We went for a joint family birthday meal. Lovely venue with nice staff and a great outdoor area for the kids when the weather is a little more appealing. It was a very busy afternoon so service was a little slower than expected which I understand with working in hospitality myself. Our server although I didn’t catch her name was really nice and did what she could for us. The food was lovely. Scallops for starter, trio of fish for mains and crumble for dessert. My only Criticism is that the thick cut chips were dire and really didn’t match the quality of the rest of the food. They were thick soggy and very oily and just tasted like oil, not pleasant! I was expecting a thick cut chip that was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I can say that they looked blanched as opposed to being cooked through properly which tells me that they just sent the food out when it was ready and didn’t have time to cook the chips. I would much rather them have sent all the food out then let us know the chips will be another minute or two to make sure everything was tip top. Let me make clear that this didn’t ruin the experience for us but just left us feeling a little confused as to why the chef would serve such lovely food only to be brought down by the lack of attention to the chips. But overall I’d give 8 and half out of 10

Just amazing, dog friendly, fab food, great service, warm welcoming and good value. We had a lovely visit with our toddler baby and dog. All were made to feel welcome, we had the fantastic Sunday roast platter which was exceptional value and really fun for everyone.

great food with good portion sizes (especially with the Sunday roasts). staff are always kind and there is a variety of dishes that they serve. my mum goes a lot because loves a good beer and to chat with friendly patrons and the bartenders. overall i would recommend trying out this establishment because of all the above reasons and a very well kept outside area you can eat in

Celebrated my birthday last night in the Teepee and I cannot thank the staff enough. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, and the food was gorgeous as always! The Teepee is absolutely beautiful I was so pleased and we had a great night, thanks to all at the Jolly Thresher 😊

A lovely pub, set on the main road. With such welcoming staff, a great atmosphere and such a cosy pub I could have quite literally spent all day in. The food selection was great even for me who is vegetarian. My dog as you can see loved it too, was made to feel very welcome and fell asleep in front of the fire. I will definitely be going back there again.

Me and my dad come here at least once a month. He travels down from Wales to come and see me and almost every time we choose the Jolly Thresher for a meal. The food is always incredible as is the staff. We had our Christmas meal there today and were hosted by a lovely lady called Jill, her service was wonderful as was her attention to the little things, I don't normally write reviews but her service alone made me want to!

Really like the decorations and atmosphere, outside got lots of seating area and looks very pretty with some hanging lights on. We went there just a night before they are changing menu which got much less choice. May be not good to comment the food. Salad was ok thought.

Returning customer, 30 minutes drive. Wednesday afternoon, quite busy. Well presented pub/restaurant, very clean. Friendly, welcoming knowledgeable staff. We had mushroom soup, black pudding and bacon salad to start, both delicious. Battered fish chiabatta and the mackerel dish for mains and hot apple pie for dessert. All were cooked to perfection and very flavourful. A very fair price paid for meal. There's a wonderful ambience here, with a large deck and spacious garden to rest . Great for families and couples,it has a traditional feel for diners wanting a relaxing time. Thanks to all at the Jolly Thresher.

This is such a lovely pub with great indoor and outdoor space. Large menu would suit most tastes with a great gluten free selection and really knowledgeable and friendly staff. We had the steak and chips and scampi and chips with a side salad then coffee and mini desserts and everything was perfect.

A nice pub with a traditional atmosphere. They have a good selection of beers and the service was decent. Unfortunately, the food was a little bit bland and basic. The cheese garlic bread was essentially just cheese on toast, my plant based Wellington was really bland, and the the other starters were a little hit and miss.

Great all round dining experience. Visited this place a few times and on this occasion with a group of friends and we all found the food very nice with a varied selection on the menu, this being a Sunday so a menu with roast dinner at the heart of it which was well worth the choice to dine out for and everything else is what you'd expect a pub grub establishment to serve and serve well, a good selection of ales too. Great staff, very friendly and attentive with a very well presented clean and tidy pub.

Always a nice atmosphere and a very spacious pub with a massive beer garden with something for everyone. The staff are always very nice and go out of their way to help. The food is lovely too and dogs are welcome.

Everything was brilliant, such a lovely afternoon for Mothers Day. The food was amazing, and the service was excellent, even a cute little plant for every table to take home.

Nice pub area, but we weren't impressed at being charged £7.50 for 7 slices of plain white bread and a single piece of butter because no starters were available for a party of 8! We'll call across the road to the shop for a loaf of bread to eat for starters next time!

Attentive professional staff, nice ambience airy, light and clean. Drinks are well served. Great food but A few gripes, no brown sauce (my wife nearly cried) The Scampi could be improved and from our personal taste, three of us thought that the chips we were served were too chunky and not nice. Don't let this put you off though because we have eaten different options from the menu and it's always been very nice! We found today that onion rings are amazing.

Arranged for the Tepee for after a christening on Sunday. It exceeded all expectations, done out really nice, fairy lights, blankets etc. Brilliant! We initially only went for drinks and we ended up having Sunday lunch. The shared roast platter is absolutely amazing and worth the extra, it could have fed 4! Kids food was super value also with a sweet! We are foodies so we know when its good and it was excellent! All the staff couldn't have been more helpful. A big thankyou to Josh and the team for making it a perfect end to the day!

Went for Sunday lunch with my wife and mum. Staff were friendly and helpful. Service was prompt. My wife and I shared the Sunday lunch platter for two which would have fed the three of us if need be. Food was well presented and tasted good. There was plenty of gravy and we could have asked for more. For dessert we all had the mini dessert with coffee which was excellent value and more than enough. Will definitely return at some point

Great looking interior and a great outdoor eating area, both in a nice modern design. The food was very tasty and extremely well presented. The food was reasonably priced also. The service was exceptional. Nothing was to mu h effort and the server was extremely knowledgeable in the beers on offer and there strengths as well as the make up of each menue item. Had a very good experience dinning there.

Beautiful pub, very well staffed who are always polite and professional. The ale is always really nice and most of the time it is hard to find fault with the food. We go as often as we can as a family.

We stopped at a nearby caravan site on our way to and from the Lakes and this was the local pub. We were made to feel very welcome and our two springer spaniels were too. Staff were very accommodating and kind. Food was lovely, plentiful and a bit posh but reasonably priced. We had two meals there and drinks and were very happy. Would definitely recommend *****

A stylish, spacious, comfortable and welcoming pub/restaurant, serving top quality, tasty and generous dishes. Sunday lunch was gorgeous. The staff were so engaging and attentive and worked flawlessly as a team. Service from the kitchen was remarkably efficient too. Great menu alongside well kept real ales. Highly recommended. Best to book ahead!

Nice dog friendly pub with canine rules and biscuits. The staff treat your dog as a family member, and make sure they have water too. The food isn't bad either...

Service was excellent, staff very accommodating and efficient. The food (Sunday roast platter) was very nice, meats all juicy and tender, crispy crackling and fresh perfectly cooked veg, superb value for money. The pub was very busy but there was no waiting time for food. Didn't try the real ale unfortunately but it looked bright and fresh. Next time I won't drive so I can try it 🙂
