A small but quaint bakery with delicious cakes and cappuccinos. We came for an afternoon pastry and if we had more days in Madrid, would’ve came more often. During our visit, we enjoyed the sponge cake with strawberries. It was absolutely delicious and devoured in minutes. All made in house and super kind staff

On a narrow unassuming street in the heart of Madrid is my favorite place in the world! I discovered @motteaubakery 4 years ago on one of my many visits to this beautiful city! Every dessert is made with love in a small 10’ x 10’ kitchen by in my opinion, the best pastry chef in town if not the world! His double layer red velvet cake is a perfect balance of moist mild chocolate cake and lightly sweetened cream cheese frosting. The apple tart has the tastiest buttery flaky crust that is topped with large pieces of soft apples baked with a hint of cinnamon. He has a desert that fits everyone’s taste from simple Financier to divine pavlova! If you are in Madrid, this place is a MUST #dessert #postres #madrid #madridspain #spain#adventherfoodie #delicious #bestdessert

Greatest little spot for sweets in Madrid. These people know how to make desserts. I have tried just about everything here and you wont be disappointed. My favorite are the strawberry pistachio and almond cake, tartaleta de berries and the carrot cake. But like i said, all the others desserts and amazing too. The place is cozy, the owner is such a nice guy just like everyone else there too. You have to come here if you are in Madrid

We went here to try their sin gluten cake, the one with the strawberry. We also ordered the dark cerveza cake. For drinks we had cage con leche and asked for some ice. The place is small so we were lucky to get a spot before the crowd arrived. Price €-€€

Simply the best bakery in the entire Madrid. Everything I have tested here was very delicious. And during last year I have tested a lot of things 😆

The place is absolutely amazing. It just moved to my top three Madrid food favs honestly. The owner (or the guy selling the cakes, not sure) was charming and very nice. He also speaks English, which is a rare thing in Madrid’s small shops. We got a red velvet cake and everything about it was just perfect - taste, consistency, not too sweet but sweet just enough. Definitely going back soon! 😊

Stopped by Motteau’s 3 mornings (out of 5 that we stayed in Madrid)…. That says a lot, I think! Cozy place with hospitable staff. Delicious cup of coffee with something sweet to satisfy every craving! We tried strawberry/pistachio cake, cinnamon roll, strawberry roll- all were quite amazing!

Best croissant ever!! I would only go back to Madrid to enjoy these! Also the pastries are delicious. Staff is super friendly and the little look into the kitchen makes it even better to enjoy the place.

Fantastic pastry shop! Here the emphasis is on real craftsmanship, the cakes and cookies we tried were just incredibly delicious! The staff are also very helpful and really friendly. Definitely make a stop.

By far one of the best cakes I ever had in my life. The carrot cake was amazing, can’t wait to come to Madrid again just to have another piece. The same for the chocolate cake, truly delicious!!! If you are in Madrid and want something sweet, 100% this is the place to go!

We two stopped by for coffee and cake before visiting the nearby Prado Museum. Excellent experience and great food. FOOD: 4.5 - Mango Cheesecake: 4.5. - Apple pie: 4.5 - Espresso: 4.5 (not sour) SERVICE: 5.0. Very considerate and focused on us as customers, though we spoke no Spanish. We felt appreciated. AMBIANCE: 4.0. About three tables inside and a bench on narrow street outside. We had our cake and coffee on the outside bench. Pleasant.

The owner is very friendly and personable. The pastries are fabulous. We had a hard time choosing what to try because everything looked so good. We chose a white chocolate pastrie and a dark chocolate cake. Amazing!

Wonderful pastries! We stayed at an Airbnb right across the street and found this place to be lovely, casual and with a very nice ambiance.

The best gluten free sponge cake with cream, strawberries and pistachio I have ever had in my life in any country in the world. You will not find a gluten-free cake so moist and creamy as this anywhere else!

Great place for breakfast and maybe a sweet after lunch. Vote: 9/10 The selection of sweets it's not huge, but it has enough variety to cover different moods, craving and tastes of customers. As always it is better to have a limited selection but really good quality and this place does it right. Perfect? No. But good enough to make you wanting to go back. To complete the picture the bartender is cordial and open to talk. Personal recommendation: lemon cakes

This pasterleria has the best cinnamon roll I have ever had. Also it makes the rolls with other flavors like chocolate and raspberry.... Just exceptional. If I lived in Madrid, that is the place for my coffee and the roll 8n the morning.

Very nice and tasty bakery!! They’re all handmade there and quality is amazing!! It is a small comfy place to have some coffee and pastry! Staff is nice and they help you decide between all their options depending on your likes. Prices are okey.

Not dog friendly place! We came with a small dog in my lap, the man from the staff with the beard in a very rude way “ordered” us to put the dog on the floor, without any explanation ! We left very disappointed. There are better places in the area

Great cakes! Usually not a fan of cakes, but they had unique flavours and lots of options to choose from. Small venue, but very cute

Cappuccino and lemon tart were very good. My friend enjoyed the strawberry cake (cream cheese frosting instead of fresh cream). I enjoyed and will go back.

The best palmier I've ever had, with a little jolt of orange zest in the middle. I'm going back tomorrow!

Got there during lunch time and the few tables inside were occupied with a line outside. Half of the desserts you can’t see while you’re in the store to ask about so make your decision before you go in. There was no line to takeout! I got a slice of carrot cake and indeed it was sweet without feeling like it was overdone! Moist and delicious.
