Palacio de Velázquez is a wonderful, airy and truly beautiful space to exhibit art in the middle of the Retiro Park. Whether you like the art on display or not depends on the time that you visit. If you're lucky, your visit will coincide with the exhibit of an artist that you will appreciate. But even if the exhibited art is not your cup of tea, go in and see the space. It's free.

It’s a shame that the caliber of the exhibition working doesn’t align with the marvellous architecture of this building. Admittedly, it is a free exhibition but this space has so much more potential considering that some of the tile work on its facade is absolutely lovely. A saving grace is that this museum is quieter than any other in Madrid as it doesn’t seem to be on the tourist list despite being so close to other sites which are absolutely packed

There are many famous buildings and museums in Madrid, so it is quite difficult to see them all in a few days. Among these beauties is the Velazquez Building. The Alacio de Velázquez or Velázquez Palace is an exhibition hall in Buen Retiro Park. Originally known as the Palacio de la Minería, it was built in 1883. The architect was Ricardo Velázquez Bosco. Engineer Alberto Palacio and ceramist Daniel Zuloaga also made an important contribution.

Small museum with free entrance within the Park. Good AC inside, perfect stop after a walk outside if it's too hot/cold. There are some timed exhibitions, mostly interesting paintings. Nice building inside and outside as well.

Free admission. You get what you pay for. There were a total of ten paintings that were somewhere between graffiti and kindergarten art and a collection of ordinary furniture seemingly bought at a flea market. Most of the place was empty.

(Translated by Google) The palace itself is really beautiful from an ornamental, architectural and structural point of view. Formidable and beautiful. I liked the exhibition much less, since contemporary modernism I do not understand or cause emotion. (Original) El palacio en si es realmente bonito dese un punto de vista ornamental, arquitectónico y estructural. Formidable y hermoso. Me ha gustado mucho menos la exposición, ya que el modernismo contemporáneo no lo entiendo ni me provoca emoción.

(Translated by Google) I am a blogger. I have a tourist portal. When I visited the Velázquez Palace on July 15, 2020, and an employee who worked there approached me. She told me that I have to change the backpack from the back to the chest, but I couldn't do it. I was very tired and my back hurt. And she did her best to get me out of the palace. I will never go back and write a bad review to it. The woman who works there does not want to understand people.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful palace-style architectural work where exhibitions with free admission are presented. It has been closed for a long time, but now beginning summer 2020, in the phase of new normality, they have opened their doors with works by Mario Merz in the exhibition called “Time is silent”. Another of the Retiro spaces to visit!

I visited the Palacio de Velázquez during an exhibition of paintings and sculptures by Tetsuya Ishida. Much of the work seems to focus around the de-humanising automation of modern work (because breaking you back working in a field was better?). I loved the way the works invoked a feeling despair by workers struggling to adapt to social and technological changes in contemporary life and working demands. A fantastic exhibition. The building itself is also worth seeing for it's mix of Neo-Classical and Neo-Mudejar, with it's lovely polychromic brickwork and especially two winged lions at the entrance.

Velazquez Palace (Palacio de velazquez) is another palace located inside the "Retiro Park" (El parque del Retiro) and it is also free as the Cristal Palace and the entrance ro the park, they are all free. This place looks more like an Art Center than a Palace, in my opinion. This palace is not big at all, high ceiling, tall walls and natural light. They currently have an exhibition of Susan Suter Art, very interesting and you have nothing to lose since it is located inside the park and it is free.

Nice, big and free museum in El Retiro park. There are some large paintings dotted around here and there, but a lot of it is just a huge, white and empty space which makes for quite an interesting vibe. Definitely a unique concept, that's for sure. I recommend.

The Velázquez Palace is an impressive building with many beautiful azulejos representing botanical motives and dragons. There was a modern art exhibition, which included some furniture and huge paintings made by children. The entry was free of charge.

This is a very impressive building. This is really big and they have some seating inside. We walked through and they had displayed some art. We had a quick look, we was expecting more but they had 6 art displayed but it was a nice walk through.

It's very open and airy inside (and air conditioned!) but it's also "restored" in the same sense that an anatomical skeleton is. Cool place, don't go expecting a palace.

(Translated by Google) Authentic wonder in the heart of the Retiro park. One of the buildings constructed for the National Mining Exhibition of 1883. Made by the architect Ricardo Velázquez Bosco, counting on the invaluable collaboration of Daniel Zuluaga as a ceramist. Its eclectic style does not leave you indifferent, starting with the two spoken sphinxes that guard the entrance staircase, passing by the decorated tiles of Zuloaga or The iron and glass vaults inspired by the Crystal palace in London. It currently belongs to the Reina Sofía museum where they regularly organize exhibitions. A highly recommended and must if you visit the retreat.
