This was a perfect way to jump into the culture as this tragedy (and eventual triumph) is engrained in Uruguayan culture. The museum is well set up. It costs about 8 USD and is worth it. There are available English options too. It sheds light on what the human condition is capable of in both a negative and positive light.

AMAZING MUSEUM. This is an incredible collection and storytelling experience with amazing information. Met one of the survivors there. The staff qnd curator are super nice, due to time limitations with an excursion they let me return the next say for free to finish the museum.

This museum dedicated to the victims and survivors of the 1972 plane crash has been created with great respect and attention to detail. It is by no means flashy; just full of great personal stories and facts about climate, human endurance and aviation. For English speakers, the translations are all first rate - you won't miss a thing. A thorough visit will easily take up 2 hours. Definitely the highlight of the Old Town for us.

This museum is really well done and very informative. I really enjoyed learning the incredible story of the survivors and what they had to endure to make it home to their families. It was a humbling and awe-inspiring experience that I'm really glad I had while visiting Uruguay.

Great. A must see place to visit in Montevideo. A place with gooseflesh. A big story. A great tragedy. And very impressive to read the story again and again. Unbelievable.

This museum build as reminding the plane crush tragic accident in 1972. The guy at the museum told us many things about how the survival did at that time. And they still have pictures before an after crash. We can see some stuff from that time. At the moment we are there, one of survivors being interviewed by television.

Great museum, very informative with very friendly staff. Definitely a must do if you have any interest in aviation accidents but should be captivating for all. Entry is 8 USD and well worth it. You can pay with cash or if using a card must buy online, they have a QR code and free wifi so you can make the purchase there.

The museum is very good and interesting! I went there earlier this year and learned so much about plane crash of 1972. The staff is very knowledgable and helpful! And they speak multiple languages (e.g., Spanish, German, English, Portuguese). Thank you for taking the time to answer all my questions! I can only recommend this museum to anyone who's visiting Montevideo!

There's not many museums where you are greeted by the director and architect of the museum. A wonderful time that challenges you to take inspiration from the famous story of survival and apply the lessons to your own journey in life. Also a long overdue recognition and tribute to the people that lost their lives in the tragedy.

I love to see the detailed information shared through several pictures and stories and pieces of the airplane. You can connect with the survivors emotions while walking through their time at the Cordillera. You cannot miss it.

Very interesting place. It is a fascinating story about the plane that crashed in 1972. It was from Uruguay but crashed in the Andes in Argentina. Even if the story is famous you can learn a lot visiting the museum. We got maybe a little more background as the guide took his time talking with us. Thank you for that. This is a most see in Montevideo. They only accept cash payment.
