In truth I have not been to this pub for some considerable time due to the fact that when ever I called in the past the cask ale was off or very limited choice. However I am pleased to report what a difference! Excellent choice of Hyde's beers, the pub is bright & fresh with comfortable seating outside as well Friendly bar staff & an excellent pint!

Went for Sunday lunch, and wasn't disappointed. We were seated quickly, despite not having a reservation, and the staff were polite, attentive, and friendly. The food was delicious - I went for the duo of meats, which was really well prepared, and more than generous in serving size. Brilliant stuff.

We (vegan) came with our grandparents (non-vegan) for Sunday dinner expecting the reliable pub curry we’ve had in the past, and left totally blown away by the carrot Wellington and biscoff cheesecake. We ate our way through London’s vegan scene in 2018 and this stands up there with any adaptation of British cuisine we tried. The star was obviously the Wellington, but the perfectly cooked veg and rich gravy took it to the next level. The cheesecake was impressively light yet rich and a wonderful use of an accidentally-vegan favorite. Been vegan for approaching a decade and this was a special meal we’ll remember for a long time, at a very reasonable price. Something for everyone in a warm, refined atmosphere. Our highest compliments to the chef, and heartfelt thanks for a vegan option that’s not just an afterthought. Hope people can try them every day and not just Sunday!

I found the John Millington to have a lovely atmosphere, people chatting, instead of no loud blaring music in some places I've visited, there's 3 of us eating with , all Inc soup of the day , main and 2 extras then 3 drinks .. we only had a bottle of water during.. the meal . It was just over £68.00 We all loved 👍 Our meals .. Go there for yourself .. And See the Environment for yourself 😊 .... . As you can see I hardly touched my Ring Onions , As I loved my Char grilled sauce burger with fries so much .. however.. the rings are juicy 😋 with a crunch...

This was our first visit to The John Millington. We booked ahead just in case but we didn't need to as it was very quiet. We were greeted by a very friendly member of staff who showed us to our table. We were told it was table service but if we needed more drinks to feel free to approach the bar. We ordered our food which seemed to take forever to arrive. I ordered the steak pie and my partner ordered the steak. When it finally arrived, on first impressions looked great. The pastry was lovely but sadly the steak filling was really tough. My partners steak was nicely cooked but the peppercorn sauce just tested of cream and had very little flavour. The mushroom and tomato lacked flavour and seemed greasy. We both wanted another drink so as nobody had approached our table to ask if we needed anything my partner went to the bar. The barman was very unfriendly and made him feel that he shouldn't be stood at the bar and it was an inconvenience to him. The waitresses were very friendly and I want to get that across. Its just a shame about the barman.

Really enjoyed the food, well presented and tasty. It made a change to the rubbish you can get when spending £15/22 quid for a main where ever these days. I would recommend 👌

Lovely vibe when we came in for Sunday lunch today, nice buzz around the place. We were greeted straight away and shown to our table. Thw waitress,Maia, was extremely attentive, friendly and professional. The Sunday Roast ( beef, turkey and roasted pork) was amazing as was the chicken burger my son ordered. Great food, service and atmosphere...we'll definitely be back. and a bonus the dog could join us!

Staff really nice and efficient. We hadn't booked(A Sunday afternoon),I intended to have Fish n Chips, but went "Sharing Platter Roast" with the other half. Blimey good call, it was huge Roasties, mixed veg., Turkey, Beef, Pork belly, half a roast chicken, Mash/swedes loads of Gravy Fab! Well done.

Excellent beef roast dinner. We sat outside until a thunderstorm and torrential rain forced us to run inside to shelter taking our meal with us. It was no problem to staff to offer us a table (clearly reserved for another diner) to finish our meal, which we vacated as soon as we had finished eating. We had our dog with us too and she was also welcome to shelter from the rain and stay by our side. Thank you to all the staff, great service, lovely food and at a reasonable price too.

