I don't normally leave reviews, but feel I need to balance all the high reviews. Perhaps Don Giovanni was having an off evening, but there seemed to be lots of unhappy tables. One table of five got up to walk out as their food was taking too long; I assume this to be the manager (male, in a suit) who then started shouting at one of the ladies (shockingly poor), she rightly told him not to shout at her. He sulked off. This should have been our hint to also leave. Another table had to request clean plates. We could see a number of tables waiting too long to pay. Staff didn't seem interested. Our food, when it arrived, was mediocre (and over cooked). Once we'd finished, we waited and waited and waited! for the plates to be cleared and to be offered the dessert menu etc, but again staff were more interested in setting tables and other tasks, but not serving. By now, there were only a handful of customers remaining, so no excuses for such poor service. So we too paid (at the reception since no-one was interested in table service, asking for service to be removed) and left. In summary, based on this evening's experience, I really can't recommend this establishment.

My best friend and partner booked a table for 4 of us on sat 28th May, little did I know you where all in cahoots and my partner was to propose. You all knew and it all went without a hitch. It was an incredibly emotional night for me that couldn't have gone better. Thank you to you all for your smooth service, delicious food and making mine and my new fiancees night PERFECT

Food was really good (way better than the place over the road) and priced well for the quality. Service was good but we were a late night (slightly tipsy) walk in so I guess we were harder work ! Portions really good size and great quality

First of all, I came with my friend around 3PM, less than 5 tables in the whole restaurant. However, the waiting time between the starter and main was 20 mins long, no one was around most of the time. I order Calamari Fritti for the starter, soon I put my folk to it, the squid and the 'crispy' layer is separate, the oil definitely wasn't hot enough, no golden crispy colour and texture, it was just cream white soggy and super salty instead. No wonder the lemon was so big. The main was okay. My other friend also had bad experience twice with services, charge them the wrong price and impatient attitude. I work in the food industry for at least 7 years now and I always treat the staff how I want to be treated wherever I go because I understand it's not a easy job but this place? I would not come again and do not recommend.

Ok I came here super late and Cyprian was the best waiter I’ve EVER had he was hilarious, prompt, accommodating everything. I will always remember this Italian. I had the monkfish and it was brilliant. Thank you

Avoid at all costs. Came here before a theatre show, booked at 5:20pm and didn’t get any food until 6:40pm and we had to leave at 7pm. Only got offered drinks once after that no one came over even when they saw us looking about to get attention. Food was inedible I didn’t touch mine as it was filled with oil and hard frozen veg, courgette fries had zero batter and was basically huge bits of courgette I paid £5 for. My mums pasta looked like something a 5 year old would make and she paid an extra £3 for chicken and received 3 lousy pieces. We tried to complain but none of the managers or staff and seemed bothered. Probably one of the worst restaurants & food I’ve been to Manchester. We very nearly walked out!

Pretentious place! I don't know what this restaurant is trying to be. There is a bar but the whole space is set restaurant-like. And then there's VERY LOUD club-like bass music. Really not a place to dine in in that atmosphere. Did not have a good time there. Food was okay, but you pay for that food, so it better be at least that decent.

Avoid. Service was slow, we paid the service charge but to be honest I wish we didn't. When I looked at the receipt after it was £7.90... I had the vegetable lasagne, it was nice but there wasn't much and I don't feel full. My partner had a pasta dish which was average, could make it at home better. They asked if we wanted water and then when we checked the receipt it was £6! Service was poor, people who came in after us had eaten and left the restaurant. It wasn't really busy either. We went for a special occasion but we're now in a local pub and got better food and wine for £20 👍

Mediocre food and long wait times at a high price point. Service was non-existent. Menu suggests fresh fish daily but when asked only the monkfish + lobster was delivered fresh. Tiramisu was dry. Other Italian restaurants in Manchester are much better. Very disappointed.

