Smoking area was a tad small on a busy night & for all the hype the sound system gets it was a tad quiet... I think the subs were slightly underwhelming when in comparison to either hidden or XLR. Still a good night, friendly staff.

Marsh was great. Bar staff too. Security.....rude as. My son was having a photo with Marsh at the end of the set. They wouldn't even let me wait for him. Shows over, get out attitude.

I really like this space. With the upstairs and downstairs areas and the outside smoking area which is fun to meet loads of people. Nice wooden floors old building. Went to see maxxi soundsystem which was ace. Security are nice but need to loosen up a little. My friend was frisked within an inch of his life last time it was really on top and unnecessary I thought. Also I was really confused why there was a guy in the toilets just sweeping the floor all evening, why would u not wait till the end of the night. Aside from that it is a top place to go though and had a brilliant time

Nice pub, good selection of beers. Staff friendly, but one really struggled to understand our order, this happened more thank once. Missing drinks on both occasions. Hard work to get a complete order. Otherwise it's a good spot.

Booked a table here for food on Saturday. Bar seemed nice and to be fair was clean. Staff were varied in being approachable; some were very nice, some looked like they didn’t want to be there. The whole point of going to Joshua Brooks was for food. When we received our menu, we were informed that they weren’t serving certain meals. Initially, we were agreeable with this, and we found something to eat. We went to order at the bar, and were informed that the menu had been updated again. The options left were very basic and was not what we were looking for. One of the reasons for not serving burgers was due to having no burger buns. Could the manager, or another member of staff, not go to the Tesco opposite to purchase some??? Completely understand that it was a Saturday, but some reasons seemed very unjustified. I would like to see someone find another table in a restaurant, at short notice, in central Manchester on a Saturday… needless to say, we didn’t.

This place used to have comfy sofas and atmosphere, now it has strange wire partitions between tables that stop you from falling off your overly high chair, but now the whole place is full of hard surfaces like a swimming pool the noise is horrendous. You'll need to keep constantly drinking to keep your throat from going sore because of the endless shouting you'll have to do to be heard. Maybe that's the plan?

On a Friday night I visited JB for a quick drink. The bar itself has lovely decor and a lovely atmosphere with music. However, I was saying to my partner that it’s quite a confusing place because it’s nicely decorated, there’s lovely music playing, there’s a pizza menu (the garlic bread was lovely) however whilst you have this lovely atmosphere you have a giant projector and another Tv in the corner of the room with sky sports on. I feel like when I enter a type of bar like that football / sports wouldn’t really be a thing. When I ordered my drink I was given a Bombay sapphire glass which had scum all around the brim, I order a gin with slimline tonic…. They had no slime line tonic. I wasn’t surprised because the bottles fridges were absolutely bare. When I received my drink, there was a dead fly stuck to one of my ice cubes. I was going to let the scum go and drink my drink with a straw but when I saw the fly it tipped me. My partner and me decided to order a cheesy garlic bread which was absolutely delicious. Before leaving I took myself to the toilets. This was a big mistakes. Considering the bar is well designed I thought the toilets would’ve been decent. However, the soap looked like it hadn’t been replaced in months, the tampon bins were over flowing with used products and it had a stale water smell. Overall I was gutted. Feels like a very disorganised place. It needs someone who is organised and clean to run it.

Loved it here. Just popped in for a quick drink and bite to eat. The salt and pepper chicken was fantastic, great selection of drinks, great service. Will definitely go back if I'm in the area 👍

Great place with live music. Sadly food was unavailable on the evening I visited which was a shame because the menu sounded great. Appreciated the live music. Drinks were good. Nice decor. Would definitely go back.

Went on the Halloween weekend and it was £17 a ticket, all the music was literally just noise for people on pingers, I think 1-2 songs in the 2 hours of being there actually had lyrics. Bouncers seemed to have some little 🍆 complex too I don't understand the aggression when the customers are literally your business but whatever. We left and went somewhere decent afterwards and the entry fee was better. I'd say if you wanna do drugs go here but if you just want a good night and no hearing loss go elsewhere

Went to Joshua brooks this nye a paid over 100 pound for 4 tickets only to be refused at the door by the head door man for wearing Nike Cargo pants. I was respectful at all times towards him and the other bouncers had no problem with it. I asked if I was able to get a refund only to be refused and then when I asked for his name so I could contact skiddle he refused. I thought he was extremely unprofessional and needs reporting. It was not cleared displayed on the tickets that Nike cargos were not allowed and the to be honest I just feel like the guy wanted to pick on someone. From looking at other reviews it seems to be a running theme. I would avoid this venue at all costs in the future.

Went for bottomless lunch with girls was £25 each for 1hr and half we deffo got our money's worth in drinks. The waiters were really good we was never without a drink. The food was okay. Only reason I haven't given 5 stars was because the toilets wasn't clean only one cubicle had loo roll and there was poo on toilet seat in one cubicle and it was there the whole time we was there no one went in to clean. I suppose it was a student type bar so their standards aren't as high.

Recently had a bottomless brunch here which was very poor. The atmosphere and music was very loud to a point we couldn’t really talk as a table of 4. Toilets stank of sick after someone had recently decorated one of the cubicals in vomit. Not sure what the lager was but it was either watered down or very week to a point it almost tasted like water. The food wasn’t much better but I would say the staff are friendly enough!