The fish pie and steak pie was delicious. The girl taking our drink orders was absolutely terrible. I asked for a Tanqueray and slimline tonic and she looked at me as if I had two heads! I eventually just asked her for a Bombay and slimline but she brought a regular tonic. My husband ordered a pint of diet Pepsi and she brought a small bottle of regular Pepsi! There was a young man who came over a few times to check on us and brought our food...he was much better as he brought us refills of correct drinks ordered.

One of the best places for a cheese, and onion pie, albeit they can be a bit skimpy with the chips at times 😂 Though unfortunately it can also be inconstant in regards to how big your pie will actually be as well (sometimes infinitesimal, as evidenced by one of these photographs)… Still it’s a lovely little place that more or less requires you to sign into their WiFi as I’m sure that Hydes pubs cut off data on purpose 😅 Still, it’s worth a visit, worth a gamble… make your own mind up

Last minute online booking for Sunday lunch. Very friendly, pleasant and efficient staff. It was very busy but the service was excellent. Good food and decent portion sizes. Would happily visit again. Recommended

My son and I went in half 6 Saturday evening having just phoned ahead to check. Pub was bustling with a good atmosphere and the restaurant was filling up. Lovely friendly staff tended to us throughout the meal which was delicious! I had the chicken fillet, which had lovely crispy skin and the caramelised onion and potato gratin was fantastic and all held together with a great sauce. He had rump steak, medium rare, which was really nicely cooked. Desserts were equally good. I had sticky toffee pudding which was moist with lots of toffee sauce and a really generous helping of ice cream. He had the chocolate and salted caramel cake which was chocoholics heaven! Highly recommended.

Friday Beer. Everything about this pub is excellent except the beer. We stopped for 3 - each one different - and after agreeing all were awful we concluded it will be a long time before we come back. Shame.

Booked for a friend's birthday. They were happy for me to go in early to decorate the table. Very good, friendly and quick service. Overall the food was good and the sharing roast platter for two was more than generous. We left with take out as it was too much for two people. We didn't feel rushed from the table when we had finished either. Also very reasonably priced. Would definitely be happy to go again.

The Milly never lets you down, great food, reasonable prices and always a good vibe. Had another great night last night. Good to see some music is back just need the full band experience. Service wasn't great last night which is unusual but won't put us off...

I had a lovely meal with a friend 2nd October. My starter was scallops with king prawns which was one of best starters I've ever had plus I can also recommend the duck for a main. It was good food and good service.

Family get together. The staff were lovely and accommodating. Large family group given a separate space. All the food arrived in good time. Everyone in the group enjoyed their meal and the surroundings.

I live locally but haven't visited The JM for some time (as I often venture into the City) .. my Uncle & Aunt were visiting from down South, and we decided to book their last night here on a Mon eve -- we had a lovely large table for the 5 of us .. food was absolutely delicious ... WOW ... from the chicken dish to the pork belly to the yummy chips .. service with a smile too, and remember to get your platinum card for 20% off Mon-Thurs for the over 60s (1 card per max of 6) ... thanks Colin :) Looking forward to our next visit

Great pub with excellent food. There was something there for everyone. The history of the venue was superb but warranted a further Google search. As an aside, great for plane watching as on the flight path of one of Manchester Airports runways.

Very pleasant. The real ales were good, with a pleasing wine selection and nice lagers. The food was lovely, and the prices are average for the area. Attentive staff, both at the bar and at table.

Good little pub with good service and good food. Food menu is a little extensive and trying to please everyone and hence with so much on offer its never going to be of a super standard. That aside you can't go wrong with the fish and chips which is excellent. All in all a good experience will be back

Had a lovely lunch with the wife and stepson and the dog. Staff were busy but attentive. It was a really pleasant Sunday lunch. Food was good and tasty, beer was lovely and the puddings were too much decadence. Though deserved. Left a gratuity on my card and the waiter was really pleased. Suggested to me that maybe patrons aren't giving the usual tips as we are paying with cards now 8nstead of cash. It's disappointing, I always like to give a little tip when we have been pleasantly attended to.