Strap in for a ride at Don Giovanni, where the atmosphere scores a solid 7/10, buzzing with energy but sometimes missing the thematic mark. The live music, while spirited, came with a bass so heavy it seemed to forget the restaurant’s actual theme, adding more confusion than charm. Food-wise, we’re talking a mixed bag. The lasagna (7/10) was decent enough, but the Pollo Chicken fluttered down at a meager 4/10, leaving much to be desired. If you’re coming here hyped for a culinary revelation, you might want to tone down those expectations. Service was the night’s shining armor, scoring an 8/10 with staff who were the epitome of friendliness and efficiency. But then, the plot thickens again with the Creme Brûlée – a classic case of “expectation vs. reality.” The menu promised a home-baked biscuit which, spoiler alert, was a no-show. The dessert itself? Let’s just say “basic” is being generous. However, not all was lost in the land of Don Giovanni. The mocktail was a delightful surprise – a beacon of hope in an otherwise sea of culinary mediocrity. In short, if you’re willing to pay a premium for an experience that’s akin to a culinary rollercoaster, with more dips than peaks, Don Giovanni might just be your thrill ride. But for those seeking a consistent and high-quality dining experience, this ride might be a bit too wild. 🎢🍴

Visited several times, very nice atmosphere, great staff service. Personally would recommend risotto ai funghi and tartare di manzo. Thanks for the nice birthday cake❤️

One of the best Italians in UK and definitely my favourite Italian in Manchester. The quality of ingredients you get here is outstanding. Their food is absolutely delicious and full of flavour with every bite you take. But Don Giovanni doesn't stop there it's the full experience you get of a full Italian family eating and drinking together. The place beams with luxury, positive energy and fantastic atmosphere.

Lovely food, but if I had to make one critical note, that is that when someone orders a steak, it should come with some sort of standard extras other than a piece of meat on the plate which I received. Beautiful steak, but I would have expected some homemade chunky chips, mushrooms, tomatoes etc as standard. I had to order chips separately and got a bowl of skinny french fries that I can only imagine were frozen fries? As I say, lovely steak, 10 out of 10, but a piece of meat on a plate on its own with no standard extras seems odd and also disappointing for a hungry fella. I am no chef and hate to criticize the experts, but here is a picture of a plate full I made at home. I would not have expected a plateful like I made at home, but come on.

The bruschetta starter is very tasty. Surprised that it is only one piece but we split it in half to share between two of us. The mushroom tagliatelle pasta is exquisite, very creamy and filling. The tiramisu is very light. Again, a bigger portion was expected but it is still very nice. A great place to visit if you’re looking for some good quality food and nice service. Portion sizes are on the small side.

Didn't book on a Thursday evening after work, had seats available. Atmosphere was quite nice, enough space to have some privacy. Staff were really nice, recommended dishes. Starter had the mozzarella frita, the sun dried tomato made dish nice and tasty. The pasta was nice, enjoyed the dish. Good atmosphere inside, had a tiramisu with some berries on the side, cream was a bit thick but overall tasted quite nice. Overall really good, gave us plenty of time to just sit and chat without trying to hush us out, only downside was then made it a bit slow when asking for the bill. But definitely would return.

We celebrated our sons 21st birthday last night, party of twelve, and we all commented on the great staff and lovely food. The welcome from the staff was great and one member took photos of our party before being seated. We had paid a small extra amount for balloons and confetti on the table which was tastefully done and this also included a birthday card from the staff and dessert of profiteroles with a candle! The attention from the staff was not overwhelming and we were able to enjoy our meal without constant interruption to check how things were. Everyone was very friendly and didn’t rush us at all. The only reason I have dropped a star for atmosphere is because the music played by a live DJ was too loud, we had my 87 year old mother with us and she struggled to join in but when asked, it was turned down. Everyone enjoyed their meals of Diavalu and margarita pizza, ravioli, prawn cocktail, gnocchi etc all cooked well, served beautifully and very tasty. The puddings were lovely and not too large and one guest said it was the best tiramisu she had ever tasted. Arranging the booking was simple and we were able to tweak our reservation without penalty. Meals were all ordered in advance and name cards were given with individuals choices written on the back which helped remind everyone. The meal itself was then served promptly and the evening was a great success.