*AVOID* - Don't go to their bottomless brunch. Worst one I've ever been to. They had run out prosecco and the food that most of our group wanted to order. The food took about an hour and a half to come. It was burnt and tasted not good. Service was slow. The drinks that were on offer were pretty terrible - the lads in the group said the beer was horrible and the cocktails were also not very nice. Only positive was that the server was friendly. The bottomless brunch is a massive rip off & I would like a refund. Overall, bad experience.

Saw Darius a couple weeks back, great night, great venue. So bloody warm though, didn't help that there was a mini heatwave going on outside either. Drinks are ok priced, it is Manchester afterall.

Techo in the Skatepark Afterparty (1/8/21): THE SECURITY STAFF WAS DISGRACEFUL: They would literally treat every person in the queue with no respect at all and extremely rude, even to those who would approach nicely and politely to the door. They would also not let some people in for no reason even though they had tickets. My worse experience on my first weekend in Manchester. The rest of the staff were lovely. They took ages until they started letting people in. The special guest TBA was never announced. As I came into the basement Dj's were playing something that was not techno, and not even enjoyable to hear for more than 1 minute. Thus we left because we paid for a techno afterparty that was not happening.

I've been to so many places in Manchester where the food is just "ok". The food here is not only a third of the cost of most places, but also absolutely incredible! They even made a vegetarian version of their burger for my friend. Highly recommend; should definitely try the Chilli Gambino Burger and the Garlic and Rosemary fries (So So So Good!)

Currently in here and have just devoured their Roast Chicken Supreme Sunday dinner. Simply WOW! Absolute stunning meal, compliments to the chef! The venue has beautiful decor and very comfy seats, lovely mood lighting. Another reason to love this place, you can bring your 4 legged furry companion!. Met a couple of lovely doggies whilst in here. Last and certainly not least! All staff are very welcoming and helpful. Overall a 10/10 from me - lovely little place! Highly recommend!! Nice chilled vibe - thank you Joshua Brooks ❤

What a gorgeous Sunday dinner at Joshua Brooks/Cubanitos. The meat was outstanding and so was everything else. Service was outstanding. I don't usually like eating out for a roast dinner but the beef dinner I had was the best I've ever had. HIGHLY recommend!!

We were looking for a place to get food before a show and chanced in here as it looked busy. We luckily got seated and had some incredible food which catered to the vegans, veggies and meat eaters in the group. The cocktails were fantastic and were not watered down which was a fab change, and the staff were friendly. Would definitely recommend the tater tots and the guac and chip dish for snacks, but the whole menu had so much choice that it catered for everyone with ease.

Great venue for drinks in Manchester. Modern decor with a large drink selection. We were served by Lauren, a lovely and engaging Irish lass who went out of her way to make our evening there fantastic. Would recommend.

I came here last weekend with some friends and had the best time! We started off drinking at the cocktail bar then ended the night downstairs in the club, such a versatile place. While upstairs the bartender made me a specialty rainbow cocktail and oh my god… it was amazing!!

Went for bottomless brunch. Got sat down waited an absolute age to get served anything had to shout someone to serve us. Food isn't all that great pizza was burnt but at that point was starving. One positive which has come from the experience was one certain staff member. Think his name was Nathan (black hair) absolutely unbelievable customer service and you alone are the reason for the 4* review. Made our day having him serving us

After sitting at table for a few hours and buying plenty of drinks, a group of girls walked in to the pub who were having a birthday meal and had a table reserved. The man with the hat who was working here on Saturday had obviously forgotten that they were coming as he had not mentioned anything to us about us needing to find another table at 5, the time they arrived at. Nor, was there a reserved sign on any table. Instead he walked over and said, without saying hello, excuse me or anything, and said "I'm going to have to kick you off the the table ". We informed him that his language was very rude and that we had spent a lot of money. We also said he should have mentioned to us that he would need the table back when we first sat at it a few hours ago, to which he replied "don't kick off". We had remained very calm and reasonable all along. A group at the other table said that they were leaving and the birthday people sat there. We also moved. We could only find a table outside, covered in ashes and a fowl smell coming from the river beside us. None if the tables were clean. Even the one we were forced to leave wasn't cleared after we left it. Just left empty of people with things on it. They also took a half full drink and put another glass into it. We asked for it back as they should mot have taken it. They didn't say, sorry, I put a dirty glass in it by accident, let me get you a fresh one. Just gave it back. New girl learning to pull pints at bar, took ages, no explanation. They just kept taking her wrongly pulled pints and throwing them out. An extremely rude and lazy staff. I have never experienced rudeness like it. I find the English to a be a disgracefully rude and unfriendly group of people. They have no manners or people skills. They are highly unfriendly. Coming from Ireland, this would have been dealt with completely differently. They would tell you when sitting down that table was needed back at 5, if you didn't mind. They would say, how are you, I just want to let you know that we have a booking on this table for 5. I hope this is okay with you. I'm sorry about this. The new person would also excuse themselves and explain that were new. If an issue arose they would say that they were very sorryand could they sort it out. They would have given a fresh drink but not have taken half a drink as they ask is it okay to take it first. They certainly wouldn't use words like kick. They have respect for customers. Disgusting place this bar.