Wow, wow, wow! Where do I start on how delicious the food is here?! Not to mention the super friendly staff here too. I come out with my partner for an extra special date night, we cannot be happier we’ve come here. The food is so nice, we got garlic bread and gamberini to start - sooo good. Then for our mains I got lobster and my partner got the fillet steak - again sooo good. And for pudding crème brûlée- yummy! The cocktails here are nice too. Everything here is perfect! Suli and Toni were absolutely amazing, top notch service. Thank you very much. I hope my next visit will be in the not too distant future, definitely will be coming back.

The restaurant has nice atmosphere, and waiters are friendly. However, the risotto and lasagne we ordered are only mediocre. The rice and pasta within them were cooked too long and were too soft, and the tastes are only okay. Cream spinach is the only dish we found delicious today. There’s a 12.5% service fee.

Went here for a meal with a group of work colleagues and friends, pleased to say we had a wonderful experience. We were first welcomed by the owner who then handed us over to our server, who then promptly took our drinks order and brought them over to us. We then placed our food order and everyone was pleasantly surprised with the time it took our food to come out of the kitchen. Food was delicious and made for a good end to our evening out in Manchester. Dessert was also served promptly and again delicious, no complaints here! As previously mentioned the owner was welcoming and checked on us throughout our visit to ensure all was well (which it was!). All of the staff were the same and the owner should be proud of them for their hard work and devotion to customers. 10/10, would go here again

If you're going to be rude at least make sure the food is up to a high standard and the seats are not ripped. Security in the door wouldn't let 2 of our party in because they wore lbqt+ t shirts, even though they claim to be firnedly and it was pride day. The food was either over salted or very bland. When I informed the staff of this they sneakily added 12.5%t tip on despite our complaints. I never asked for money off for any of this but definitely did not want to give a tip. I raised a concern after and they promised it was raised higher and it wasn't and after a couple of emails noone has bothered to get back to us. Oh yes and as well as ripped seats, they don't even bother to replace light bulbs, one out of twenty working. Would advise you avoid avoid avoid.

Pre-Theatre dinner which could have been 5 stars but for the lack of quality service! We have the following: - Polpetté (sourdough w meatballs) - Pollo Pizza - Ribeye steak w Parmesan fries and truffle oil - Lasagne - Créme Brûlée - Tiramisu Barring the rib-eye which I ordered medium rare (came out well done) and the fries which had barely any Parmesan, or truffle oil to its touch or taste. There was a perfect balance of sauce, layers and meat in the lasagne and not too much sauce to drench the sourdough in Polpetté. My favourite dish however was the dessert and namely the Créme Brûlée! Silk smooth texture which was rich and creamy to its taste! As mentioned above, my only gripe was the service. When I discovered the steak nor the fries were satisfactory, I waited for the waiter, looking around, none to be seen or approaching us. Another instance where I wanted a drink, again nobody to be seen or made approachable ! The table was also wonky but we didn’t unfortunately have time on our hands to wait for another table. To top things off, we at no stage in our meal were ever actively approached by any waiter, to see if our food was ok and we were! I mean you get ask that question in Nando’s 😂 , for a place that prides themselves for being the oldest Italian restaurant in Manchester, not sure how much longer that will last with such dire service (vouched for by friends who have been and other reviews read). To add insult to injury, when making payment we opted not to pay the service charge based on the reasons above, the waiters face dropped and he waited for the approval of payment and scurried off as if we had insulted him!

Please pass our special Thank you to LUCA. He recommended us great wine and food and made sure our dinner was comfortable and relaxing we had a great time. Don Giovanni should be proud of his genuine care for customers. It is the staff that makes the guest want to come back and we did exactly that and came back the again after 2 days for dinner because of him . He handled the whole zone with very no staff very professionally and great attitude. The food was great. We will recommend this hotel to all our friends and relatives and see you all again soon.

A group of 23 of us came here after a work meeting. Despite sending the menu a week in advance there were still some delays. However, the waiter did everything he could do rectify it and overall we were satisfied with the service. Thank you

I made an online order today and ordered peri chicken wrap and normally I’m never disappointed with the food from here but today I was absolutely disgusted when my order arrived and it was cold and the meat was not cooked and was still pink! I took one bite and spat that out quick as the texture was very weird and tasted of blood!
